I have no problem with people holding back new releases for new artists. In fact, it's the best thing to do, as they can then build up hype and airplay etc ready for a big staged push to the higher reaches. If they were released straight away, their sales would probably be so spread out they'd struggle to get anywhere, and they'd find it difficult to compete against bigger names with more of a fanbase who would immediately shoot into the top 10.

However, someone like Britney would shoot into the top 3 at LEAST on iTunes straight away, probably drop a bit once the initial hype dies down (but still maintain a top 10 placing due to the top 10 effect and increasing airplay). Then when she comes here to do some promo or the video is released she'd shoot back up, maybe even going up to #1 if the competition is weak/she gets enough of a push (like the Black Eyed Peas did with an X Factor slot)... she really doesn't NEED to be held back, imo. And if she got to #1 on iTunes she could probably stay there with the increasing airplay and the boost that being #1 on iTunes seems to give songs. The worst that could happen is she'd peak maybe in the top 5 instead of #1. Not the end of the world, and her sales would likely be higher anyway due to the extra five or six weeks in the top ten. I just don't understand why record companies seem to be so obsessive with getting to #1 in this country.

The only logic I can see in them being held back in Germany & UK is that, as Josh said, we're the biggest European markets, so they want to "test the waters" so to speak in the rest of Europe before releasing here, to see how it would do. But it's pretty clear at this point the song is absolutely massive, so IMO they should really just release it now.

That's true, to be fair (although I'm not sure about the last paragraph). Even my sister found out about the song from her friends at school, and they never find out any songs unless they hear them on the radio!

Meh. Stans don't scare me... neither do their hilariously juvenile idiolects. They end up looking like cocks if you ask me. I expect a rant from him any time soon now, not instigating anything, of course. Some people need to learn there is an opinion that may, on the odd occasion, oppose their own views - not saying they should conform, but hitting down that opinion and preaching your own to the extent it might as well be gospel is poor reasoning, and defeats the object of both arguments and more particularly, this whole forum.

I'm sorry I don't know who you are... therefore your opinion makes no difference to me?

I LOVE Britney Spears. I am might be a LOON/STAN, but don't mistake me for being unintelligent and unwilling to accept an opinion that differs from mine. A lot of posts about her, from me... are pure sarcasm, just because people tend to take things online so seriously. The only time I have said anything about someone else's opinion in this thread is from one member who wished physical harm to Britney Spears... sorry we just don't MESH.

You have the right to hate the song, just like I have the right to believe it's the best thing I have heard since 'Womanizer'.

Thanks for your recognition, mind you.

But, for example, Once by Diana Vickers got its radio premiere in December 2009, and got released months and months later (I can't remember exactly, was it in April?). Happiness by Alexis Jordan got its radio premiere in June, and got released in November or something. :drama:
But the difference is, it's released in a month (or around there) as opposed to 4-6 months (like the songs you stated :P) A month is usually about the time it has to climb up Radio 1's playlist (Usually something like C-B-B-A) so it's great timing for her, over here imo. Songs in the US are released early (to catch the hype most of all) but because Airplay is factored into it, they have chance to fall, before climbing again and (sometimes) re-peaking. Unlike here, where if a song falls, unless it's promoted on some show, it will keep falling and very rarely manages to re-climb and re-peak.

If every country was thinking the same way and adapting the release to its own charts, then it wouldn't be released anywhere now (except maybe in the US) and it wouldn't hold that record for being #1 in 17 different countries.

I just wish they unleashed it to the UK now. I'd rather have her with a chart run like 3-3-3-3-2-3-3-3-4-6-8-9-8-9-18-26-40 than a chart run like 1-1-9-18-26-40.

I'll probably be flamed but this is really really awful. It's like a watered-down version of her song Circus and lacks her vibe in Toxic/Womanizer. Surely if people could put aside their hate for Cheryl one moment they would be able to see how much better Promise This is.

But then again 'Promise This' is the best song ever released :kink: ^_^

Promise This is a great song but it's too flat comparing to Hold It Against Me.

Is the way she pronounces hazzy an usual way to pronounce it?

Cause it's just so amazing but I've never heard it pronounced that way (not that I hear it a lot at all anyway).

He is foreign you know ... no need to be a bitch.

I'm foreign too, it's practically impossible not to pick up grammar and vocabulary if you post on BJ every day.

But some people find it easier than others to grasp onto it. Plus, Nick only really posts in the Personal Charts, Britney & PCD (plus a couple more I imagine) forums mainly. (Two of which are AF's so not everyone posts in there). So it's probably a bit harder for him than it was for you.

If you haven't learned at school then I doubt forum will help you speak/write better.

Most of people (inc. myself) scrolls and reads only with eyes and not with brain.
