May 26, 201115 yr I did notice that the encores on both nights got ecstatic receptions. I think this is down to the fact that we didn't know for sure which songs were going to be played in the encore compared to the album set list on the main part of the evening.
May 26, 201115 yr This shows that there is a video of Elvis Costello's Shipbuilding as well  http://www.3DiCD.com/Suede/Coming-Up/
May 27, 201115 yr OK, I know this has taken me nearly 15 years to notice but what the hell happened Brett's lyrics between Dog Man Star and Coming Up? DMS's lyrics are consistently amazing but Coming Up's are average.
May 27, 201115 yr http://www.3dicd.com/Suede/ the notes on the debut album say it was the fastest selling album ever....... how could anyone let this be printed? Shockingly inaccurate.
May 27, 201115 yr http://www.3dicd.com/Suede/ the notes on the debut album say it was the fastest selling album ever....... how could anyone let this be printed? Shockingly inaccurate. It actually says it was the fastest selling debut album
May 27, 201115 yr It actually says it was the fastest selling debut album That would still be wrong. At the time it was the fastest selling debut album since Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
May 27, 201115 yr Saw them on May 21st doing "Coming Up" amazing is all i can say and even a reprise of "Animal Nitrate"- fantastic. Normally I can't stand warm up bands but hats off to Chapel Club (I think that's what they were called) who were surprisingly good- may invest!
May 27, 201115 yr Yes, Chapel Club were a good support act. I made sure I was there early enough to see them on all three nights. If you didn't hear it last night, highlights from the Coming Up gig from Radio 2 will be on the iPlayer until next Thursday night.
May 27, 201115 yr That would still be wrong. At the time it was the fastest selling debut album since Frankie Goes To Hollywood. exactly.
May 27, 201115 yr I have been trying to find out how much FGTH actually sold but the only figure I could find was it was approaching nearly a million on advance sales. If that's true then surely it would still be the fastest selling debut album. BTW sorry to drag this off-topic!

Perhaps my thread "Top 100 best selling albums of the 80s" will tell you shortly??? ;) :D shameless plug
May 28, 201115 yr Suede arrived today :cheer: The whole packaging is lovely. They've obviously put in a lot of effort into it.
May 28, 201115 yr Author How do we all think these re-issues will do chartwise? I can see Suede and Coming Up going top 40, with Dog Man Star possibly challenging for a surprise 10 top placing. Head Music and A New Morning will struggle to crack the top 75 though.
June 2, 201115 yr I'll be surprised if any of them make the top 40 if I'm honest. I think they're a band that have been largely (and unfairly) forgotten. :( Also :( at the fact my CD has yet to arrive, I'm really excited at being able to listen to a remastered version. Such a special album to me.

June 2, 201115 yr Author I shall cling to the hope that Dog Man Star will make it next week - if only so I can include something very understated in my chart commentary :D The bonus tracks on DMS are a lot more interesting than the ones on Suede, plus it's a fan favourite, so I think it will be the biggest selling.
June 2, 201115 yr Yeah, maybe you are right actually. I'll definitely be getting it (and maybe Coming Up if I see it cheap), DMS is possibly worth it just to get a HQ version of Stay Together.
June 2, 201115 yr I can see DMS doing the best but I cant see them any of them making the Top 40. DMS is released tomorrow here. :cheer: DMS is putting serious pressure on The Holy Bible as my favourite album of all time - again. Edited June 2, 201115 yr by tonyttt31

DMS is released tomorrow here. :cheer: DMS is putting serious pressure on The Holy Bible as my favourite album of all time - again. It's my favourite album ever and the performance at the Brixton Academy reinforced that. The debut album was at 35 in Tuesday's mids but dropped out of the top 40 on Wednesday. DMS should do better. I just hope it makes the top 40 by Sunday. If not I might just mention it anyway :D
