Strange that All The Lovers is seen here as the 'gay' and 'shrill' song of Kylie's Aphrodite era when I always thought that Get Outta My Way could be more easily described as that - it marked the return of her nasally vocals and the big camp disco anthem which she always releases as the second single after something a bit more experimental first. I do love both as I tend to always love Kylie no matter what (as a true loon does!) but All The Lovers was definitely the more mellow, euphoric, credible single imo.

Alejandro. Still really love it. One of my favourite GaGa songs, just behind Bad Romance and Poker Face. :D

Higher is a good, nothing more, nothing less...

I agree 'Get Outta My Way' is very 'gay' too .... let's face it, it's Kylie, it's always going to be camp :P.

I'd have loved to have seen the reaction if she'd released Your Disco Needs You in 2000 instead of Please Stay, now that's got to be a contender for the campest song of all time - she's really scaled down the camp a lot since the Light Years album (Loveboat anyone?) but it does often seem to pop up on her second singles of most eras - especially with Wow :lol: For those who haven't heard Your Disco Needs You and think her Aphrodite singles have been 'gay' - compare;

I think I was the one that described it as "shrill". It's just that high-pitched instrument that plays in the chorus. It makes it difficult for me to enjoy the song. The melody and vocals are fine, and the lyrics are fine (to be honest, I only know a couple of lines of the song anyway). For the majority of pop songs I like, it's primarily because of the instrumentals, so if there's an instrument that really annoys me, something like good lyrics, or whatever, can't really make up for it.

Likewize, with Get Outta My Way. The chord changes during the chorus are just amazing for me. So the vocals would have to literally be dreadful, and the lyrics would have to contain death threats or something for me not to like the song. And it doesn't have any annoying instruments either. It all blends together perfectly, for my ears at least. :)

'All The Lovers' lower than 'Alejandro', 'f*** You' AND 'Firework'?? WTF? :( 'Alejandro' is rubbish compared to GaGa's previous standards and is horrifically overrated! 'f*** You' was good for about 10 listens... 'Firework', I love the message and like the video, but the song is pretty bleh! Glad that Sats managed to finish in a decent and respectable position with 'Higher' My favourite song of 2010

That's actually one of the things I love about the song, especially after the slow ballad-esque segment giving way to full on euphoric explosion in the middle 8 which uses that high pitched sound to the best effect - absolutely adore it  Glad it still gets a lot of airplay too, looks like it might become another future 'classic' for Kylie.

06 | Marina & The Diamonds - Hollywood | 152pts

At #06, is probably the biggest shock of the countdown imo, Marina & The Diamonds with the wonderful 'Hollywood' which peaked at #12 early last year. I feel sorry for poor brave Marina, she was one of the more exciting new talents of 2010, but the public didn't seem to take to her and she did okay at best really :(. I always thought she was far more appealing than the occasionally bland Ellie Goulding, and seems to have far more personality in her songs too. Shame. Here's hoping she doesn't fade into obscurity now!

05 | Rihanna & Drake - What's My Name? | 160pts

The second of Rihanna's three entries, 'What's My Name' was released in November 2010 but it wasn't until January of this year when it rightfully peaked at #01, giving her a fourth solo #01. It's currently still in the Top 10 in the UK and is probably one of the best songs of the career, the production on it is fantastic as is how subtle it is yet has one of the most memorable hooks in 'Oh na na, what's my name?'. Drake is also more than just a pointless feature to help a song sell, he helps make the song and otherwise the song feels empty without her. Amazing song from miss RiRi.

Awwww, was hoping for Marina top 5. :(

'What's My Name' - Still really love it. :D

I had to listen to 'Hollywood' about 10 times to actually being to like it. :( I love it now though.

Pleasantly surprised to see Marina still in! Top 5 hopefullly

I was reading your comment and i was like yep i agree! It deserves top 3 at least! And then the next comment was Hollywood at 6! LOL

Anyway, really pleased it went top 10!

So we still got LTWYL, Telephone, OGITW and Firework!

For me:

4. LTWYL

3. OGITW

2. Firework

1. Telephone

Hollywood was pretty instant for me. The first time I heard it, I was like "This is amazing!", and I still love it now. :) I think I ranked it 3rd on my list (behind Airplanes and Only Girl, and above Love the Way You Lie, if I remember correctly).

So we've got Rihanna, Katy Perry, Eminem and Lady Gaga to come?! They're all okay songs tbh.

I loved Hollywood, shame she kind of flopped, her songs were great :(

I did like What's My Name, but now I'm starting to hear it too much and its getting old :(

I predict:

4. Eminem

3. Katy Perry

2. Lady Gaga

1. Rihanna

it would be nice to see Telephone beat Only Girl for once- although on Buzzjack the general opinion seems to be Rihanna>Lady Gaga>Katy Perry

Cmon Eminem!!!!!!!!!!

He will probably come 4th, but I hope he shocks us and comes higher than that.

You should do 1 at a time now.

My ideal:

4. Firework

3. LTWYL

2. Only Girl

1. Telephone

Yeah, I think it'll go

4. Eminem

3. Katy Perry

2. Rihanna

1. Lady Gaga

Still, he's done well. It's a shame his songs aren't liked unless they have Rihanna, Dido or Hayley Williams on the hook.

i'm hoping for

4) Katy Perry- Fireworj

3) Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce- Telephone

2) Rihanna- Only Girl In The World

1) Eminem & Rihanna- Love The Way You Lie

All good songs, although none of these top 4 are in my top 10 favourites of the year yet they are all in my top 20
