June 15, 201114 yr Adele's 21 returns to #1 in its 16th week on The Billboard 200, displacing Lady GaGa's Born This Way, which is in just its third week. 21 is the first album to rank #1 this late its chart run since Taylor Swift's Fearless, which was #1 in its 16th week in March 2009. Two weeks ago, GaGa posted the biggest one-week sales tally since 2005. But last week, sales of the album dropped by 84%. That was the biggest sales drop-off, expressed in a percentage basis, of any of the 17 albums to sell 1 million copies in a week in the Nielsen SoundScan era. Adele, meanwhile, has been a model of consistency. Her album has sold between 88,000 and 168,000 copies every week for the last 15 weeks. (It sold more than that in its first week, but has since settled into a very nice groove. Just when its sales were starting to soften, "Rolling in the Deep" became a monster hit and helped to keep the pace up. The song is expected to top the Hot 100 for the sixth straight week when the chart is released later today.) This is the 10th week at #1 for Adele's album, which is the longest run by any album since Fearless had 11 weeks on top in 2008-2009. It's the longest run at #1 for an album by a British artist since George Michael's Faith logged 12 weeks on top in 1988. Both of those albums went on to win Grammys for Album of the Year. Adele is front-runner for the honor at next year's Grammys. 21 is the first album to spend its first 16 weeks in the top three since Usher's 2004 blockbuster Confessions, which spent its first 17 weeks in that high-rent district. A key difference between the two albums? By its 16th week, Usher's album had spawned three #1 hits on the Hot 100. Adele is still on her first. Born This Way spent just two weeks at #1. Of the 17 albums to sell 1 million copies in a single week in the Nielsen SoundScan era, Born This Way is one of just five to spend only one or two weeks in the top slot. *NSYNC's Celebrity and Britney Spears' Oops!...I Did It Again both had one week on top. Backstreet Boys' Black & Blue and Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water both had two. (Of course, Born This Way may return to #1 down the line, rendering this point moot.)http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_wat...szXx3rhOXgPwiUv

June 23, 201114 yr Jeremih Strips Adele's 'Rumour' Down Let the man stand up with a drum kit to his right, keys to his left, and a reverb-heavy guitar backing him up, and R&B hitmaker Jeremih has his way with the retro soul of Adele's "Rumour Has It", in this week's Mashup Mondays. ... "I know you probably haven't heard this type of sound from my voice, so I just wanted to touch it," Jeremih says of choosing the Adele song, which is the second single from her No. 1 latest album, 21. "And see what I could do with it."http://www.billboard.com/column/mashupmond...005241852.story
June 24, 201114 yr For the first time in nine weeks Adele has neither the US’s biggest-selling album nor single, but a surge in radio airplay for "Rolling in the Deep" keeps it at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for another week. Having been the top-selling download for the previous six weeks, the Adele track is now only the fifth biggest digital track in the States, after being overtaken by Katy Perry’s "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, "Give Me Everything" by Pitbull featuring NeYo, AfroJack & Nayer, and Jason Aldean’s "Dirt Road Anthem". However, the Hot 100 is based on a combination of sales and airplay and it is the latter which saves the day for "Rolling in the Deep". While its weekly sales drop by 16% to 188,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, data from Nielsen BDS reveals the track’s radio audience has grown 1% to 153m. It is now the top song on the Pop, Adult Contemporary, Triple A and Adult Pop Songs Billboard charts and, despite its sales drop, secures a seventh consecutive week leading the Hot 100. Adele, though, has lost her chart-topping crown on albums with 21 dropping to three on the Billboard 200 as Eminen claims a ninth number one in total. He has led the listings six times as a solo artist, twice with D12 and now achieves it as a duo alongside Royce da 5’9” whose joint effort with Marshall Mathers, Hell: The Sequel, debuts at the top with 171,000 sales. That is 10,000 sales ahead of America’s Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho who enters at two with Dream With Me a fortnight after charting at four in the UK. Although Adele’s 21 is down to third place, its weekly sales are off less than 1% to 115,000 and its tally is now significantly ahead of Lady GaGa’s much newer release Born This Way, which drops 2-4 with 68,000 sales as Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party moves 7-5 with 51,000 sales.

July 6, 201114 yr Eminem's Recovery First Album to Sell 1 Million Downloads, Adele Likely To Follow Next Week This week, Eminem's Recovery becomes the first album to sell a cumulative 1 million downloads in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 2010 Web/Shady/Aftermath/Interscope set's total digital haul now stands at 1,001,000. (Overall, the album's total U.S. sales -- including physical copies -- stands at more than 3.9 million.) Since SoundScan began tracking digital album sales in 2005, a total of 12 titles have moved at least 500,000 downloads. Nipping at Eminem's heels is the red-hot Adele, whose 2011 album, 21, will likely surpass 1 million downloads next week. Recovery debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Digital Albums chart a little over one year ago. It spent seven weeks atop both lists. Two weeks ago, Eminem's fingerprints were at No. 1 on those charts once again, but this time as one-half of the hip-hop duo Bad Meets Evil (with Royce da 5'9"). Its Hell: the Sequel effort debuted atop both tallies, shifting an overall 171,000 in its first frame (89,000 were downloads). In a statement, Interscope Records vice chairman Steve Berman said regarding Eminem's digital feat: "Recovery selling one million digital albums is an incredible achievement by an incredible artist. I have had the pleasure of working with Eminem throughout the course of his career, and I'm delighted to be a part of yet another milestone on his amazing journey." The rapper's manager, Paul Rosenberg, added "We are thrilled to congratulate Eminem on the history-making digital sales success of Recovery. Over the years we've made a concerted effort to engage Em's online fan base so this achievement is especially rewarding. Eminem made an amazing album with Recovery and the fans responded in record numbers."

August 1, 201113 yr I keep hearing 'I'll Be Waiting' in TV programmes. Actually think it could do well as a single.
August 1, 201113 yr I hope both 'Turning Tables' and 'Rumour Has It' get released at some point. Those are the only two songs I can see with single potential, but I can only see one of them being released. You can only go so far with the singles from a 3 million selling album.
