do people really think Jessie J will stay there for four weeks or over? I can't see it tbh, maybe 2 or 3, the BRITs will obviously help it

I'm not sure what Champion will do, it will either be number 1 or top 5- it depends on how quickly it climbs on sunday, but I'm pretty sure Lady Gaga can go straight in there when released- unless theres zero promotion apart from her name, I'm pretty sure Bad Romance was different circumstances anyway?

I hope so. :( Or at least just to keep 'Champion' off the no. 1 spot.

If 'Champion' is looking set to be a hit ** shudders ** then I hope it peaks at no. 2 before the inevitable tail off. Jessie J is bound to continue selling well over the next few weeks and like you mention The Brit Awards will provide a nice boost. Then there's the album release which would see the album track (even if it's the same version) being cherry picked. I wouldn't be surprised if 'Price Tag' is one of the top 10 biggest selling singles of 2011.

I'd like Champion to get #1 to be honest. It's a good song, and I love Price Tag, but I don't want it at #1 for a month. :drama:

I think Lady Gaga might debut at #1, due to hype, and then might return to #1 a few weeks later due to promotion, sort of like what happens in the US (except they include airplay in their charts, so the songs don't normally debut at #1, even if they sell the most).

whats that?

Hold It Against Me, by Britney Spears.

It did take me a while though. I mistook it for H.A.M and first, and I was like "What, it's climbed from #250 to #227?"

When is Lady Gaga's song being released?

Hopefully next century :kink:

:(

I really hope 'Champion' isn't no. 1 as Chris Brown sounds terrible on the track. Just listen to his hidious vocal gymnastics at the start of the song (ie; some people wait their tttuuuuurrrrrrrrrrnnnnn). :drama: Sounds like some production team member decided to have fun with the pitch control. Awful. -_-

Then again, I'm not the biggest fan of Chris Brown anyways. He always sounds so strained when he sings, it's painful to listen to.

Gonna have to disagree with you there, I think Chris's vocals on Champion is fab, the beginning of the song with him singing sounds so good along with the chorus, makes the song

Hopefully next century :kink:
lol  Take it, your not a Gaga fan then?

Hopefully next century :kink:

lol. Seriously though, it's in a couple of weeks, isn't it? :o It's weird knowing that a song I haven't heard yet will be everywhere this time next month, and I'll probably have listened to it 50 times by then, and not out of choice (unless I actually like it, of course).

Also, this has nothing to do with anything, but I was just reading through Rihanna's Twitter page, and a couple of days ago, she strongly hinted that she's given Drake and Eminem oral before. I have a slight feeling she was joking, however...

Also, I just realized, Chris Brown could have 2 songs in the iTunes top 10 soon. Who would've thought! :o

Infact, Jessie J, Chris Brown and Skylar Grey could all feasibly have two songs in the top 10 at the same time, although I doubt it'll quite work out like that. Too many things could go wrong tbh.

Born This Way is being 'released' February 13th. I don't think it's been confirmed if that's when it'll be available on iTunes, or if it'll be a youtube video, or perhaps just the Grammy's performance etc... But that's when we'll first hear it.

I'd be astonished if it isn't in the top 10 at the end of the year.

In fact, with it being released so early in the year, I already think it has a pretty good shot at year end #1 :o

I really can't imagine Price Tag being year-end #1. I dunno, it just doesn't seem significant enough, although it's a good song. I doubt it'll sell as much as Grenade, even.

I reckon none of us have heard the year-end #1 yet. That said, Poker Face was known in 2008 (it got to #1 in some countries in late 2008, I think). And Tik Tok, which was year-end #1 in the US last year, was on the radio since summer 2009, so you never know! But in the UK, we've got the X Factor winner's single to look out for.

Surely a song only becomes significant in chart terms by having success/longevity though?

I don't know about you, but I never thought "oh, this definitely sounds like the biggest-selling single of the year" when I heard Bleeding Love or Love The Way You Lie for the first time. A song builds its way to that kind of reputation by amassing several weeks of big sales or having impressive longevity.

Anyway, it's way too early to start speculating on these kind of things. I mean, a lot of people probably would have said Fireflies could have been the biggest-selling single of 2010 this time last year, but it kind of passed on too quickly in the end. The same could happen to Price Tag. Plus, as Eric said, X Factor is still to come and that tends to drive sales up heavily.

Infact, I thought Everybody Hurts could be year-end #1 for a while, and that ended up at #11 in the end! :o It was YTD #1 for quite a long time aswell, I recall. I think Fireflies overtook it in like May, or something? Which goes to show, I'm not necessarily saying it will happen this year, and probably has hardly ever happened in the past, but whatever the YTD #1 is in April, could miss the entire year-end top 10 again.

What You Know up to #91, hopefully Two Door Cinema Club will finally get a top 100 hit now.

Danny Byrd's Tonight is at #100 :o

I don't like Chris Brown's vocal on "Champion", luckily there's a remix featuring Tina Daheley from The Chris Moyles Show where she sings instead of Chris Brown, and she does one of Chipmunk's raps! I don't think it'll be put up for release though, it's just played regularly on the show
