I don't like Chris Brown's vocal on "Champion", luckily there's a remix featuring Tina Daheley from The Chris Moyles Show where she sings instead of Chris Brown, and she does one of Chipmunk's raps! I don't think it'll be put up for release though, it's just played regularly on the show
I haven't heard that version, have you got the link? however I did hear how some Chris Brown fans were complaining about Chris Moyles for cutting Chris out of Champion, I don't listen to Moyles so I wouldn't of known.

LOL Tina Daheley ? Wasn't that done as a joke because Chris Moyles didn't want to play Chris Brown, but still wanted to support Chipmunk. She sounds awful/tone deaf in the video of her recording it.. I haven't heard the studio version though, but there must be a lot of autotune involved if she sounds decent

Edit: You seriously think this sounds better ?

I guess it sounds a little better than this http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00dhn1m

I really can't imagine Price Tag being year-end #1. I dunno, it just doesn't seem significant enough, although it's a good song. I doubt it'll sell as much as Grenade, even.

I reckon none of us have heard the year-end #1 yet. That said, Poker Face was known in 2008 (it got to #1 in some countries in late 2008, I think). And Tik Tok, which was year-end #1 in the US last year, was on the radio since summer 2009, so you never know! But in the UK, we've got the X Factor winner's single to look out for.

Yeah that's a point actually - it might have to go and shift some to beat Grenade. However, its likely to sell incredibly well this week and for pretty much the whole of February due to the Brits and in fact into March with her album being brought forward. It also seems the kind of song Capital will hammer to death for pretty much the rest of the year, so I can see this sticking around the top 100.

Surely a song only becomes significant in chart terms by having success/longevity though?

I don't know about you, but I never thought "oh, this definitely sounds like the biggest-selling single of the year" when I heard Bleeding Love or Love The Way You Lie for the first time. A song builds its way to that kind of reputation by amassing several weeks of big sales or having impressive longevity.

Anyway, it's way too early to start speculating on these kind of things. I mean, a lot of people probably would have said Fireflies could have been the biggest-selling single of 2010 this time last year, but it kind of passed on too quickly in the end. The same could happen to Price Tag. Plus, as Eric said, X Factor is still to come and that tends to drive sales up heavily.

I agree with the first sentence, but disagree with the latter two. I really don't see how it is too early to start speculating - its obviously too early to start confirming, but I don't understand, or agree, with the assertion that it is too early to speculate - surely that's part and parcel of this forum for a start, but in any case, the song is clearly off to a good start and for the reasons I've given above, that's why I'm speculating that it may sell over a prolonged period thus making it a contender for #1 YTD.

I think I prefer her version

I don't mind Champion but Chris' voice annoys me, and I heard this when I woke up once I think last week and I found it quite good actually

about this biggest selling song of the year thing, never since the 'big January number 1' started in 2007 (Grace Kelly, Now You're Gone, Just Dance, Fireflies) none of them have ever made Year end number 1, so i can't see Price Tag changing that- I have no idea what will, but surely something will come up, as superbossanova said, you just never really know until you see sales

Good to see Enrique is going to get himself a top 5 hit. Nearly everyone of his songs is a tune but sometimes they dont chart as high as they should.

You're right it was done as a joke, and Tina is so autotuned, and she can't rap. Before they autotuned Tina they made her actually sing the intro and she sounded awwwwwwful, much worse than Chris Brown. But it was funny lol, I'm sure people will still buy the CB version so it shouldn't upset his fans (even tho it is).

How can anyone *not* be able to rap - all it is is normal speech, with a few extra naughty words thrown in. ;)

It really isn't.

No it's not...

Just no vidcapper please listen to Missy Elliot, Eric B and Rakeem, Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy, Nicky Minaj and Kano. If it was just normal speech with a few swear words Cher Lloyd and Kesha would be considered the best rappers in the world.

Really want Chipmunk to be No 1 next week but hate Chris Brown, pleased Nicky is climbing such a good song.

Moment For Life #39 - Nicki Minaj ft Drake :o

Love this song, I'm not a huge fan of Nicki but this is one of her best, I hope it climbs more

McFly up to 231 with That's the Truth. Obviously not lots, but its edging its way up to the top 200. Still more than a month away from its proper release.
Moment For Life #39 - Nicki Minaj ft Drake :o

Holy crap - she's doing quite well :o Really hope she gets top 10 with once big airplay (fingers cross) and promo kicks in

No it's not...

OK, OK - a *lot* of extra naughty words. ;)

Seriously though, if rap *isn't* normal speech, then what on earth *is* it?

You clearly don't actually listen to rap music, you just hear people not doing OTT vocal gymnastics and turn it off or block out your ears. If you'd actually bother listening to a rapper it's fairly clear it's not just 'normal speech'.

theres more thought than you think that goes into rap music- the lyrics, the delivery, the rhyming, the emotions, fitting your voice to the beat- its not easy and those who do it well (e.g Eminem) are talented
