IMHO this is BRILLIANT. Don't take it at face value, it's essentially a style parody of all the singers that are currently popular but with very Marina lyrics, and her lyrics are superb as ever. Fear And Loathing is great too, and I'm thinking that Marina could do an Adele and out-do Florence this era :D
The acoustic version absolutely pisses all over the main version from a truly great height.

are you quite sure it's a parody?

I really like "Radioactive", not really instant but the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. And the video is amazing, I take it as a mini-movie and Marina acts really well in it.

Really promising comeback for Marina. Hopefully this time around she can get more success.

It is like some cheap and tacky remix. At least this sounds better than Will Young's attempt at going dance but it's still pretty generic and derivative. That said, I do love the video and the acoustic version that Ryan posted below so I am still really looking forward to the album.

Maybe this Electra Heart and her blonde wig makes her pine for a Top 10 hit..

I expect it'll get good Radio 1 play and probably get a few more fans on board (though they may be shocked when they get the album!), so if it helps her sell more records I'm not complaining.

I am sooo in love with the acoustic version and it's made me love Fear & Loathing even more.

The "remix" should just be passed off as some leak version seized upon by by some no mark unknown remixer and disowned, it is that awful.

Radioactive is starting to grow on me like I thought it would :)
I never got round to listening to her first album, but she's great and her singles were all fantastic :D I like Radioactive on first listen, It's hardly the most original thing in the world, but its still pretty good.
Radioactive is absolutely fantastic as a mainstream pop song.

Yeah but that's the problem especially if you don't like mainstream pop which on the whole I find vacuous and boring, not words I'd applied to Marina previously.

She sounds way more sophisticated doing a mainstream pop song than just about all of the mainstream popstars doing similar stuff, in a way it's like she's come full circle. I'd hope the whole album won't be like it, but it's good to show what else she's capable of too.

Indeed. Marina has already done superior pop with Oh No! and now she's just debased herself by using the 2010/2011 pop sound. It will date very badly.

I don't see what's wrong with a pop singer trying to get a hit? As pop means 'popular' she should try hard to be popular. It's just natural for her to try to sound current. 'Radioactive' sounds very current and only time will tell how it will sound in three years time.

Some do it well, some fail. She's doing it well.

I do. It;s like When Madonna used Timbaland to produce her album - years after his peak. Marina is better than this.

You can pre-order the EP on iTunes now, for £1.99 you get:

- Radioactive

- Radioactive (Tom Starr Remix)

- Radioactive (Chuckie Big House Remix)

- Radioactive (How to Dress Well Remix)

- Radioactive (Captain Cuts) [blog]

- Radioactive (Acoustic)

- Radioactive (Extended Edit)

Release date is 2nd October.

I'm disappointed in this, didn't expect her to "sell out" like this. Also, I find it very hard believe that this is a parody song or whatever, since that would be a frankly bizarre route to go down as a lead single for an album when you're trying to launch yourself as a serious artist? Hopefully the rest of the album is much better :(

But still, at least she's still hot!

It's just such a shame that "current" at the moment is actually quite dated and really derives a lot of sounds from 90s trance. Marina using it (either by design as parodic/ironic) or by sheer greed (desperately wants a hit) has meant she has sold herself desperately short. I do believe this is something to do with Electra Heart and this is her sell out song (which is seemingly suggested at by the lyrics of Fear & Loathing)

Maybe Marina is getting a bit metaphysical and post-(post?)-modern on us.

All I know is that the "dance" version is the worst thing she has released by quite a wide margin.

It's better than Hermit the Frog and Girls. Girls couldn't be more Great Escape era Blur if Damon actually wrote it in 1995.
