February 1, 201114 yr DON'T REMIND ME. That was an absolute disgrace. First he dies then he's beaten to a posthumous #1 by CASCADA?!? (I got a warning for 'spoiling' the extremely obvious outcome ) At least Cascada had a good song, but her best song remains "Everytime We Touch"  That should of been her number one instead of EVD. It would of been good to see MJ back at no.1 in both charts after his death.
February 1, 201114 yr says on wikipedia. i know you shouldn't believe everything it says, but it does It's wrong.
February 1, 201114 yr Sugababes album "Sweet 7" was midweek number 1 before it fell all the way to 14. Haha. No it wasn't... it was only about #8 in the first mids IIRC
February 1, 201114 yr Blazin' Squad - We Just Be Dreamin' was also a midweek #1. Thankfully it got knocked off all the way down to #3 by Sunday :puke2:
February 1, 201114 yr #11 all week. Oh i left out another 1 to make 11 I'm so sorry. LOL as if that was number 1! Please forgive my mistake.
February 1, 201114 yr Craig David 'Rise & Fall' was also midweek #1, but lost out to Tomcraft 'Loneliness' by the end of the week. Also, Oasis 'Let There Be Love' was overtaken by Pussycat Dolls 'Stickwitu' over the week. Oasis are pretty much the Kings of this. And Wheatus 'Teenage Dirtbag', too, eventually lost out to Atomic Kitten 'Whole Again' despite leading in the midweeks. Edited February 1, 201114 yr by superbossanova
February 1, 201114 yr melanie c was leading westlife for her second week at number 1 with never be the same again, westlife did not over take her with 'fool again' until late on saturday after doing cduk!
February 1, 201114 yr The Supermen Lovers were #1 in the midweeks? I really wish that got #1, would've madea brilliant #1 :(
February 1, 201114 yr Also, Oasis 'Let There Be Love' was overtaken by Pussycat Dolls 'Stickwitu' over the week. Oasis are pretty much the Kings of this. And Wheatus 'Teenage Dirtbag', too, eventually lost out to Atomic Kitten 'Whole Again' despite leading in the midweeks. Ugh, injustices. If "Songbird" was midweek #1 and ended up #3, most of their #2s probably were as well. Stop Crying Your Heart Out
February 1, 201114 yr The Supermen Lovers were #1 in the midweeks? I really wish that got #1, would've madea brilliant #1 :( Yeah, and lost out to Bob the Builder's Mambo No. 5 :drama: Definitely a chart injustice there. Ugh, injustices. If "Songbird" was midweek #1 and ended up #3, most of their #2s probably were as well. Stop Crying Your Heart Out  I don't remember if Stop Crying Your Heart Out was midweek #1, but it was up against the mega-selling Elvis vs JXL so there's a high chance it probably wasn't, you'd be pleased to know. But like I said, I really don't remember. And yeah, I remember Songbird was the Smash Hits Chart #1 - because they did their charts a day earlier on the Saturday, probably so they could claim to be ahead, even if they did often look silly with the wrong #1 like on that occassion
February 1, 201114 yr Elton John - Electricity was a midweek #1 that only ended up #4 due to a high number of early downloads linked to some competition.
February 1, 201114 yr Tinie Tempah's Frisky started off at #1 last year, before being overtaken by that God-awful Shout for England thing - although that was because that was only released mid-week iirc. Similarly, between 2005 and 2007, because the X Factor winner's physical release didn't kick in until Wednesdays, the Xmas midweek #1 would always be different before being overtaken by the XF winner. I remember in 2007 Kate Nash's foundations having the midweek #1 for like 3 consecutive weeks, before the poor cow always had it swiped from under her nose by a few hundred copies at the last minute by Umbrella or something else.

Does everybody here hate Kate Nash?
February 2, 201114 yr One that hasn't been mentioned yet was Liberty X - Got To Have Your Love... I don't know if it were midweek #1 but it as #1 on CD:UK iirc only to be #2 against Atomic Kitten's 'The Tide Is High'. And the Bon Jovi - Everyday week was epic! P!nk started off at #7 due to a barcode issue with 'Just Like A Pill' and then by the end of the week was #1 and they were #5  That was like a week after the Liberty X/Atomic Kitten smackdown I think.
February 2, 201114 yr Back in the physical day, rock artists with big fanbases started off really well in the mids and by Sunday would plummet quite a bit. Dance acts had the opposite fortune and climbed due to the so called "weekend effect". There are loads and loads of cases, but I remember one week in particularly by the climbs of Lasgo - Alone and Snap - Do You See The Light '02, they were in the mids #13 and #21 respectively, and ended up at #7 and #14.
February 2, 201114 yr I remember a Stereophonics single that started off at #2 in the midweeks and ended up at #11 on the singles chart.
February 2, 201114 yr Blur - Tender was ahead of Britney Spears - Baby One More Time in the early sales flashes, too, but ended up getting beaten quite convincingly :( So the best song by one of the best bands of all time was beaten by an over-hyped load of rubbish. What more can I say?
February 2, 201114 yr Author I was gonna mention Oasis - IOT which went from #1 to #12. IIRC the very first Radio 1 midweek chart was wrong. I can't remember what it actually was though. Was this thread started because of the Bruno Mars/Jessie J thing that's happening this week? More because of the Kesha/Bruno thing last week. Unless a new single is really dominant, there's always a chance of the initial #1 changing later in the week, as new releases take a day or so to gain full momentum.
