February 1, 201114 yr I think once the itunes data was missing from the chart once, and I think Oasis I'm Outta Time was midweek number 1 for a day in October 2008 sometime also in 2007, White Stripes and Maroon 5 were number 1 in the mids I think, but were both dethroned by Rihanna by the end of the week Edited February 1, 201114 yr by chart wizard
February 1, 201114 yr Author I think we're getting away from the original premise here, of changing #1's since R1 started their midweek countdown...
February 1, 201114 yr I think we're getting away from the original premise here, of changing #1's since R1 started their midweek countdown... No, the topic just evolved to something more interesting, lol :P I recall/know about these ones: McFly - That Girl Supermen Lovers - Starlight Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You Robbie Williams - Old Before I Die Supergrass - Richard III Will Young - Don't Let Me Down/You and I 911 - More Than A Woman The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) Embrace - Nature's Law Edited February 1, 201114 yr by superbossanova
February 1, 201114 yr Nothin' On You by B.o.B. was #1 in the mid-weeks, but got beaten by David Guetta/Fergie/etc. in the end. Infact, I think that week, Gettin' Over You wasn't even top 10 in the first mid-weeks! Although that was partly because they charted all the remixes seperately, before combining them at the end of the week.
February 1, 201114 yr well I think theres not been a lot- Saturdays, Eminem and Adele from what I can recall
February 1, 201114 yr professor green - i need you tonight That was never midweek #1. I remembered another. Shane Richie's 'I'm Your Man' was #1 all week before Will Young's 'Leave Right Now' got it right at the end. I think that would've gone down in history as a big chart injustice.
February 1, 201114 yr Oh, and that week Love the Way You Lie was mid-week #1, I think that was becauase the iTunes data was missing. Although it still counts, I suppose.
February 1, 201114 yr I was gonna mention Oasis - IOT which went from #1 to #12. IIRC the very first Radio 1 midweek chart was wrong. I can't remember what it actually was though. Was this thread started because of the Bruno Mars/Jessie J thing that's happening this week? Edited February 1, 201114 yr by ★BlindFaithBray★
February 1, 201114 yr Iirc, Freak Power 'Turn On, Tune In, Freak Out' was midweek #1 back in March 1995 but ended up charting at no. 3 on the Sunday. Celine Dion and Alex Party held the top 2 positions both as non movers.
February 1, 201114 yr Surely everyone remembers Cascada/Michael Jackson and the hilarious uproar over it .
February 1, 201114 yr Blur - Tender was ahead of Britney Spears - Baby One More Time in the early sales flashes, too, but ended up getting beaten quite convincingly :(
February 1, 201114 yr When 'Umbrella' was #1 it was knocked off the mids loads of times. Also 'Poker Face' and 'Don't Upset The Rhythm' was a big one!
February 1, 201114 yr That was never midweek #1. I remembered another. Shane Richie's 'I'm Your Man' was #1 all week before Will Young's 'Leave Right Now' got it right at the end. February 1, 201114 yr Surely everyone remembers Cascada/Michael Jackson and the hilarious uproar over it . The Cascada song remains one of the worst songs in history to this day.
February 1, 201114 yr Was it Cascade that beat Michael Jackson to #1? :o I always thought it was La Roux. I guess my memory is just poor now. :(
February 1, 201114 yr Oh yeah. Obviously the True Steppers vs. Spiller and Sophie Ellis-Bextor battle! Also, I remember Rachel Stevens vs. Black Eyed Peas ('Sweet Dreams (My LA Ex)' vs. 'Where Is The Love?') being quite a close battle throughout the week. Was Kate Nash ever number 1 in the mids the week she was 13 copies or whatever behind Timbaland? Speaking of Rachel, S Club's final single Say Goodbye was heading for #1 in the mids until R Kelly's Ignition kept it off on the Sunday...shame, would have been a fitting way to end their career.
February 1, 201114 yr Surely everyone remembers Cascada/Michael Jackson and the hilarious uproar over it . DON'T REMIND ME. That was an absolute disgrace. First he dies then he's beaten to a posthumous #1 by CASCADA?!? (I got a warning for 'spoiling' the extremely obvious outcome ) Edited February 1, 201114 yr by ★BlindFaithBray★
February 1, 201114 yr Sugababes album "Sweet 7" was midweek number 1 before it fell all the way to 14. Haha.
