I'm extremely surprised at how low it is in OZ and NZ at the moment compared to the rest of the world :o Was it released later in those 2 territories or what?

You can tell someone is massive when even Japan (the world's most xenophobic music market) is getting involved.

They were asleep at the time of release :)

Fair point about them being asleep but I would have thought enough Australians would have stayed up to get her higher than #41 at the stage that post was posted. #11 seems like a fair enough position in NZ considering that.

Oz/Nz are lowest probably because it's half 6 in the morning there, well in Sydney anyway, and even earlier further west :P.
OK. Here's how i see it! Over 8 millions followers on Twitter and almost 30 millions fans on Facebook! Only the promo that she will get from those sites is huge! And still from all those millions, i think at least some thousands are from UK....blah blah. Nothing can stop my optimism now

But how many people who follow Gaga on Twitter are even big fans of her? I think you'd be surprised. A lot of people follow famous people for no reason other than just because they're famous, or if someone is particularly interesting. Then you have Gaga who is the most followed person on Twitter, and has a massive media profile, so a lot of people will just follow her just to be part of that. Obviously some people who follow her will be big fans, but a lot of them won't. Plus a lot of people follow a person and then totally forget about it, same with Facebook groups. Why do you think Bird is the Word "only" got to #3 despite having a few hundred thousand followers on Facebook I believe. It works the same with popstars like Gaga. Plus you have people who don't even use Twitter anymore but still kept their account. It all adds up.

She does have a big fanbase... but she'd have to be selling at a similar rate to how she has been the past 6 hours to get the official #1 this week, for the rest of the chart week. I really can't imagine that happening as things will surely die down by tomorrow at the latest to a more normal level.

Next week is her big chance... and it doesn't look like anything can stop her then at this point unless something massive comes along from the BRITs.

Isn't it only just turned morning in Oz/NZ? If so, it was released in the middle of the night, so its no surprise really its still so low.

Yeah, it just jumped to #2 in New Zealand and #34 in Australia so I don't think there's anything to worry about in those territories.

Billboard count single sales until Sunday night (Monday is the start of their sales week rather than Sunday as ours is) and airplay until Tuesday. They predicted 500k in 3 days and I'm starting to really believe it's possible given the HUGE promo she has lined up!!

#34 IS a worrying position, even when considering the time zone there, I'd say... Wasn't Australia one of her biggest markets (taking into account the total population of different countries) for the whole The Fame/Monster era?

BTW in for shock Australian (relative) flop? :o

Nah, she'll be fine.

#2 in NZ is great, where's she up to in Japan?

Agree. But still how many people that are not fans and not aware of BTW, will hear it because of Facebook and Twitter? And we are talking about monsters - obsessed fans that some of those will buy 2 or 3 times the song! I know, i'm over overenthusiastic...imagine if she makes number one with just 2 days! Ever happened before?

Where did Katy Perry 'I Kissed A Girl' enter when she was released on a Friday? Was it #4? If so, how much did she sell in that week?

I'm sure it was like 130something first week iirc, but then shot up to number 4!

I believe Elton John - Candle In The Wind sold all 658,000 copies he debuted at #1 with in one day (Saturday).

#2 in NZ is great, where's she up to in Japan?

#11 in Japan, and it's up to #1 in NZ now.

#31 in AUS

McFly could rise later, their first performance/ promo piece of That's the Truth is tonight on Comedy Rocks. ITV1 are advertising their appearance a lot
If The Time didn't do half as well as they expected, then does that mean they were expecting it to sell like 1,200,000 and outsell I Gotta Feeling?

LOL, it didn't did half as well as expected, face it. It didn't even reach #1 at the HOT 100 and its sales in the US, and in most of the planet, were nothing to write home about, especially considering how well their previous singles sold. The SuperBowl halftime perf, which was watched by 75% of the US population, will prob help the song sales but still...

Katy Perry was released on Wednesday (due to the fake versions) and got strictly to #4. She had 2.5 days more than GaGa!

TT(DB) went to #1 on US iTunes for the first time after Super Bowl although it didn't stay there for long.

TT(DB) did underperform (as did The Beginning obviously) but I don't think it's fair to call them flops just yet. The Beginning was obviously rushed out, if they spend some time on album 7 it'll probably be a lot better and more successful I'm sure. And TT(DB) wasn't exactly a flop itself, it was still a big hit worldwide and would be considered massive if it wasn't unfortunately timed right after what was possibly one of the biggest eras for any band ever...

I'm starting to look like Eric Blob here with all these long(ish) posts I'm writing, especially as this one is defending the BEPs from flop allegations
