I know, i'm actually going to listen to it for this first time in AGES. :D

Yeah me too, I did want champion to go number 1 though as it's only change and I like the song but I do like Gaga as well, so it be a close call, whoever wins

Infact, the two longest Chart Show threads of all time on here are the two chart battles that Lady Gaga got involved in.

Lady Gaga vs. The Noisettes in 2009

Lady Gaga vs. Tinie Tempah in 2010

I could understand the fuss with Telephone vs. Pass Out, because it was VERY close, and at the time, we thought it could be Telephone's only chance at #1, but the Poker Face chart battle seemed a bit pointless to get worked up over really, since it had already been #1 before. Once a song has got the "#1 title", I don't really care for the weeks after (unless it's against a song I hate).

are you sure it wasn't Lady Gaga vs Flo Rida? in which Gaga was the (very) surprise victor?

the Rage vs Joe thread was also pretty big if I remember

Gaga, will no doubt be top 30 on Sunday, it shows how loved Gaga is and i do expect this to go number one.

Hope the video is released sooner than later.

Yes, Gaga is very suprising but the more suprising thing is 'Champion' has over-taken 'Price Tag' again when 'Price Tag' had built up a good lead against 'Champion' earlier today.

Can a song going to number 1 with two days of sales, up against songs which had a week?

I wouldn't rule out Price Tag either just yet, as it over took Champion at one point, I'm confused how the end results will be but it's definitely one hot race to the top.

I think she'll sell about 90,000 this week, tbh.

If by 'this week' you mean today and tomorrow, that'd require constant sales of close to 3 copies every 4 seconds for the entirety of its first 34 hours of availability. That doesn't seem possible to me.

If you're talking about next week, fair enough. Then it'll need to keep up 3 copies every 20 seconds for the whole week. Slightly more achievable.

Price Tag was never significantly ahead of Champion.

Was there ever a Lady Gaga vs. Flo Rida? I presume you're talking about Right Round, but that beat The Saturdays to #1, so it must've been the week before the other charity song, Islands in a Stream, and I'm pretty sure Right Round debuted at #1. Or did it hang around at #2 for a while, and hence ended up in more chart battles?

I don't know basically. But I don't think Right Round could've been in competition for #1 for more than 2 weeks? I can't remember though.

I definitely remember Poker Face vs. The Noisettes happened though, which was a really close one.

Theoretically yes but Lady GaGa is extremely unlikely to do so.

The week after Islands... RR was #1 in all the midweeks and looked certain to return to #1 but then Poker Face was somehow #1 by a tiny margin despite it never making #1 on iTunes that week.

Poker Face overtook Right Round at the last minute, the week after Islands In The Stream got to number 1

Where will she likely chart then? I'm not sure how it quite works, I'm assuming mainly overall sales combined but because Gaga has came out today, Champion and Price Tag would have a larger lead right? lol sometimes I think it's whoever is at the Top of itunes get's the number but I guess it don't quite work like that realistically.

Ah, okay, that's 3 chart battles then! :o Someone should dig out the old threads, to see which was the longest of all (I'd guess Telephone vs. Pass Out, because people got VERY into that one!).

I didn't remember Right Round hanging around for that long! :o It deserved it though.

She could chart anywhere between 3 and 15 I reckon. There's no real way to predict it. I suppose we'll find out on Sunday :P

Ugh, I remember when Poker Face denied Noisettes a #1, that really pissed me off :( Didn't Noisettes get to #1 on iTunes and lead Poker Face like 2:1 at one point?

Has anyone mentioned the TV promo for 'Born This Way'? Just noticed it during 'American Idol' on ITV2, could help it a bit, not seen it mentioned
Also people, Glee will be performing BTW during this season ^_^

No one watches American Idol in the UK.

I suppose leeching off currently popular songs even earlier than they were already doing (with TD, Firework, FY etc.) is better than covering songs which are clearly made up ('Touch A Touch A Touch A Touch Me'? 'Sweet Transvestite'? What the hell?)

Ok, I guess we have to wait and see then, the whole straight to radio, same day release thing is gonna change how the charts will look and I can see many future meant to be numbers during mid week, start to miss out at the last minute to acts with Bigger fanbase, Lady Gaga is huge at the moment, the fact she's number 1 already says it all.

Okay, Pass Out vs. Telephone was 46 pages: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109167

Right Round vs. Poker Face was 34 pages: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90779

Noisettes vs. Poker Face was also 46 pages: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=91166

I think the Right Round vs. Poker Face thread might've been shorter because NOBODY was expecting it. The others, everybody knew Gaga was in with a chance, but that it'd be very close, and could go either way.

Why does Gaga have to be involved for people to get into it though? :(
