Listen to the chart show later :P

Listening to JK&Joel? That was a good joke

HDL is not just a rent-a-rapper type song, if it had snoop or nelly as rappers then it would have been but wyclef is a respected song writer and producer, this is a quality collaboration he wanted to work with her cause he loved 'la tortura' and it shows he raps about how they are both from 3rd world countries (you wouldn't get that from snoop or nelly) they do have an authentic connection and you believe wyclef when he sings/raps about shakira, i think people feel that its quality and different thats why its doing so well and works so well

what a load of twaddle!!! its almost some management speak bobbins there in that paragraph.

think wyclef is probably thought of as some hasbeen compared to nelly and snoop.

and im sure that the country of columbia wouldnt want to think of itself as some 3rd world country, more of an emerging power along with a big block of south american countries who are trying to assert their power again american dominance. such as Venezuela and film making.

It is still a very poor country with lots of fighting and corruption - they may not want to think of themselves as thrid world but they are.

good to see that you are arguing about columbia's place in the world and not wyclef's so called musical genius

actually I think you will find that it is, its ravaged by war, there are thousands of orphans with no parents and as shakira once said 'Wer own a paradise, but we live in a hell'

and HDL isnt just a rent-a-rapper, Wyclef was in one of the biggest bands in the world that revolutionised hip hop, and since then he has made some thought provoking tracks and albums, such as 'the preachers son'

he may be seen as a has been compared to snoop dogg, but he is much more klyrcially intelligent than him, and is capable of writing than simply about guns and hoe's.

and as for your coment about Colombia, they may like to think they are a gaining power, but until it sorts out the poverty and civil war within tiself then it has a long road to follow

so what if he was relevant years and years ago. Public Enemy was supposed to be the most revolutionary hip hop band ever (and on hiphop documentaries always mentioned in the same breath as malcolm X etc etc) and now they are only known for flav on his reality tv shows.

So? they still revolutionised hip hop, it doesnt matter how long ago it was, and most music fans are able to realise the impact they had on music. Even if his solo music hasnt been as successful as his music with the fugees, it has been critically acclaimed and he is a very respected rapper/producer, much more respected than people such as 50 cent will ever be no matter how much his next album sells

in what way. i cant say about the time they were out but from 2006 all they seemed to do was cover a really really old song and use an enya sample before diddy did

i was in hmv yesterday shakira was selling well even though it was £2.99 but rihanna was looking like a big seller too her single is at £0.99!! WTF!! christina was doing ok but they had alot on the shelves at £1.99 and madonna was in three formats and the picture disc was doing well, i can't see shakira getting #1 the competition is selling at cheaper prices

Oh, they used that same 99p trick with Nelly Furtado on her week of release. The record company drop the price of it for weekend sales because they're desperate for it to get #1.

i noticed hmv sell ehr album for £13.99 where i am too :o

well sometimes the thing about revolution is that you have be there to realise what an impact they had, but I don't understand how you dont understand what an impact they ahd on impact. Public Enemy were one of the first hip hop acts to use political messeges in there lyrics, and used the power that they had to tell the world the poverty that the black people lived in.

The Fugees were much more than an enya sample and a cover song, and tbh as a hip hop fan I find that quite offensive towards the genre. Lauren was, and still is an amazing rapper and singer, Wyclef was behind the sogns, and gave some thought provoking raps and used samples from older sogns to make some of the classic fugee songs what they became
