The Brits will have a bigger effect than the Grammys, but if any songs/artists are successful and have news stories about them, then that will likely to give them a small boost.
No, the only proper Grammy effect I can remember at all in the UK was Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me" going top 3 after her several Grammy wins.
Is it even shown in the UK?
Wednesday Night, ITV2, 10pm.

Ah right :D Might watch it, I usually don't though because I find that it goes on for HOURS.

Oh God, i know. :drama: Plus the add breaks...

I guess it would have an affect.

ALL promotion can effect the chart, however small it is, but usually it's not noticeable.

Its definitely a show for the SKY+ so you can skip all the "best group performance of a reggae influenced country and western ballad" type awards!

what about a brits affect topic - we arent american you know and the brits will have a massive affect on the chart - alot of old songs will re-enter the top 40, maybe even the top 10.remember use soimebody and sex on fire re-entered the top 10 after 2009.also there may be another release like dizzee/florence which hit no2 last year!!

Thanks, i was wondering too, will watch it then.

To dismiss it with 'No', isnt the right answer. It can effect the chart, especially with news coverage, and social networks such as facebook and twitter.

No doubt Gaga will get 90% of the press coverage so her sales next week could be higher then expected.

The OP was asking if the Grammys might affect the charts. e.g. Have they done so in part years, etc?

We KNOW for a fact that the BRITs have a large impact on the chart. Last year, for example, Empire State of Mind went back into the top 10 on iTunes, and there was Dizzee and Florence's song. I don't think there's a point in starting a thread asking whether the BRITs will have a notable impact on the charts when, firstly, we know the answer (yes), and secondly, even if you haven't followed the charts in previous years, it's easy to work out that the BRITs will impact the chart through the use of logic. It's not so easy to do this with the Grammys, because it's not the typical "show it on prime-time TV and everybody watches" type thing, which we observe all the time. It's more of a "watch it on youtube, they talk about it in the news, they show it later on some random channel which nobody watches, etc" type thing, which is much harder to predict what effect it will have.
