The Charlies, Oh My! enter TBO semi-finals

At last night's ceremony in Caerfryddia to reveal the semi finalists for this year's The Best Of, Unovia had reason to celebrate. 8th placed BJSCXXXVI entry Kicking And Screaming by Oh My joined 3rd placed BJSCXL entry Monster (Eat Me) by The Charlies in making the semis. Unovia's other 2 entries, XXXII's Alex Young with Government and IXLs Nabiha with Trouble, sadly failed to also make it.

Helena Paparizou, Joe Jonas qualify for TBO Rejects

They may have had a disappointing showing by DNQing in their respective contests but the two acts had a decent showing for TBO Rejects as they both made the final. As Unovia's only DNQs, the country is thrilled to have both get through. Joe and Helena join Oh My! and The Charlies, who qualified for the overall TBO semis earlier in the week.

Dia Frampton makes XLI final

American singer Dia Frampton has lived up to the odds tonight at the 41st Buzzjack Song Contest, as her track Billy The Kid made it through it's semi final, joining 30 other entries in the grand final in Green Forest, Greenfroze. This marks a 6th straight qualification for Unovia, and odds suggest Dia has a good chance at getting them a 5th top 10 finish.

Dia Frampton finishes 5th

It was a fabulous start to the next decade of BJSC for Unovia, as The Voice star Dia Frampton soared into 5th position with her track Billy The Kid. Described as an 'oddball indie-dance cowboy anthem', the song received great reception, especially from Syndare, Numayania, ChrIseland and Kopecka, who gave Dia the big 12 points! This saw Dia do as well as expected and then some, as odds had her down for a 7th-10th finish. Billy The Kid's top 5 placing places it 2nd in the grand ranking of Unovian entries, as only last month's The Charlies' track Monster (Eat Me) managed a higher finish, when it placed 3rd. Billy The Kid marks the 5th top 10 finish for Unovia overall, and the 3rd consectutive. Shortly after the event, Queen Naya Rivera announced her pleasure, stating: 'It's amazing how taste can prevail, as we had a fabulous top 10 overall, and the best thing is Dia doing so well! Watch out for Unovia in 2012 cause I know we have big plans!'

Anjulie for BJSC XLII

http://urbanasian.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/anjulie_bloom.jpg

Anticipation swept the Buzzjack world all through the week as countries submitted their entries for this month's 42nd Buzzjack Song Contest, and this came to a conclusion tonight as hosts Fljótavík revealed the entries from the 45 nations competing to win the contest. Unovia's entry was revealed as Anjulie's pop/R&B track 'Stand Behind The Music', which is the singer's 3rd BJSC entry after she previously represented Eledan with 'Boom' and ChrIseland with 'Brand New Bitch'. The track is currently at 12 in the Unovian charts, but has already made the U-Tunes top 10 in the past few days, and is expected to climb when Anjulie performs at the semi-final next week. Listen to 'Stand Behind The Music' below:

Search for XLIII begins!

Unovian juries have already begun discussing and listening to potential entries for the upcoming 43rd Buzzjack Song Contest, the location of which is unconfirmed but could be hosted in Botanikka after Emma Hewitt's Colours stormed to the victory last night. After a disappointing XLII which saw Unovian entrant Anjulie DNQ, crashing out in the semi finals by finishing 16th with 35 points, pressure is on for Unovia to get back to the form that saw them gain 3 consectutive top 10s with Nabiha, The Charlies and Dia Frampton. Early reports suggest contention is between an 'uber generic but amazing dance-pop anthem from a lady who has competed once in BJSC already as part of a group' and a 'breezy pop track with a soulful twist from a big reality show finalist', although entries may still be submitted to the Unovian board.
