if she does get it this week, it depends on how well Gaga will benefit from the video to see if she can get another week - her video's usually are a pivotal point for her (see 'Telephone'), plus the BRITs effect won't be as strong, so that may challenge her unless she starts getting more airplay

if she does manage to hold her off, then the only thing that would stop her would be Comic Relief in a couple of weeks time

Haha. I really dont think you can say people are getting fed up with her. In 3 days, she had the 3rd biggest debut on the US chart, where the other songs had a full 7 days to impact it.

Born This Way wasnt written for everyone, it was written for her 'cult' following of Monsters, who have understood the process behind it more than anyone. The fact that it has been such a massive hit worldwide, shows how huge her 'cult' following is and is testament to her worldwide appeal.

Leave Taylor alone

She is great at what she does. I don't see the point in Adelle vs Taylor really!

Did you expect Taylor Swift to write the Bohemian Rhapsody to give her any credit?

Adelle and Taylor are different singers, different styles, and write different songs. Any statement like Adelle's writing brilliant songs while Taylor is cheap is STUPID! Do you have any argument to support that really?

Adelle is doing great but don't get mad for Christ's sake!

P.s. Gaga's Cult? Not really!!! Although she is the fame monster she could be what is most mainstream in worldwide music at the moment! TV, internet, radio, magazines... she's all over the media, there is no Gaga cult. It is not as if they are acolytes in hidding!

I hope Gaga doesnt get number 1 with BTW, its doesnt deserve it. I cant see the video making much difference. Its all very samey with Gaga, people are getting fed up with her now.

A small correction: You are getting fed up with GaGa! A huge amount of the world doesn't seem to agree with you

Anyway, i think BTW will probably claim the number 1, after the release of the video! Someone Like You hasn't been confirmed yet as a single and it's really hard for mainstream radios to playlist it! Plus, Rolling In The Deep is still on the rise in Radio airplay! Someone Like You will continue to be big but i think the video of BTW will give it exactly the boost to go number 1!

That pop bar is MASSIVE. I think she could easily clear over 120k this week and get the #1 with ease. Adele is queen.

People getting fed up with Lady GaGa?

Nuff' said, she is the world's biggest superstar of the moment, with Rihanna right behind her. And sh'es known for her amazing videos. Hopefully she'll shoot up to number one when the video is released, I would like her to be number one now but well done to ADELE, its hard to get an amazing combined lead like hers

Gosh, now there's an image! :drama:

Although, to be fair, the S&M video left little to the imagination.

And in response to someone else, just because a song is cacthy, it does not mean you get bored of it after 10 minutes.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I just find it a bit sad to have to rely on a video to get a song to number 1? Surely a song should stand or fall on its aural merits? S'ppose it's a sign of the multi media/format age. And my advancing years. NURSE!! :w00t:

I'll do one more BRITs update around 9:30pm which is close to when the songs' boosts should theoretically be peaking.

I see Bright Lights Bigger City is in the top 300 :D I really hope it can outpeak It's OK, it really should have been the second single IMO as it's nothing like F You whereas It's OK was literally just a continuation of F You.

It needs exposure as well as aural merits.

You'd probably be surprised at the number of people who still have no idea of Born This Way's existence and will only discover it through the video.

Adele's lead is MASSIVE when combined, about twice the size of Jessie J's bar:

(The little black line is where the album version of SLY was, before combining)

Wooaahh..thank God i've got one of those laptops with the widescreen...that bar goes on forever!!

GaGa is running out of steam like an asthmatic walking up a steep incline. That's really quite worrying for fans, isn't it?

Fair enough, but she is the World's biggest pop star! I do think her losing ground on Jessie J especially (3rd week on chart?) won't be impressing her record company. It's not like Jessie j got a Brit performance, just an acceptance speech. GaGa, of course, had a hugely hyped Grammys performance and Jessie J nothing? Not good. Her losing ground on Adele is more understandable..

Not a huge amount of people care about the Grammys here, it's mostly an American thing (although Lady A's Need You Now did get quite a boost on UK iTunes from being both Song and Record of the Year)

GaGa is doing well enough elsewhere in the world, I'm sure they won't care if she misses #1 this week :P It just doesn't yet have enough exposure to sell consistently (as much as it may seem that way). Once the video is out it'll reclimb and stay high.

Either adele or jessie j for number 1 will be great

Gaga wont care if she doesnt make number 1 here, shes already number in on the billboard and thats the big one. Top 5 in the uk is very good baring in mind if she had released it this week like she was supposed to then she would easily have been number 1 over here

GaGa will get to #1 EVENTUALLY once the video is out, so I'd prefer Adele to get to #1 this week.

The world is completely on Adele's shoulders at the moment, I expect the album to sell near the 200K mark this week atleast. :cheer:

So do I. In fact, it may even beat the first week's 208,000. If she'd already sold 90,000 by midnight Wednesday (only 28 hours of after Brits sales), lord only knows what she's sold today :o And the physicals on Saturday should be monstrously high.

Need you now by lady antebellum is now 46 :o

Oh no!! WHHHHHHHHY!!!!!?!?!?!? :puke:

Why can't it be Need You Now by Agnes which was so popular? :(

Edited by Eric_Blob

The live version of Timshel is now down to #50 :( The album version has climbed another couple of places since this morning to #141 though. Hopefully it can at least go top 75 officially.

Presumably because of the Grammys? It went top 80 again after it was shown in the USA and it's now climbing again now it's been shown in the UK. Not sure why it's taken so long to start climbing though.

No, "S&M" is one of the best videos around, and is up there with "Only Girl" and "Umbrella" as her best videos. You can't deny that Rihanna is almost as big as Lady GaGa, she's huge and all over the world, she got 2 UK Number Ones from her latest album, and "S&M" has to be a top 5 hit soon. When I say 'with Rihanna right behind her [Lady GaGa]' I mean that in terms of success;

Lady GaGa >>>>> Rihanna

Of course, in my opinion;

Rihanna >>>>>>>>>>> Lady GaGa

But their both great and amazing popstars
