March 28, 201114 yr This is the main reasoning behind my confidence. Would I be shocked if Blue failed to finish top five - yes. Would I be shocked at any other songs failing to finish top five - no. France, Estonia, Sweden, Russia, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Norway etc... all have potential to do very well, but similarly the likes of France, Sweden, Norway and perhaps Estonia could fail to take off in the way that people seem to be expecting them too. Could Blue sneak a win with loads of 7's and 8's and the odd 10/12 whilst everyone else picks up various volatile sets of high and low points? Maybe. But whether they win or not, the UK are the only country that I'm absolutely certain will finish top five this year.
April 7, 201114 yr Paddy Power: Outright Winner 01 France 5/1 =02 Estonia 6/1 =02 United Kingdom 6/1 04 Bosnia & Herzegovina 8/1 05 Sweden 9/1 =06 Azerbaijan 10/1 =06 Norway 10/1 =08 Germany 12/1 =08 Ireland 12/1 10 Hungary 14/1 - 11 Russia 18/1
April 18, 201114 yr I'm almost tempted to bet on Hungary too - They seem to be getting a solid reaction from everyone and they have good odds too at 14/1!
April 18, 201114 yr I'm almost tempted to bet on Hungary too - They seem to be getting a solid reaction from everyone and they have good odds too at 14/1! Hera was getting the same reaction last year. Sadly Kati Wolf is destined to flop :( . I'm half expecting it to not get out of the semis.
April 18, 201114 yr Paddy Power: Outright Winner =08 Ireland 12/1 Not been keeping up to date with the Eurovision odds, but if Jedward qualify and do well in the contest then the UK will treat Eurovision 2012 like a joke. Even moreso than they did last year. :o

Even moreso than they did last year. :o In fairness, it won't take Jedward doing well for the UK to not take the contest seriously. Even in Ireland the contest is met with both excitement and hatred, but it isn't because X country sent Y song last year... :P I dunno, maybe Ireland will qualify, but it won't be a shocker if we don't. I've given up caring about us in the contest, so I usually follow other countries instead. :(
April 19, 201114 yr Author Hera was getting the same reaction last year. Sadly Kati Wolf is destined to flop :( . I'm half expecting it to not get out of the semis. It'd be catastrophic if she didn't make it out of the semis! Luckily she's in the easier of the semi finals, and has a good position in the draw too. The only countries I see having a greater chance of qualification that Kati are Norway, Russia, Finland (maybe), Azerbaijan and probably Greece too. I suppose Turkey will qualify, Albania more than likely will, Armenia could do, but surely Hungary will be filling one of the final two slots!

I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong, but I'm not getting my hopes up as I'll be extremely disappointed if I do and she does fail to make it through. There isn't really an easy semi final this year, as SF 1 has most of the heavyweight nations and semi final 2 has most of the high quality entries. As far as qualifiers from SF 1 go; Norway, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, Russia, Georgia, Finland, Azerbaijan and Greece are pretty likely to make it through. Serbia might be the "successful" nation that fails and if that is the case, then I expect/hope for Hungary and Iceland to make it through. I can't see Albania progressing this year.
April 20, 201114 yr Is there something I'm not seeing in Finland? Maybe I've not let it grow enough, but it ain't as good as Tom Dice and is just kind of boring. I won't be surprised if they don't make it.

I won't be surprised if they don't make it. I reckon he's one of the most likely qualifiers. Cute boy with guitar always seems to get through. Anyway, I reckon we could see shock failures from one or two of: Greece, Armenia, Turkey and Georgia in SF1. Definite qualifiers Azerbaijan Norway Russia Likely qualifiers Finland Hungary Serbia Notionally certain qualifiers that could struggle Armenia Georgia Greece Turkey Pool of countries likely to make it if any of the above fall Albania Croatia Iceland Poland Switzerland No chance Lithuania Malta Portugal San Marino At the moment I'm calling a fall for Turkey and Georgia with Switzerland and Iceland making it through, but if Greece falls then you can put either Albania or Poland in their place.
April 20, 201114 yr I agree with the majority of that. I'm calling a fall for Armenia. Do they have any more diaspora in this semi than someone like Turkey? The song with that chorus, pretty bad, certainly not up to usual standard.
April 20, 201114 yr Turkey has very little diaspora in this semi, which is why I'm calling a fall for them. Armenia doesn't have much more either, but the difference is that light fluffy europop is far more likely to get through than dad rock - or at least that's how it's gone in the last few years.
April 20, 201114 yr It would seriously be the best thing ever if all of Armenia, Greece and Turkey failed to progress :D But even if the public don't put them through, the juries might well anyway :/
April 20, 201114 yr I've gone off the Finland entry so much. First time I heard it, I LOL'd at his singing it was that bad/weird. Then I forced myself to listen to it "seriously" (ie; think watching Jedward on TV without having the urge to change the channel) and for about 2 days I thought it wasn't as bad as I first hought. Then it all disappeared and now I think his singing is bad/weird again. I tried. :(
April 20, 201114 yr I really don't like Finland's entry because it's based around being eco-friendly and 'save-our-planet' messages which are really tacky and it's a complete 'rip-off' from Belgium's success last year. The song title is just ridiculous as those lyrics (da da dam) were just 'plonked' in there, and aren't actually needed at all and they don't mean anything! Rant Over. :drama:
