April 26, 201114 yr I had to apply for a proxy vote as well, given that I'm in the wrong continent for the elections. I sent off the letter the day the temporary proxy opened to make sure that it arrived on time. I just hope I can trust my mum to carry out my electoral wishes.
April 26, 201114 yr You don't need your polling card to vote. As long as you are registered, you can vote. If you are at university and in a hall of residence, they should have registered everybody in the hall. It told me my polling station was one near my home address, so will i be registered in the one in london as well?

I sent off the letter the day the temporary proxy opened to make sure that it arrived on time. I just hope I can trust my mum to carry out my electoral wishes. That's the risk with a proxy vote. I once acted as a proxy (by post  ) for my brother. However, as he wanted to vote Lib Dem and I was a Lib Dem councillor at the time, he could be pretty confident I'd vote the way he wanted. If you know how you want to vote when you apply for a proxy you can choose someone connected with the campaign. Otherwise, it's down to trust.

If you're in private accommodation, it depends on whether anyone completed the registration form and whether they did it correctly.
April 27, 201114 yr Author So, Baroness Warsi, the woman who said AV was immoral because it would cause politicians to pitch to BNP sympathisers, had some interesting literature in her failed campaign to become an MP in 2005: “ARE YOU THINKING OF VOTING BNP? THINK AGAIN… The BNP polled 1632 votes at the last general election. They CANNOT win this Parliamentary seat. The BNP therefore CANNOT deliver. If you vote BNP you are allowing Labour to CREEP IN with more political correctness and uncontrolled immigration and asylum. If you want an end to political correctness, an end to yob culture, a tough stance on crime, a stop to Europe dictating to Britain and controlled immigration, VOTE CONSERVATIVE, the only party that can DELIVER and put you FIRST.” Huh.

April 29, 201114 yr oh. actually just came into this thread to post that! will give you this instead http://webofevil.livejournal.com/664043.html
April 29, 201114 yr oh. actually just came into this thread to post that! will give you this instead http://webofevil.livejournal.com/664043.html That misses another deceitful graphic from the no campaign. They show a chart with one candidate just short of getting 50% with the second placed candidate not far behind. They then show a third candidate with roughly half as many votes as the second candidate plus another two candidates with a much smaller share of the vote. Using the 50% line as a guide the total adds up to at least 130%. The worst thing is that these tactics by the No campaign could have been predicted months ago but the Yes campaign don't seem to have been prepared for it.

April 30, 201114 yr One question for Cameron. "In the Tory leadership election of 2005, you came second in the first round. Will you now resign on the grounds that your election was not fair?" Quite. The conservative party doesn't use first past the post for it's leader elections because it's not the best system. I'm voting for AV. I expect the outcome on May the 5th to be a big no vote. That means will have ongoing tactical voting in the future without getting what people want in politics. Dumbing down rules again.
April 30, 201114 yr I wasn;t sure if I was going to vote because I've got a 3 1/2 hour exam on the same day so have more important things to be worrying about on Thursday. However I've since realised that the place where I vote is the school opposite the flats I live in! I'd only previously looked at the postcode, I didn't realise that the road next to mine was S10 when I live in S3, especially as the road the other side is S1!

You've got no excuse then :D On a slightly different subject, that helps to demonstrate why we should vote at the weekend in line with most of Europe. That school presumably started the new term on Tuesday before closing again yesterday on Monday. the children will then be back for two days before yet another day off.
April 30, 201114 yr Author It looks like it's pretty much "game over" for the "Yes" campaign - the polls over the last few days have shown "No" has now crept past the 50% mark - meaning "Yes" would not only have to win over everyone who is currently undecided, they'd also have to convert some "No" voters. I wonder how long Clegg will last after that?
April 30, 201114 yr When the disgraceful lies from the No campaign wins, i'm praying the coalition collapses. Not instantly, but a good old fashion implosion over a few months.

I wonder how long Clegg will last after that? I'm not very hopeful but the polls are still very unreliable. A lot of polls have suggested that the turnout will be around 50 - 60%. However, it is more likely to be around half that. If the Yes campaign can get the vote out there is still hope that they can defeat the lies of the No campaign.

One would hope so, although Thatcher got another 8 years after her actions during the Falkland War. Edited April 30, 201114 yr by Brett-Butler
