I hope this is their best album, and not full of fillers :(

Really looking forward to hearing the song with Travie McCoy  Anyway, I think if MHTO gets promoted well (X Factor performance anyone?) then they could have a good chance with this going top 5, maybe even top 3!

Speaking of X Factor, anyone think they'll get a slot this year? No doubt One Direction & Westlife will be on the week the album is released, but maybe they could?

I think the album might even peak at around #10-13 they have such strong competition on their release week and strong competition the weeks before. I remember Mcfly somehow only managed to peak at around #16 with their album and Shine A Light was highly successful.

Let's not be so pessimistic :(

McFly only charted at #16 because their fans got the album free with a subscription to their website.

Anyone planning on buying 5/6 copies needs HELP. I could understand if each edition of the album had some content specific to the girl (ie. maybe bonus videos/photos/track by track commentary from the girls) but it's the same album with a different cover.

Haha, I know!

I'm not even going to get a slipcase, seeing as I don't particularly care for the actual girls, but like their music; I'll get it from Amazon once my NUS card has come through

i think we will all be plesently surprised at how well this album does. . . . .
I hope there's a few more Xenomania tracks on the album. They were papped down at the Xenomania studios in Kent just before they stopped recording for the album.. might not mean anything but fingers crossed.

Tim Deal had confirmed they had recorded "tracks", ie more than one. Not sure if they've all made the cut however..

Not sure if this has been posted before, but here were the sales margins needed to reach certain positions in previous years, in the same respective week that The Saturdays are releasing in this year.

Obviously #1 sales are the most unpredictable, they can vary greatly. Lower down, you can generally see the sort of margins that are needed in that week of the year.

No doubt The Saturdays need to achieve their best opening week ever, to attain a respectable position - they'll possibly need about double the opening figures that Chasing Lights & Headlines achieved, to go Top 10.

I don't see why they shouldn't be able to achieve a good first week. They're proceeding this album with three singles, presumably My Heart Takes Over will be a Top 10, so they've set the album up as well as they possibly could have, hit wise. I think they're in a much, much stronger position for this album than they were with Wordshaker.

its interesting because we are basically saying for the album to go top ten it needs to double their "usual" opening sales. and if they don't (and sell 22k) they probably will enter at like #18. And I honestly believe if that happend, it would pretty much spell out the end of the saturdays.

Does anybody know how many copies GA sold with their first weeks of albums? I know Chemistry was their first "winter" release and it only got to #11...

So, for a top 10 we're looking at ideally OYR shifting around 40k+ first week? Do we think they could manage that? I'm not so sure.. nervous! I'm excited for the album but at the same time horribly worried about it flopping.:(

They seem to have finally taken their time with this record so I hope there isn't too much filler like Wordshaker.

Looking below at the sales figures for GA, would we say Tangled Up is the most comparable in terms of potential sales and release date?

Here are the Girls Aloud album first week figures!

85,717 - What Will The Neighbours Say? [to enter at #6 on 5th December 2004]

85,670 - Out Of Control [to enter at #1 on 9th November 2008]

84,354 - The Sound Of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits [to enter at #1 on 5th November 2006]

81,962 - Chemistry [to enter at #11 on 11th December 2005]

49,065 - Tangled Up [to enter at #4 on 25th November 2007]

37,077 - Sound Of The Underground [to enter at #2 on 1st June 2003]

26,000+ - Sound Of The Underground (Re-Release) [to place at #42 on 7th December 2003]

I remember when Girls Aloud fans were quite disappointed by the 49k opening for 'Tangled Up', lol, we'd become accustomed to 80k+. It had started out at midweek #2, and obviously trailed off by Sunday. It did end up selling around 500,000+ copies in total though.

'Chemistry' was just aggravating, because of how close they were to making the Top 10. They were only prevented from #10 by 231 copies (The Pussycat Dolls - PCD). Both PCD & Sugababes' Taller In More Ways happened to be on special offer in that week, both overtaking Girls Aloud in the midweeks ('Chemistry' started at midweek #6, lol).

hmmm... i suppose WWTNS? is the most compareable to this campaign (3 singles before hand, 2 of which very catchy and popular, then the ballad which was #1) but I guess WWTNS? had a big charity #1 which had LOADS of publicity so perhaps its not so comparable after all!

deep down, as long as the album is of good quality, gets good reviews and i enjoy it ill be happy. but it would be nice for the girls to have a hit album. ideally it will go platinum, but as somebody said before its either gonna sell shit loads over christmas, or fall under the heavy sales and big releases.

PopJustice have the album and as a reult they're on the PJ Almighty at #2. PJ said "they have a very good album" or something like that.

Chemistry sold SHED loads in their first week. Considering their chart position.

Such a shame that it only got to number 11. Such an amazing album. Critical acclaim here there and everywhere.

*goes to listen to Chemistry*

In terms of The Saturdays, I believe that we will get a Top 10 album, maybe even a Top 5. Their campaign has been a lot stronger than the past two (Wordshaker and Headlines, granted Headlines was released in summer, whereas these are in Xmas period), with the three singles before the album. I think that by doing this, casual fans will have heard at lwast 3 tracks, and this may lead to the casual fans to buy the album. BTW, what were the peaks of CL, Wordshaker and Headlines! on iTunes?

I remember Headlines peaked at 1 on iTunes then fell to eventually chart at 3.

Yeah, Headlines peaked at #1. Mollie put a pic up on her Twitter on release day: http://twitpic.com/2f9ai5

I know they haven't had brilliant sales openings but that was at different times of the year, I really think that as it's winter, OYR will have at least a 50k opening, especially with 3 moderately popular singles beforehand (I say this assuming MHTO does around about as well as AFU, it could of course do much better and sell 70k+, we don't know yet).

I specifically remember Wordshaker being at #1 on the iTunes chart, and getting my hopes up that it'd be #1 in the midweeks. Untill I realised the iTunes album chart had like a 15% share of album sales.

Jesus! Sorry to bring this up here, but what were the top 10 sales and albums of 2005?! :o
Who do we think will have the most vocals on this album? I can see it being quite Rochelle/Vanessa heavy.
