November 11, 201113 yr I so want to hear this!! Was really disappointed when it wasn't on the album because I loved it on tour!
November 11, 201113 yr NUnWYwVhUMw *sigh* I think it's the best quality of the live version we've got though. Edited November 11, 201113 yr by Neil
November 11, 201113 yr Hahaha, typical it would be the live version lol. Maybe they'll use it as a future b-side.
November 11, 201113 yr I was expecting a studio version or a free download or something :( Never mind, it's good to have a HQ live version :)
November 11, 201113 yr Oh, I was expecting a studio version. :( But yeah, probably the best quality live version, and it still sounds great.
November 12, 201113 yr Really not feeling as optimistic about the release as I was. This is going to drop like a stone isn't it? :( Wordshaker Part II. It'll get lost in the crowd while everyone rushes for Rihanna and 1D won't it? Plus releases from the weeks before (such as Pixie, JLS, The Wanted, SuBo, Cher etc) still potentially sitting pretty in the top 10. Edited November 12, 201113 yr by Encore
November 12, 201113 yr I'm not as concerned about the album as for the single. In the end, people already know 3 songs from the album and two of them are still in the top100 of radio airplay.
November 12, 201113 yr I'm not as concerned about the album as for the single. In the end, people already know 3 songs from the album and two of them are still in the top100 of radio airplay. Same! I always knew the album wouldn't be a #1, but I belive it will do quite well during the festive period, its released in the week many get paid, it has the four weeks before christmas to get sales and then will hopefully stick around with another single in the new year. remember, EGO was released like 4 months after FIO, so if they stick a single out early on they can stabalize it, plus there is the tour, and we already know they are definatly performing songs from OYR on the tour, so they will target a lot of concert go-ers then too. MHTO might surprise us all....
November 12, 201113 yr Author At the end of the day, the high sales period is starting, so it does'nt really matter where it charts as long as it sells. Look at Headlines last year, it sold something 8k for #11 and then on Christmas week it sold 8k at #50 something. As long as it stays top 40 untill the end of the year, that would be good for them. They've picked the wrong time to tour unfortunately, it's going to prevent them from promoting the record. Tours do not sell albums. Fans go to the tour who will already own the album (possible multi coppies too) so why would they want to buy it again? The next single will be out Jan/Feb time i'd imagine. November 12, 201113 yr remember, EGO was released like 4 months after FIO, so if they stick a single out early on they can stabalize it Not really. 'Forever Is Over' came out October 5th, Ego was out January 4th on CD. That was 3 months, but 'Ego' was charting well in advance of that release date - the gap felt more like 2 months. 'Ego' was quite a swift follow up in the scheme of things, but it failed to help the album out significantly over Christmas, and it didn't do much for it in January either.
November 12, 201113 yr I must say maybe The Saturdays should have stuck with there old manager Jayne? The thing she's doing for The Wanted is incredible. Promotion On xFactor, non stop promotion on Capital, Strictly performances. Brilliant decision to release Warzone now to radio's and have a video for it to create a buzz regarding the single and keep the album selling well.
November 12, 201113 yr I don't know why they left Jayne, she seemed to be doing so well for them. Does anyone know why? Plus, when they had their flips with her, they were so funny and inpromtu, whereas now, althought they are good, they seem a bit generic. Do you think they will ever go back to her, becuase I don't feel that their current management are doing the best job. Yes, they have had success, but they make mistakes after mistake (Notorious On Air On Sale, Mis-juded promo for all singles, no real talckling of the issue of Vanessa's vocal ability). Or perhaps I am reading too much into it...?
November 12, 201113 yr Hilary Shaw could be good if they ever felt the need to bring in new management.
November 12, 201113 yr Jayne was doing a rubbish job of promoting them and getting them the exposure they needed.
November 12, 201113 yr Author When their singles kept getting canceled after Ego (Here Standing, and One Shot) and their promotion was cut It was no surprise they left Jayne. You also gotta keep in mind she was also with The Wanted at this point so she was dividing her time with them. I'm not saying Jayne did a piss poor job because they where actually handled very well, and as a result, the only major girl group that has broke into the UK market successfully since Girls Aloud. However, the girls had only been on the scene for a year and I think with their lack of experience with the industry (maybe) they switched management a bit prematurely. They where going through a rough patch with Wordshaker under-performing which they probably couldn't understand why (at the time) so they probably just blamed it on their management thus 'firing' her. Jayne has done wonders for The Wanted, however it's known fact that boy bands are much easier to market. There's a much bigger audience for them, so whoever was going to manage The Wanted where going to have an easier time than 'managing' a girl group, like The Saturdays. It was a bit unfortunate that The Wanted's management got a few contacts and had them play their records on repeat on Capital FM and where able to do deals to get them on the X Factor. But like I said, I doubt they would have been able to do the same for The Saturdays as it's a different scenario (talking about target audience etc). The Saturdays where fortunate (or un-fortunate, depends what way you look at it) enough to be in a position where their sub-label Fascination was being divided back into it's parent label Polydor due to financial difficulty. Fascination then seized to exist on the music-selling side so Polydor gave Fascination's founding member Adam a chance to venture into management, and Fascination Management was born. As The Sats where leaving Jayne's group, Fascination Management had just came round so they signed with them I suppose for the familiarity and the years of experience Adam and his team have under their belt. I'm guessing it was very new to them all so these 'bad decisions' we always talk about I'm sure at the time probably weren't, but perhaps ill-advised. You would not know how fast decisions and plans can be changed in the music industry. They pulled it back together for the Headlines release; Got a radio airplay #1, the reality series '24/7', Headlines selling 2-3x more than their previous effort and two consistent selling singles, not to forget the chance to tour again which was a sell-out. I don't think we can really blame on air/on sale for the demise of their 'popularity' (shall we say for now) as on air/on sale has worked for them before with the likes of their post-album singles 'Issues', 'Ego' and 'Higher'. It felt like they gini-pigged the schedule for 'Notorious' as the promotion seemed to be drafted out in an inconsistent way, which eventually meant radios stopping playing it because it fell down the chart, which is why radio's are even more reluctant than ever to play them now due to that slight blip. 'My Heart Takes Over' and 'On Your Radar' will just test how strong a group they are, and just how far their label and management are willing to go for them. They've put a lot of money into this LP which is exactly what they should have done with Wordshaker. Just some of my thoughts, I hope you guys see what I see. :) Edited November 12, 201113 yr by 2ndAdventure
November 12, 201113 yr I'm pretty sure that their management is the head of Fascination? I swear it's Peter Lorraine and co? So realistically, nothing would be any better because all decisions would have to go through him anyway.. I love them but they have always been a bit of a 'lazy' band. The only time I've ever seen them do AMAZING promo is Missing You. As far as promo for the single/album goes, off the top of my head, all I can remember is a radio tour about 5 weeks ago and Alan Carr. They probably have been given promo slots, they just couldn't get them all together. They all seem to have different days/weeks off and I'm not sure why.
