Do we think either of these will be genuine big hits (their biggest since 'Don't Stop Believin'' at least) considering the popularity of Glee and the fact that they're original songs?

'Loser Like Me' is produced and written by pop guru, Max Martin!

'Get It Right' is a bit more theatrical. But a showtune meets 'Cradle' by Atomic Kitten. It's written by legend, Diane Warren

I honestly think they could be pretty big. Will explain more later. But for now I have work!

I don't want to over-estimate them, but I'm think LLM could go top 10 & GIR could go top 20. I want them both top 10, with LLM going top 5
If they release their own material then it's fine, i just find it annoying when they cover every song

I'm not sure, I think they'll do a bit better than the season 2 covers thus far so I said top 20, they could go higher but I don't know, unless there's some sort of indication in the episode that they're original songs the public might just treat it like any old song that they've not heard before and base whether they buy it or not on the actual song rather than the fact it's original...

I do think these have a higher chance of having chart longevity, something the season 2 songs have thus far totally lacked, even worse than season 1 (none of the season 2 songs so far have even spent 3 weeks top 100)

Ugh at one of the acronyms being LLM. I can just tell I'm gonna mistake people discussing it for Little Lion Man :(

They should stick to murdering other people's songs :(

BUT, they should be reasonable hits.

I don't think they'll be big hits - radio won't touch them, and the hits they have before are only because the songs they cover are well known. The show only gives a two-day boost, anyway.
Glee write original songs?

Just these two for now, maybe more if they do well.

It is mentioned in an episode that

Rachel is going to write a couple of original songs for Regionals this year

, and the episode will be titled 'Original Song'.

Original songs by Glee? Surely not...

Right, I've decided to give these a chance and listen to them.

The less said about Loser Like Me the better. f***ing awful.

Get It Right is surprisingly decent, it's a little bit dull but at least it doesn't offend my ears.

No doubts as to which one will be more popular then... <_<

The thing is though, I believe that glee's label are purposely leaking these, so they gain hype and things so that rradio will play them. (both here in the UK and US) if they get the same exposure as 'Don't Stop Believin'', then they will be big hits. I guess it just depends on whether radio and music channels decide to play them.

That said; MAX MARTIN

Yeah, the videos posted are imaginary.

Anyway, I agree with vidcapper. It's going to be VERY difficult for them to get radio airplay. Just because it's Glee Cast tbh. :( The only radio station that I've ever heard playing Glee songs (outside of chart shows) is Radio 1. They played Don't Stop Believin' a lot (I think they actually playlisted it?), and I heard them play Empire State of Mind last year, when it was released in the US. I heard them play Mercy in one of Chris Moyles's shows. I also heard them play one of the Christmas songs. I can't remember exactly how it went. It involved "little", if that helps?

Wasn't DSB already doing well on iTunes when it started getting airplay? But DSB seems to be an exception, it was from the first episode, the song was everywhere at the time (Journey, XF) and had done well in America and was getting promoted as a single (it's the only Glee track I've seen on music channels).

The reason Glee doesn't really get airplay is because they release four songs weekly and they've always been covers. These two are more 'one-offs', and will be promoted more for being original, and because there's only two, maybe they will get more airplay than normal. If people want the song, this is the only version they can download, unlike with the others where they can get the original.

edit: Listening to the Ryan Seacrest premier, sounds like they might get a bit of US airplay

^ Those are good points. If these songs charted well, and (commercial) radio didn't support them, I'd be a bit worried that they're actually discriminating against Glee Cast. Especially the top 40 stations, such as Capital, because they claim to play "the biggest hits". Capital do very well on that front imo, but I have difficulty imagining it playing the Glee songs, even if they become "big hits". I hope I can be proven wrong though.

But also, Halo/Walking On Sunshine, Start Me Up/Livin' on a Prayer, Singing in the Rain/Umbrella, etc. only exist by Glee Cast too, in a way.

Also, more out of interest than anything, have Glee Cast ever done a song where the original wasn't released in the UK (apart from the mash-ups). Like they did Mercy by Duffy. It was released in the US, but I don't think it got very popular over there, so that might've been like a "new" song to a lot of the viewers there. Plus, they've done Marry You by Bruno Mars. Are there any others. Was Run Joey Run ever released in the UK?

Original songs! :D hopefully that will stop all the haters going on about 'Glee just ruin songs, not fair on established artists who work hard blah blah blah'

I really like Loser Like Me, and Get It right is pretty good too- I think LLM could go top 20 as I can see it being more appealing, GIR I think top 30

Let's see, they have 78 top 100 hits which are straight covers, 8 top 100 hits which are mash-ups of 2 covers... is 2 original songs gonna make up for that? I don't think so :P

'Loser Like Me' is actually amazing after a few listens! Haven't listened to 'Get It Right' yet as that link isn't working.

I know its only two, but at least its *something*, and they've proved they can do something original, which gives a possibility for future original songs
