Thought the Gaga video would have made a bigger impact by now.

Jeez, its only been out online for less than a day. Wait until it hits the music TV channels, it'll shoot up then.

The album version of The Last Dance must be pushing her single up the official chart, let's hope the track continues to climb.

So I've made a little research in the old Itunes threads (that took SOME time to say the least)

The 'Telephone' video premiered on the 12th of March 2010 (very early, UK time), and the song was at #15 at the time on Itunes.

By the 13th of March, it climbed to #7.

By the 14th of March, it climbed to #4.

By the 15th of March, it climbed to #3.

By the 16th of March, it climbed to #2, which was its peak on Itunes because she had a second version of the song in the top 20 too (unless she did climb to #1 later when the second version dropped, I didn't go that far).

So basically its chart run day by day on Itunes was : 15 (premiere day) > 7 > 4 > 3 > 2. When both versions were combined, the climb is surely even more impressive.

Gosh with the second version of Happiness climbing so quickly Alexis could re-enter the top 40 with it and have 2 singles in the top 40 at the same time :cheer: How Do You Like Me Now LOL it so does not deserve to be the most cherrypicked album track but I guess it is only because of it being track no.3

all the versions of someone like you and price tag in the top100 combined..

This is a ridiculous way of looking at it. Born This Way has already sold... what... 180K+?.... so obviously the video is going to have a less immediate and big impact than for Telephone, which I doubt had even passed 60K when the video hit.

we're Tuesday and Adele have a big lead again... so it's her double this week :)

We'll see how high the album version of 'Price Tag' manages/peaks before we come to that judgement. :) Currently at #2, 21, 91, 166, 236 & 589 .

5 entries of one song in the Top 300! :o

Adele is at #1, 4 & 199.

It's AWN! For a third week! Very exciting! :o

Also; very surprised to see 'Singing In The Rain'/'Umbrella' hold up at #22! :o

How is it ridiculous?

It might not be a perfect comparison but then no comparison ever will be.

What it does, however, is give us a good barometer of the effect an awesome video can have on a song.

Anyway, you conveniently forget to mention that the deluxe edition of The Fame had sold - what? 500k by that point? so you're rationale that the BTW video will have a less immediate impact than Telephone is quite frankly rubbish.

I'll be using Hayzaay's barometer of Telephone's video impact to assess the impact the BTW video has on the song; in the meantime, you can continue to live on cloud GaGa.

Is Adele's live BRITs version of SLY available on non-iTunes outlets? (feels like that's the 5th time I've asked!).

I don't think it is. I think it's iTunes only. (Just goes to show the power of iTunes tbh)

So with physicals as well (albeit small) Jessie combined on iTunes doesn't have to actually get above Adele combined on iTunes for it to take the #1 spot. If Adele doesn't hold up this week, then its not cut and dried yet for the singles chart (although at the moment, Adele definitely doesn't seem to be shifting from the huge lead she has).

I hope Foo Fighters can slip into the top 10, this and 'White Limo' are a MAJOR return to form after looking like they were big time losing it.

Also, I know it's not high but Alesha's still doing a lot better than I expected...

Erm, thanks for the 'ridiculous' comment :/

I am not even comparing both or using it to say "oh look it's not doing as well as 'Telephone'", I was simply interested in knowing what effect the video had on 'Telephone', so I did a little research about it. I don't see what is 'ridiculous' about that. It's two Gaga songs, that had two over-anticipated videos, so somehow I think it's not THAT ridiculous to look at things this way and the comparaison - if not very accurate of course - can still be interesting.

And anyway, I don't care if it has 'already' sold 180k, it will need to climb higher than #7 again if she wants to achieve impressive total sales with this single.
