April 21, 201114 yr It does all depend on the draw and her vocals, but lots of my friends are saying it's the winner. I can see why, when I first saw it I got that "there's the winner" feeling. It just seems a bit odd predicting them to win so soon after their last victory. I guess it's because we're not used to the same country winning in quick succession. There's definitely something about that isn't there. I think that's a major reason that I'm not tipping them to win. But if Azerbaijan were sending the song it would be at the top of the odds and almost certainly their first winner! There are SO many songs that I can't call this year, which is why I'm sitting on the fence and calling them all to come mid-table
April 21, 201114 yr Author And it's going to be just as difficult on May 12th as well... SF2 01 [02] · 124 · Denmark 02 [01] · 107 · Bosnia 03 [08] · 103 · Estonia 04 [07] · 101 · Slovenia 05 [03] · 100 · Sweden 06 [04] · 095 · Austria 07 [06] · 076 · Israel 08 [11] · 075 · Netherlands 09 [05] · 071 · Ukraine 10 [10] · 070 · Belarus ---------------------- 11 [12] · 068 · Romania 12 [14] · 066 · Ireland 13 [16] · 053 · Moldova 14 [09] · 049 · Latvia 15 [15] · 029 · Bulgaria 16 [13] · 023 · Slovakia 17 [18] · 023 · Macedonia 18 [17] · 022 · Cyprus 19 [19] · 021 · Belgium I still see it being an incredibly close call between Belarus and Romania, but this time I think Ukraine and Ireland will be sucked into the maelstrom and that the Netherlands might sneak through - if they don't, then I imagine Latvia would take their place as Moldova's votes are pretty much limited to nearby nations. I think Denmark's position is perfect and the song is universal enough to give them the win in this semi, whereas the Bosnian performance might limit a few of the votes - I imagine it'll be fairly close between that top six anyway.
April 21, 201114 yr I'll have a go; Semi 1 1. Norway 2. Azerbaijan 3. Hungary 4. Russia 5. Turkey 6. Greece 7. Finland 8. Switzerland 9. Serbia 10. Albania -------------------- 11. Croatia 12. Georgia 13. Iceland 14. Armenia (Hopefully, they NEED to fail with this - if they get through then the juries will have some explaining to do) 15. Poland 16. Portugal 17. Lithuania (Very old fashioned, will really struggle to pick up televotes and I don't see juries going wild either) 18. San Marino 19. Malta (I really can't see who will vote for this limp lettuce) Croatia, Georgia or Iceland could all qualify, but I don't see in place of who...I just have a feeling that Albania will definitely make the final, she has the aura of a star and I can't see it falling at the first hurdle. Semi 2 1. Estonia 2. Sweden (He WILL be popular, in the semi if nothing else!) 3. Bosnia-Herzegovina 4. Denmark 5. Slovenia 6. Israel (I'd have it lower but it's Dana!) 7. Romania 8. Austria (please let her qualify!) 9. Ukraine 10. Ireland ---------------- 11. Netherlands 12. Belarus 13. Moldova 14. Belgium (won't be last - awful song but it's unique) 15. Bulgaria 16. Latvia (I don't really think that people will 'get' this) 17. Macedonia 18. Cyprus 19. Slovakia (I just have a feeling that it's going to bomb) I'm hoping that Netherlands will sneak in there past Ireland, well actually I'd rather see Ukraine fail for once - their song's on par with Jedward's but at least I won't fall asleep during the performance of the latter. Final (with above qualifiers) 1. France 2. United Kingdom 3. Estonia 4. Norway 5. Azerbaijan 6. Sweden 7. Turkey 8. Greece 9. Bosnia-Herzegovina 10. Hungary 11. Russia 12. Denmark 13. Germany 14. Ukraine 15. Israel 16. Italy 17. Switzerland 18. Slovenia 19. Serbia 20. Finland (can't see this doing as well as Tom Dice, it feels a bit insincere) 21. Romania 22. Albania 23. Austria (:() 24. Ireland 25. Spain I don't quite see a barrage of 8's and above coming Azerbaijan's way, it'll probably score very nicely 6's and 7's but that'll be enough for top five or just outside, I don't see it in the top three at all. I'm possibly being a bit optimistic with Norway and Sweden but they both have such huge potential. I think that will be the top three though, just not sure on the order.
April 21, 201114 yr I'll genuinly be gutted if we finish second. 16th time?! Third would be preferable!
April 22, 201114 yr I'll genuinly be gutted if we finish second. 16th time?! Third would be preferable! I wouldn't care if we lost out by a landslide but if we were second with a 5 point deficit or something it would be quite awful!
April 22, 201114 yr 1. France 2. United Kingdom 3. Estonia  Agreed. Estonia I'm a little unsure about as that chorus is bloody awful; I think the 3rd place could go to one of several entries. I'd like Hungary to get it or, for the hell of it, Sweden!
April 22, 201114 yr I wouldn't care if we lost out by a landslide but if we were second with a 5 point deficit or something it would be quite awful! I genuinly think I'd be in tears for a good few days... If 1998 happened now, I'd be pretty gutted, although that did seem worse on Malta! 1988 would be just UNBEARABLE though.
April 22, 201114 yr Austria is an interesting one. I'm not sure if it'll get forgotten or it might be like Portugal last year (Filipa Azevedo) I thought that song would struggle but it did very well in the semi. (even though it bombed in the final) I keep going back and forth on my thoughts on how Ireland will do. Right now I'm thinking we might get somewhere 8th-10th in the semi. The song definitely stands out and let's face it, countries outside Ireland and the UK aren't going to have same amount of "haters" that Jedward has gathered. The live performance is truly dismal though, if they performed anything like the studio version it would be pretty good though. Edited April 22, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
April 22, 201114 yr The only one of my favourites I'm worried for is The Secret Is Love. I'm not sure it will qualify, like Sabre said it might do a Portugal '10 (hopefully without the bombing in the final )
April 22, 201114 yr Author I'm pretty sure it'll qualify. She'll sell the hell out of it with her vox.
April 22, 201114 yr Portugal 2010 had a pretty great draw which no doubt helped. Thankfully a lot of SF2 entries are completely dire, so the jury should hopefully push Austria into 10th place. Fingers crossed anyway.
April 22, 201114 yr Please get rid off the big signatures, its totally putting me off reading your posts. In most forums they are limited in size. For the sake of this thread; please do so, this could be so popular (could this be a tip) . It just ruins the flow of conversation. I hope Ireland make it for comical value, everyone knows Ireland could win it if the country wasn't broke, although the two frogs could appeal to european folks a they are quirky performers. April 23, 201114 yr The Swedish song is definitly the stand out for me at the moment and il be shocked if it doesnt make top 5 in the final, i also love the danish entry but im not sure if it would do aswell as sweden. My top 3 at present are 01 Sweden 02 Denmark 03 United Kingdom.
April 24, 201114 yr I'm shocked Uk can't vote for Jedward :o Why can't they? Ireland are a different nation to the UK you know!
April 24, 201114 yr Why can't they? Ireland are a different nation to the UK you know! UK vote in the 1st semi, Ireland are in the 2nd :D
April 24, 201114 yr It's not shocking, speaking as a Eurofan. It's unfortunate but the semi-finals are drawn randomly, and likewise which of the big 5 countries (UK, France, Spain, Germany and now Italy) will vote in each one. Spain requested to switch the semi it would vote in last year, and it was rejected.
April 24, 201114 yr Author It's not shocking, speaking as a Eurofan. Spain requested to switch the semi it would vote in last year, and it was rejected. They aren't drawn randomly. They're put into pots to avoid too many nations from respective traditional voting blocs going into the same semi and making it theoretically possible for one nation to qualify off the back of votes from culturally similar or diaspora-influenced nations...
