March 5, 201114 yr I don't think I've noticed anyone mention Spice Girls v Run DMC yet. That was quite the (brilliant) shock.
March 5, 201114 yr Spiller vs Victoria Beckham is another one that comes to mind, even though I was only 7 at the time :P Edited March 5, 201114 yr by chart wizard
March 5, 201114 yr 43!! :o That would just NEVER happen now! :o It would in the album chart though. On W/E 17 Oct 2009 Paramore were the #3 album... wedged between a top 2 of Barbra Streisand and Madonna and a 4-5 of Cliff Richard and Vera Lynn. #6 was Jay-Z (who is pretty old for his genre), #8 was Chris Rea and #10 was Andy Williams (with Muse at #7 and Dizzee Rascal at #9).

Wow. That is pretty impressive. :o I guess it's slightly re-assuring that they can at least have some success. I've heard of artists having to lie about their age to help them make it into the mainstream. :( I can understand why it helps for artists to be younger, but it should be based primarily on the music, and I do think the majority of, even kids, would buy songs by older artists now that they liked, if they actually had the songs promoted to them.
