Does anyone else like the 1979 disco track 'Born to Be Alive' by Patrick Hernandez? I reckon 'Danger High Voltage!' by Electric Six borrows at least a wee bit from it.

DISCO ANTHEM  His follow up song Disco Queen was originally going to be Madonna's first single.

The B-side, something like "Tonight I Give You a Rendez-Vous" was also quite decent if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I've got to track down some more of his stuff.

I thought Born To Be Alive was a prime example of the worst type of Euro disco that could be heard back then! I think it was number 1 in Germany for something like 12 weeks.

According to Wiki Hernandez is married to Luisa Fernandez though perhaps someone noticed the similarity in their names and have got confused! Luisa Fernandez had a top 40 hit with the dreadful and almost comedic Lay Love On You in November / December 1978:
