Why would anyone want to buy an album by that tone deaf wannabe (I saw her on X Factor, not a good singer - more hype than substance type)? I wouldn't even bother downloading even if it was free. ** shrugs **

RE: "Friday" It's a terrible song but the criticism of the 13 year old singeer is alot worse

I realise spiidey already updated this but just so we have 100% accurate figures :P

- Nicole 100%

- Adele 91% of Nicole (+8%)

- Jessie 70.67% of Nicole (+2%)

- Jessie 77.66% of Adele (-5.07%)

- The Wanted 61% of Nicole (+2%)

- The Wanted 67.03% of Adele (-4.05%)

- The Wanted 86.32% of Jessie (+0.4% :o)

Very surprised to see The Wanted actually now gaining on Jessie.

I'll do another one of these a bit after Adele's CR performance (unless it's really late on)

Someone Like You is now familiar to a great deal of people in this country now, it's not going to carry the same impact it did on The Brits. Also, Nicole has been leading the ITunes chart for the best part of 6 days, and that coupled with the rumoured 22k sales difference on Wednesday mean that Adele has got a mountain to climb. I highly doubt she'll make it.

The impact the BRITs had got it to climb from #47 to #1 with over 110k sales, of course it won't be that big... it'll almost certainly get it back to #1 with a big lead and maybe the live version could get back into the top 10?

You'd think it wouldn't have a big effect but performances on high profile shows *always* have a big effect no matter how big the song has been. Take Usher's OMG getting back into the top 40 after an X Factor performance despite how massive it already was by that point.

And with the song being such a good live song (the live versions from Jools and the BRITs are both far far better than the studio version) a live performance will boost it a *lot*. I still think it's pretty open.

its not a joke shes on a label where they make children sort of songs

Doesn't change anything! Still a joke

No, I disagree. I think the main downloads from I-Tunes that do well because of TV are related to music shows, and most people watching Comic Relief will be focused on the sketches and charities, not on the individual performances. Apart from from the Peter Kay video, but that goes without saying. If Nicole misses out on a deserved No 1 after leading I tunes since Sunday because of another manipulative singsong by Adele, I may just give up on the charts altogether. Fortunately, I don't think it will :)

'Manipulative'? It's bloody promotion, which people complain about all the time when artists don't do it... is it also 'manipulative' that Nicole has performed on just about every high profile TV show available in the week running up to her release?

Also, whether or not DHYB will be a 'deserved #1' will depend on how long it sticks around in the chart. If it goes anything like Poison that doesn't seem likely.

I'll be really annoyed if Adele gets #1 too (and I think she might :().

But at the same time, I wouldn't say it's "manipulative" or whatever. She's just doing all she can to sell as many songs as possible. That's her job, and most of the artists in the chart do it (apart from a few that don't really seem to care anymore ). I don't really want it at #1 again, but we shouldn't criticize Adele for promoting it.

I mean, Nicole was EVERYWHERE a couple of weeks ago. She was promoting really, really hard. It's not like it's only Adele doing it.

I hope Adele performs Set Fire to the Rain though, but she'll probably just do what everybody wants and perform Someone Like You, I reckon.

'Manipulative'?

Yes, it's sad she's estranged from her boyfriend, but for goodness sake girl.. Get a grip!! Life goes on, and after a while, the tears after every performance of that song ring a bit hollow. Just my opinion, like.. :P

Nicole:

She has outsold Adele for 6/7 days, so she had likely a decent lead(unless she manages to outsell her in a few hours). Her lead has never been that big though, Adele could out sell her if she gets a massive boost.

Adele:

The song has a very instant reaction with a lot of people, but I can't see the boost being absolutely massive, as over 1 million people already own it(Maybe people will download the live version after hearing her sing it?).

I get what you mean, but it's music!!

I've heard people say some VERY cynical things in the past (like "Did Rihanna fake being a victim of domestic violence so Rated R would sell more?") and a more recent (and, may I add, utterly RIDICULOUS for many reasons) example I've heard is "Do you think the Black Eyed Peas filmed their video in Japan so it'd get more views?"

And so on. People can be very cynical about things. But I genuinely think Adele does get emotional when singing her songs. I don't think she faked her break up with her boyfriend or anything. Like I saw Rihanna getting a tiny bit emotional in an interview she did where she talked about Love the Way You Lie, and everybody said she was faking it there too.

They do have emotions, and I think some songs can remind them of sad experiences in their lives. I think we can be a bit cynical sometimes. They're human just like us.

Basically, I don't think Adele performs intending to cry, and I don't think she wants to cry, and I don't think she does so to sell more albums and get more critical acclaim. I think she simply gets emotional.

Luckily, I am a lot more confident about Nicole's chances, and I genuinely think that most people who like this song will have it already so the boost, whatever it may be, will not be enough to take it back to No 1. We shall see..

Heaven forbid she cries after a personal song she wrote about a person who was so pivotal in her life. She's incredibly talented, the song is fantastic and therefore deserves to be #1. It's not "manipulative" in the slightest.
