And something tells me Comic Relief, Peter Kay, Susan Boyle & Geraldine McQueen are going to miss number one. Well this means Adele will be number one a fifth non consecutive week, who was the last person to do that? I'm sure it was a long time ago

The last five-weeker was Katy Perry's IKAG in 2008.

If you mean the last non-consecutive 5-weeker (:P) that'd be Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie in 2006 which had one week at #1, then three weeks not at #1, then four weeks at #1.

Which song spliced Shakira's chart run?

no, Peter Kay has more of a chance than both of those I think :P

people are underestimating him, did anyone expect the CIN medley to go to number 1 at the rate it was going?

Ah, but IIRC that did at least get to T10 on iTunes, briefly - this new one isn't anywhere near that.

Which song spliced Shakira's chart run?

Lily Allen's Smile for 2 weeks, then McFly's Don't Stop Me Now for 1 week.

Smile was still at #2 in that third week, so HDL went 1-2-2-3-1-1-1-1. Not to mention another 2 weeks top 3 before that and 2 more weeks top 3 afterwards, then another 4 weeks in the top 10. Massive chart run.

What is the lowest a song has fallen to in the charts before re-climbing to #1?

Of the recent ones, Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling both fell to #2, Bad Romance fell to #3, and Just the Way You Are fell to #4. Have any fallen lower (apart from Bohemian Rhapsody, of course ).

Hips Don't Lie, I Gotta Feeling and Love the Way You Lie have had the longest top 10 runs in the past 10 years, haven't they? And they all had two runs at their peaks.

And well deserved chart run too, Shakira is soooo crap these days, no wonder she Flopped with 'Loca' even with Dizzee Rascal on it. That was Shakira's only good song, I hate "Beautiful Liar" with Beyonce. Shame HDL was released in bad times of sales, it hasn't even sold 700k if I'm right! :o And it missed the top 100 downloads of all time

Regarding your first 2 paragraphs I have no idea. I think JTWYA might hold the record (ignoring Bohemian Rhapsody, My Sweet Lord, Three Lions and the 3 '05 Elvis re-issues which all got to #1 then got #1 again on a separate chart run)

And I'm sure there's at least one other song with more than 11 weeks top 10 since 2000...

EDIT: Use Somebody has 13 weeks so that's ahead of LTWYL. I'm sure there are a couple of others too.

EDIT2: Ignore this, LTWYL has 14, I thought it had 11 for some reason... still I think there's something else ahead of it.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Relax" was so close to making it. There was 17 weeks inbetween when it dropped off number one and when it returned to number 2. The best chart run of all time?

77-77-67-55-54-55-46-46-35-6-2-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-6-16-21-23-21-29-29-31-26-23-21-17-16-11-5-3-2-2-3-3-3-6-7-12-20-22-29-41-47-50-66-71-x-93-87-89-79-x-68-58-64-74-x-91-96-86-83-89-x

Edit: And when it returned to number 2, Frankie stopped himself returning to 1 (with other single "Two Tribes")

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a song that's as popular now as Hips Don't Lie was back in the day would easily be a million-seller (I hope this makes sense ).

About Loca, to be fair, it barely got any promotion. Like literally, barley any. I heard it once in JJB Sports and once on Floorfillers. That was IT. :(

Beautiful Liar is AMAZING. I think it's a fabulous song, and an amazing collaboration in the sense that it sounded like a song of both artists. It was really well composed imo.

Gypsy was amazing too. Now that did get a bit of radio airplay and TV airplay. Don't know why it flopped, it was really good. :(

She Wolf was boring imo. :(

Waka Waka did really well. Not in comparison to the rest of Europe, but it had amazing longevity! I think everybody must've been hearing the song on their holidays!

Did it Again was better than She Wolf. Can't believe how badly it did even though it was performed on X Factor.

x-91-96-86-83-89-x

The best chart run of all time for a #1 would probably be Bill Haley & His Comets - Rock Around The Clock.

17-18-x(38)-8-7-4-2-3-1-1-1-2-2-2-1-1-6-8-14-

The reason for all the big dropouts is because it's very old and the charts were shorter in the 50s & 60s.

Then of course there's Sex On Fire :P

1-1-1-2-2-4-4-5-11-13-13-17-14-15-21-12-11-12-14-19-18-23-19-14-16-22-23-29-31-27-30-29-37-40-39-47-53-52-60-54-50-68-95-86-74-70-61-51-45-49-33-

And the full run for Chasing Cars (144 weeks top 100!)

it got to 11, but then plummeted down - it was barely top 50 by Tuesday IIRC

anyway, if it somehow underperforms (small chance) I'd like Nicole to get it again, it will probably be Adele though :(

Loca was never released I don't think.

Sorry to quote this again :P But David Whitfield's Answer Me went down as far as #5 before re-climbing to #1 (1-2-2-2-5-1)

The week it got back to #1 it was a joint #1 with Frankie Laine's version of the same song. This was back in 1953.

Thanks! :D Haha, that's really weird.

Imagine having a joint #1 now. I can just imagine so many really dramatic ways to announce that on the chart show!

Well, I think it was avaibable on a compilation album or something. I doubt it even charted top 200 officially. :(

Also, I know this is iTunes, and not the official charts, but didn't Meet Me Halfway drop down as far as #10 between two of its runs at #1 on iTunes?

I was thinking that, it was temporarily on iTunes on some random compilation (I know because I swiftly purchased it) but once that was off it was never released properly :(
