Rules:

1 Design one cover (Single or Album) per week, you have the option to change your cover as many times as you want as long it meets the closing deadline. And please edit your original cover.

 

2 The Cover Design should always be your own creation, and no one else's. All forms of cheating will result in removal from the Leaderboard.

 

3 New members are welcome to join anytime and any member of Buzzjack can vote not just the cover designers, in the voting thread once set up at the end of the week. You cannot vote for your own covers. And don't forget its a cover competition, you are voting for a cover not your favourite artist or for your favourite member.

 

4 A winner will be announced every four months and the Leaderboard will then be set back to zero.

 

5 The Cover Voting Thread will be posted after all covers are submitted, I will give an extension if needed at my own discretion. The voting thread will close on every Monday at 7pm/8pm (UK time), the winning cover will be revealed after the votes have been counted.

 

6 Any votes submitted after 9pm will not be counted, same goes for PM votes.

 

7 I will send one and only one reminder each Sunday evening to Cover Designers that have not submitted votes during the voting period.

 

8 If you are not playing any more, please let me know if you wish your name to be removed from the Leaderboard.

 

9 Please let me know your change of Display Name, sometimes its hard to keep track of who's who.

Why have you extended it, I got penalised a few weeks back - so everyone should :lol:

It was only meant to be for about an hour, but then I got caught up with Buzzjack Knockout in the lounge and went to bed :lol: I do feel mean having to give deductions, but rules are rules and I've got to try and keep it fair.

same here - I've lost a total of 60 points this past month (including 20 this week) because of the ridiculous penalising of points..... for some people.

 

The voting should always be extended til close of play Monday - some people just don't do the internet at weekends..... I doubt I'll enter again - not worth it when 'rules' are there for some.

And I can't seem to find the time to do the covers no more, I usually do a bundle all in one go, like a good month in advance.

If I remember correctly, Jack Sykes was the ONLY person who bothered to apply to take this thing over. It's a bit unfair to begin criticising him for running it in a similar style to how it always has been (or at least for as long as I remember).

 

That said, a 20pt deduction does seem harsh. A 10 point deduction would level the playing field so the cover finishes in it's true position.

What it needs just the days revamping most covers are usually entered from Monday onwards now.

 

Probably new thread Monday night till Sat evening, with the voting thread Sat evening to Monday evening. That would work for members that don't come online during weekends.

The 20pt deduction was introduced since Cool Clarity days, nobody moaned about it until now, that's a good few years now.

 

Its best to start the voting thread on Saturdays, with the new game on Mondays as from this week. It probably be a lot easier for you as well.

 

So, what are the dates now?

 

Monday 8pm - Saturday 8pm to submit a cover, and Saturday 8pm - Monday 8pm to vote? I think Jack has done a great job of running everything thus far, although I can see the benefits of having a weekday to vote instead of just the weekend.

I agree that Jack's done a great job. He's been running it how it always has been run (as far as I remember)...there's always been a deduction of points. If you don't make the voting deadline then that's your problem!

 

I'm fine with a change of dates - if that means other posters will be happy then that's fine by me! I just don't think it's fair to be blaming Jack when he's doing nothing wrong?!

I think the change of days will work much better, it will cover for members that don't visit during the weekend. The 20 point deduction has always been there since its first inception, I don't know why its became a talking point all of a sudden.

 

So the new times will be:

New Game: Mon to Sat 8pm, Voting thread: Sat 8pm to Mon 7pm/8pm

Jack can re-arrange the times to fit around him.

 

Jack has done a great job, and I'm always there to help if he needs a back up.

fair point, and i'm withdrawing from this as of now....it's just about limped along this last 'round', and thats no reflection on anybody involved

it's not worth all the effort either sometimes, especially when it's more than apparent people still vote for their favourite artists each week...their prerogative...but stops this being a competiton in my opinion.
