Posted March 22, 201114 yr Reading the comebacks thread made me think - what artists would you like to see making a massive, unexpected comeback? Here's some of mine: Ashanti - was de rigeur on anything rap/urban that did well in 2002. Had some decent singles out. Most recent big success was 2006. Maroon 5 - flopped last year but I think they still have it in them to produce another quality hit single (tbh Misery wasn't bad but it was no This Love). R Kelly - I dislike a lot of his records but it would be interesting to see him back near the top of the charts. 'Ignition' was massive nearly five years after IICTBTHOT and seven years after his last (crap) #1. So he's due a #1 in 2011... Girls Aloud - they've just sort of fizzled out. It's only been 2 1/2 years but that's a long time in pop. I'd like to wait a year or two and see what they come back with. Franz Ferdinand - had some success in 2009 but nothing on the scale of their 2004 debut. A storming single from FF would be brilliant. Kaiser Chiefs - another band that seem to have just petered out in terms of popularity. Granted, they weren't doing much different on their third album than their first. But that never stopped lots of bands before. Ruby may have been #1 but I'd prefer a string of singles like the ones off 'Employment' Blu Cantrell (well, why not?) David Sneddon and Steve Brookstein - even if just for the lols. Any Britpop-era band to reform and have one big hit. Sleeper, maybe? Elastica? Or a #1 for the Bluetones? And, finally, some random early 2000s acts - say Papa Roach, Sarah Whatmore, Sarah Connor, Sum 41, tATu, Nina Sky!
March 22, 201114 yr LIBERTY X. I used to be obsessed with them! :( In a fantasy world they'd release a RedOne produced club banger, it'd be a #01 and they'd be one of the UK's finest pop groups again. Michelle Heaton has embarrased herself far too much for that to ever happen though.
March 22, 201114 yr That #1 worldwide smash for DES'REE is still LONG overdue "Life" hit #1 in a number of countries, I believe.
March 22, 201114 yr Doing a Solo Spice rate in the Lounge and I'm reminiscing Melanie C's songs  COME BACK PLEASE! :(
March 22, 201114 yr Kanye West. The 808s & Heartbreaks era was relatively big with its two top 10 hits (although nowhere near as big as his first three albums) but MBDTF has been a disaster for him. I really hope he returns to big success with his next album. Edited March 22, 201114 yr by Bray
March 22, 201114 yr Doing a Solo Spice rate in the Lounge and I'm reminiscing Melanie C's songs  COME BACK PLEASE! :( She's working on a dance album in the mould of I Turn To You apparently. I doubt Radio 1 will get on board which will sink her, but the quality could be right back up there :o It's no surprise that I'm going to say that I'd LOVE to see both The Corrs and Delta Goodrem make huge chart comebacks after long sabbaticals but it's not really the right chart climate for either to do well these days :(
March 22, 201114 yr Would love the Sugababes to come back with something HUGE this year Also, would love to see Eternal back and Destiny's child Edited March 22, 201114 yr by shindymindy
March 22, 201114 yr Daniel Powter- Due another hit after 'Bad Day' Five Gwen Stefani Nickelback Stereophonics- A decent hit LeAnn Rimes
March 22, 201114 yr Misteeq-Sabrina, Alesha and the other one The original Sugababes Jojo-she should be huge not sure what is going on with her. Amy Lee- not sure whether she is still in a group or solo. Jamelia-think she still has alot left to give Melody Thornton- ex PCD not sure what she is doing.
March 22, 201114 yr I want these artists to achieve hardcore commercial success next time: Mariah Carey Celine Dion Maroon 5 Robbie Williams The Killers Josh Groban Linkin Park Kanye West
March 22, 201114 yr Kanye West. The 808s & Heartbreaks era was relatively big with its two top 10 hits (although nowhere near as big as his first three albums) but MBDTF has been a disaster for him. I really hope he returns to big success with his next album. Obviously commercial success has so far eluded him this era but My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is arguably his best material to date. No Doubt/Gwen Stefani. PLEASE COME BACK I NEED YOU.
March 22, 201114 yr I would love Coldplay (probably will anyway), Muse and Linkin Park to have a commercially successful comeback next time around mainly- Evanescence, White Stripes and U2 as well- also Justin Timberlake- he hasn't done anything in ages and I liked his earlier stuff! :(
