Posted March 27, 201114 yr Robbie posted this on Haven, but I'm sure it'll be of interest here! http://www.digitalsalesdata.com/index.html Apparently it is iTunes only. Edited March 27, 201114 yr by vidcapper

March 27, 201114 yr So in Luxembourg you need 2 sales to get into the top 100 best-selling songs of the day on iTunes! :o Seriously though, if you lived there, couldn't you make a song, and get all your friends to buy it, then you'd land yourself with a top 10 hit!?
March 28, 201114 yr It can't be accurate total sales for something like Sats - Higher is 9k. Yes it can, as that will be its sales tally since the site was published online - i.e. since 01 January 2011. See the following link:- http://www.digitalsalesdata.com/displayTra...at.+Flo+Rida%29 The figures look accurate, certainly extrapolating e.g. Lopez x 7 = 95k (broad brush I know) and then further extrapolating for iTunes' share of the market - say 60%) would give 158k for the week, which I don't think will be too far away from reality. Maybe it is right after all, but that begs the question; why are the sales being published on an obscure site, rather than something officially endorsed by iTunes?
March 28, 201114 yr i wonder if these sales are complete. Apparently "Alejandro" has only sold 200 odd copies this whole year in Britain. And something like "About you Now" by Sugababes hasnt sold a single copy. Seems fishy. I wonder if they only get sales for the top100 and their "complete" totals are actually just the sum of all a songs top100 itunes weeks. Looks eerily accurate for some of the newer stuff though vidcapper do you have any accurate estimates to compare/back this theory up?
March 28, 201114 yr ok. according to this site fight for this love has only sold 2k in the UK this year and hasn't sold a copy since 7/2/11 - complete sales my ass! something fishy
March 28, 201114 yr ROFL On The Floor has just broke a worldwide record! It's #1 in Greece selling 16 copies.
March 28, 201114 yr I can't believe this is complete either - apparently "Dancing Queen" by ABBA hasn't sold a single copy on UK itunes in 2011, yet I'm sure I saw it on in the top 1000 at least once. Nor has "You're The Voice" by John Farnham and that is number 875 in the current chart. However, if this information on the website is correct, what a fabulous resource it would be. -- Richard
March 28, 201114 yr This has got to be complete bull$h!t... except it seems too much work for it to not be real. Confused.com Edited March 28, 201114 yr by AcerBen
March 28, 201114 yr This record has supposedly sold 12 copies, all in Sweden http://www.digitalsalesdata.com/displayTra...title=Slow+Down Yet I bought it from iTunes UK
March 28, 201114 yr Another weird one I've just picked out - "Mr Jones" by Counting Crows. Nothing at all until in the UK until Jan 23rd, then an average of about 100 for a fortnight, then nothing since. Not 1 download. Doesn't make sense

March 28, 201114 yr That was because it was reduced to 59p on iTunes for about a fortnight. Thanks, I didn't know that. That will of course explain an increase in sales, but not really an absolute zero demand outside that period I would have thought. -- Richard
March 28, 201114 yr Perhaps it's simply estimating the sales from the iTunes chart, but claims it's the actual sales data to get more people to look at the site?
