Oh, the XF performance must have been what caused it to re-climb to #3 a few weeks later then. Hm.

Still, I recall it only barely getting to #1 and with fairly low sales as it was a low competition week.

Does it particularly matter? You stated that you don't think Beyoncé has the "star power" to début at #1 with her new single as she only got to #2 with 'If I Were a Boy' when it released. Not only is that a ballad, so is straight away less likely to do as well as an uptempo, but it also doesn't have as much hype as her new single does. There's no way she's not getting to #1 with this.

Okay, sorry, I didn't even know her new single was an uptempo until a few minutes ago. I only posted my last post to back up my point IIWAB was lucky to get #1... I'll just stop talking about Beyoncé if you're going to reply to every one of my posts about her like this!

Anyway, when I said I didn't think she had the 'star power' I meant in terms of climbing up the iTunes chart immediately as quickly as GaGa has done with BTW and Judas.

Seriously looking forward to the new Beyonce single and I'm not a fan whatsoever. Hearing the words Major Lazer, Diplo and Sleigh Bells got me straight away...
Judas will probably be top five by midnight and top three by tomorrow morning at the current rate...

CANT WAIT FOR BEYONCE TO RETURN. :D So curious to hear new material, she's got so a lot to live up too after the incredible, faultless (imo) era I Am Sasha.. :)

Judas isnt slowing down at all

EDIT:

Yeah, the top 3 that week was:

1 Beyoncé 47,949

2 XFF 45,760

3 The Killers 42,832

Beyoncé just overtook XFF and T.I. who was #2 the previous week, her sales dropped by 10k. And I think The Killers were the download #1 that week as well? :(

I wish T.I. got to #1.

Also, it's just clicked that Diddy's next single (Ass on the Floor) also samples Pon de Floor! :o I doubt it will get popular, but if it does, I could imagine some people thinking one copied the other, rather than understanding they both sampled the same song.

I'm only replying like this because I get annoyed when people talk down about something that they clearly know nothing about. You can't give your opinion on something you know nothing about, it's just illogical.

TBH nothing against Beyonce. She can bring out some great tracks but the clip I've heard of this new one sounds dreadful. I expect it to smash though. Whether it's #1 or not I be unsure.

The reason I posted it was *because* I knew nothing about it :P I just found it highly likely you were overstating the hype for it as the only thing I'd heard about her comeback was from you and BuzzJack of all places should be extremely hyped about a new Beyoncé single. I'll believe you now since everyone else agrees about it but surely you can see why I was questioning it given I hadn't heard anything about it... :(

Emily Osment :o Itv 2 is really helping that song!

Lady Gaga will pick up, she is taking over social networks, was it released early or something? seems like it was a surprise to most people it's out.

I agree with Bray to be honest. I don't think Beyonce is a guaranteed debut at #1 like Lady Gaga is. I do think it's likely that she'll go to #1. It's a good song, will get promoted, and Beyonce is a great artist, however, I don't think Beyonce can just put it on iTunes and be #1 within hours, without anybody having even heard the song yet. Not just Beyonce, even other massive "stars" like Rihanna and Eminem. Fly, Roman's Revenge and That's All She Wrote, for example, which were released recently-ish, failed to chart top 100. The Black Eyed Peas put one of their album tracks up for download in the US before releasing their album, and again, barely anybody bought that.

If Lady Gaga decides to release a random album track before releasing her album, I'm sure that'll go straight to #1. I'm also pretty sure if Lady Gaga had appeard on Nicki Minaj's album it'd've done a Love the Way You Lie. Lady Gaga is in an entirely different league to anybody else tbh. She's the same as Taylor Swift, etc. She has enough devoted fans to guarantee iTunes #1 no matter what.

Yes Jam, because of a few clip leaks, Judas was premiered on Capital/Radio following the iTunes release minutes before in fear of the entire track leaking w/o the big premiere! :)

I presume when you mean taylor swift, you mean in the US?

Oh right thanks Liam! I bet it's the fans leaking her stuff all the time to get these rush releases

I understand now Bray, sorry.

Yeah, lol. I couldn't really think of anybody in the UK. I guess maybe someone like JLS or Cheryl Cole might be able to debut at #1 with no promo, but they've never tried it before, so we don't know for sure.

But then again, didn't JLS do a collab with Lemar, which did barely anything on iTunes? And then there was the Cheryl mix of Check It Out, which also did barely anything. So I don't think even they have that large fanbases.

I actually haven't heard a lot about Beyonce's comeback either- of course I'm expecting it to be big though amd most likely number 1, but I agree that maybe not quite on the same scale as how quick BTW got to number 1- I'll probably need to hear the track to make a judgement
