Although I fear all will suffer, the likes of Olly Murs, Alexis Jordan, Jessie J, Paloma Faith and B.o.B all deserve to do well. Jason Derulo is one I'm not so sure about, the new single 'Don't Wanna Come Home' has already gone top 10 around the world, but not #1 to my knowledge; putting the album at risk of not living up to the self-titled debut. Saying that, the debut only reached #8 in the UK, so there's a lot of potential to improve on his UK career with the new album.

Also, Pitbull is a good example of an artist on improving with time in terms of success. He's had five albums (with a sixth one on its way). He rose to success with 'I Know You Want Me' - so we'll discount the first 3 albums. The album failed to reach the top 200, despite spawing three consecutive top 40 hitss (two of which were top 20). After a latin-album flopped big time all around the world, it looks as if this second album will finally get him a nice top 40 album. It's already had 2 top 40 singles (including the #1 Give Me Everything) and I'm confident that International Love ft. Chris Brown will also peak within the top 40.

Olly Murs will probably go the same way as Shayne Ward eventually.

Alexis Jordan.. (loon mode off). She hasn't been hugely big, there is room to improve, but it depends on whether radio picks up on her comeback. If it does, I can see it being massive. If it doesn't, it'll probably flop.

There's no way Jessie J and B.O.B are going to top their debut eras, but it depends whether it's an average era or a complete flop.

His comeback features Wiz Khalifa and is released in August. It's his second US single and first single of the 'deluxe' edition of Disc-overy. I think it'll go number one in the UK and top ten in the US

It may well do so, but I bet the album *still* won't sell well...

The Wanted's 2nd album will NOT flop. Mark my words!

Tinie Tempah will do good if he comes back with a big single!

Pixie will only do good if she has a real dancey #1 single. Otherwise, this will be her Wordshaker.

No doubt, Adele's next album will be massive! ...And Katy Perry's will be big, but not as big as TD :/

Other artists who will flop with their second album: Alexis Jordan, Olly Murs, Eliza Doolittle, Diana Vickers, B.O.B., Aggro Santos, Nadine Coyle (if there is one!) and Paloma Faith.

Aggro Santos may flop with his second album, but I'm sure it will do better than his first! (One week in the Top 200!)

Disc-Overy has gone double platinum - 600k doesn't seem a lot given how well his singles have sold, but you can't say it's not sold well. It's been a relative exception to the rule.

Teenage Dream has sold a similar amount to Disc-Overy and the singles on that have sold better, 2 platinum a gold and a silver single from the album, this must be another exception to the rule

I think Adele may slightly struggle when moving on to her third album - how on earth do you top something like 21?! :o

I don't think she'll struggle as such unless the first single is received really poorly, but it obviously won't be anywhere near as big as 21. Can't wait to see its first week sales though. They'll be absolutely stellar. Possibly 2nd or 3rd highest one-week sales ever.

We can probably add Cheryl Cole to this too it would seem!

I'm predicting a similar fate for Alexandra Burke. Can't imagine her shifting many numbers this time around!

I'm predicting Nicki Minaj (in the UK at least) to be a LOT bigger next time around, then again the album hasn't done too poorly this time around anyway! But she's deffinitely building a fan base with each single.

I'd say Tinie's album has sold extremely well. I did think it had a shot at #1 when it was released, but I never dreamed it'd sell this much and have the longevity it did! :o

And I think B.o.B will do well in his 2nd era, at least in the US.

When Alexandra released her Re-release of her album, it only spent one week in the top 20, right? Mind you, it was only 4 extra tracks! So I can't see the 2nd album going platinum. And I really hope Nicki can do soooo much better with her 2nd album! She deserves so much success!

The re-release only sent it back to #22. A better lead single would have been a good idea.

Quality's not really the issue there given it was a two-week number one. It might have been more of an issue that it was launched with something that was an album track on the original already...

You can't tell though until you've heard the material. Lead singles can make or break campaigns these days. The tendency to release a 'buzz' single before the album can also either work really well, or really badly. I think both Lady GaGa and Britney's teams messed up the marketing, but then on the other hand look at how huge Katy Perry has become. People on here pre-If We Ever Meet Again really thought she would flop badly with her second era.

Take That ARE the comeback kings. 4 consecutive 2m albums in the UK. They are getting bigger with every album.
It's really funny reading the comments about Born This Way before the album actually came out. To be honest the album has done pretty well worldwide considering that Gaga and Interscope chose two of the albums weakest songs (which are still great) as the album's first two singles. Even thought it's sales were pretty front-loaded, I think this album will have a lot of longevity given Gaga chooses strong 4th, 5th, 6th etc. singles....

You cannot argue that Gaga's second era wasn't as successful as the first.

Adele is going to have a hard time topping 21 and Katy Perry is going to have a hard time topping Teenage Dream (not the album but the singles..)

You cannot argue that Gaga's second era wasn't as successful as the first.

 Of course you can, her first era has done much better than her second. Her first two singles from era 1 peaked at number one and number one. You can't say the same about era 2.

Saying her 2nd era was as sucessful as her first is... a fact proven wrong. I doubt Born This Way (album) will reach a million, let alone outsell The Fame (Monster)

Edit - I might have taken your quote the wrong way, but my post *is* up there for the deluded GaGa loons

My post meant that obviously Gaga's second era wasn't as successful as her first and that one cannot argue that it isn't. You did indeed took it the wrong way :P

The difference between the examples you have used is quite simple to be honest, whilst artists like Katy Perry & Adele have progressed their sound, people like Duffy haven't.
