Pleasing results so far, with only two songs I voted for appearing so far. I didn't expect 'Tom's Diner' to do as well as it did, a bit surprised with how 'Alright' did but again I'm not surprised.

I was surprised that Tom's Diner qualified at all, it was nice to have that to vote for in the end - it is kinda a forgotten gem.

Shame SL2 didn't make it through, I think they'd have gone higher than 39 - I'd probably have given them a +10 or +12 in the final.

It's utterly dreadful. Dance music at its very worst, it doesn't deserve to be any higher.

That doesn't seem to be what most people think though :P So I'm just surprised it's as low as #41 even if some people on this forum do hate it

Im pleased Bluetones are top 30. :cheer:

I'd echo the comments of the poster who suggested ranking our favourite 20 tracks in the final (not that I wish to meddle or grumble as you've been doing a great job!)

Sad to see Stardust so low. Tsssk at Mark!

Getting surprisingly excited about the next batch - come on!
Music Sounds Better With You might have been very influencial but that doesn't mean I want to listen to it or have to like it.
Music Sounds Better With You is obviously a dance classic, and the basic backing track is utterly infectious. But it IS hugely over-rated; I much prefer the mash-up with Teardrops which eliminates the repetitive and damn annoying vocal, and replaces with a MUCH more tolerable one.
It's hardly over rated....didn't it change the direction of dance music? That means it deserves the praise and critical acclaim.
It changed the direction of dance music? Well given dance music from the immediately preceeding and proceeding years, it deserves all of the criticism it gets and more!!!

Not for the better though.

40 - MC Sar & Real McCoy "Another Night" (1994) (+19)

This was number 2 for a week behind Pato Banton and spent five weeks in the top ten. They had 2 more hits after this, one of them went T10 and the other missed out by one spot

+1 other top 20 hit as "Real McCoy" ;)

Shame not many people gave this votes I think I gave them 15 out of the 19

And I gave it the other 4 points!

I suppose it was lucky to get to the final at all, having to go through the wildcard round, but it seems like even a lot of the more 'dancier' voters don't like the song that much as I seem to recall being surprised that a lot of them gave it very low points (or not even voting it at all) in both the yearly round and the wildcard round.

It's probably my favourite eurodance song, too :( Not that there's much competition for that, mind - I'd happily delete every eurodance song (although there are a few more I like) from existence except this one!

Lost Urban Cookie Collective (2 points) from my votes, too - that's it so far, I think!

I absolutely LOVE that Real Mccoy track, I just loved 10 others slightly more. There were at least 25 tracks that I would have happily given points to in the final this time.

It was fine at the time, but it hasn't aged very well.

I think it was forgotten by the general public by 1996! Maybe if it had made it to number 1 it would get more plays these days. Probably the best example of eurodance. I was a bit disappointed to find out the girl in the video (Patsy) wasn't the real singer.

30 - Pet Shop Boys "Go West" (1993) (+25)

It was kept off the top spot for 2 weeks by 2 different songs, the first being Culture Beat "Mr Vain" and the second week DJ Jazzy Jeff/The Fresh Prince "Boom! Shake The Room". You could say MV is remembered but this song definitely deserved number one over the forgotten B!STR. It could have been the 5th number one by the boys.

29 - Blur "Song 2" (1997) (+29)

The first of two songs by Blur on this countdown. It is known for being the 2nd single, the 2nd song on the album, at 2 minutes long and peaking at number 2, and being called Song 2. If R Kelly let this go to the top it would have went 1-13, a bigger drop than Beetlebum, they both spent 3 weeks top 40 as well.

28 - James "Sit Down" (1991) (+29)

This song spent 3 weeks at number 2 behind Chesney Hawkes and it was the first T10 hit for James. They never had as big success as this later, with their follow up going to nine and lots of other singles doing average. 'Sit Down' went to number 7 when it was re-released in 1998.

This is INCORRECT. I know B!STR very well, better than Go West anyway. And I wasn't even alive in 1993.

Anyway, Song 2 should be far higher.
