David Guetta's track should be #1 on tomorrow's update most likely if his lead increases on iTunes by a fair bit.
Thought Blue would fall further actually. Guetta overtaking was obvious but I'd have expected something else to by now. You just know they'll fall to #11 at the last minute a la Beyonce last week :drama:

Guetta could get to #1 at this rate I think :o At least we aren't gonna have PRA at #1 for something stupid like 8 weeks anyway :D

Chris has overtaken JLo :w00t:

Looks like there's gunna' be a lot of high sale single come Sunday - especially for the top 10. Great to see Chris Brown finally topple J-Lopez, although if Guetta actually manages to get #1, it'll mean 'Beautiful People' gets stuck at a number 4 peak.

Irritating that Adele's '19' overtook Radiohead again, I will be really depressed if Fleet Foxes fall to #3 by Sunday. Also: Nicki Minaj was looking to outpeak her #32 album, but looks like that won't be happening - although a second week in the top 40'll be nice.

Great to see Dev and Alexandra Stan on the climb too - although I'd really expected 'Bass Down Low' to be top 30 by now, it's doing surprisingly well on iTunes.

It's already had 4 weeks top 40, this would be its fifth. It originally got to #34 and re-peaked at #32 this year:

I heard the David Guetta track yesterday and it sounded like Sexy Bitch. Is he incapable of making music that actually sounds a little bit different to every other song he's ever done? Its seriously awful to think it'll get no.1, why do people keep buying practically the same thing?

As Eric Blob says all the time, his only sets of 2 songs that sound the same are I Gotta Feeling/Club Can't Handle Me and Sexy Bitch/Where Them Girls At. There are many other artists/producers who are far worse than Guetta in this aspect...

ISTM it'll be the contrary - LMFAO will probably sell 60k this week, if that, and DG won't be very far from that, one way or the other.

Radiohead seem to have a new lease of life, good to see an established band climbing to their peak for once. Where are Foos?

Can you please give me the titles of all his recent songs that sound exactly like Sexy Chick? I can only think of one, so what are the other ones?

I think if youre not a fan of the genre, they do tend to sound alike. I have difficulty telling one Guetta production from another. His treatment of vocals (i.e. synthesising them) seems quite consistent to me too.

19 back to #3 :)

New #1 it is then, again for Guetta!

Hope Jessie J & Pitbull can climb in to top 10, but that'll be next week most probably. :D

Oh okay. It's true, David Guetta has songs that sound the same (most relevent example atm is obviously Sexy Chick and Where Them Girls At), but the majority of his songs are quite distinguisable for me (although he also has a few Love is Gone/I Gotta Feeling clones), but as you said, I'm probably just more accustomed to dance-pop music.

I disagree that Guetta's tunes sound the same - he's by far the best producer at creating so many different and unique productions, although admittedly Sexy Chick, Club Can't Handle Me and Where Them Girls At? all do sound similar.

I'm surprised Pitbull is doing so well with 'Give Me Everything' - I had no idea it'd get to top 10 on iTunes without a music video released yet. Clearly it's gotten chart-smash written all over it, I just didn't expect it to do well this early.

Tbh the only Guetta song that doesn't have its own Guetta duplicate to me is When Love Takes Over and even then its nicked its tune for Coldplay. I just can't believe this track could hit no.1 despite having practically been no.1 20 months ago. And I honestly can't think of worse culprits than Guetta in this respect.

Westlife, Timbaland, Scouting For Girls. That's three far worse offenders just off the top of my head.

RedOne, Alex Da Kid, Timbaland?

When Love Takes Over sampled it's piano loop from Clocks by Coldplay. He didn't "nick" it, because he paid for it!!!

Coldplay are not much better than David Guetta though. Speed of Sound sounds exactly the same as Clocks imo. Like with Just Dance/Poker Face, when Speed of Sound came out, it wasn't until someone told me that I noticed it was a different song to Clocks.

Also, interestingly, Pixie Lott covered When Love Takes Over, except her version sounds like Viva La Vida more than it sounds like Clocks (the Viva La Vida strings start about a minute into the song). This also proves the song isn't reliant on the Clocks sample.

Out of interest, what do you think the Guetta duplicate to Memories is?

And finally, have you heard this song? Except in this situation, Coldplay didn't pay to use the melody from this in Viva La Vida (although they got taken to court for it, and the two artists reached an out of court settlement). This song was released in 2004.
