TO BE FAIR - That guy was actually put on trial

TO BE FAIR - He wasn't "let off", just given a ridiculously short tarriff

TO BE FAIR - Two wrongs don't make a right...

TO BE FAIR - You're comparing chalk with cheese....

He was given a ridiculously short tariff, so let off for his crime with barely any punishment hun.

I think 2 wrongs do make a right, thats just me though, I know some others dont think so

I like chalk and cheese so thanks

This is why I think sometimes that this forum should have an IQ limit...

I took an IQ test and got 102. Is that crap?

No it's just above average Shelli. Wonder what my IQ is?

I'll see about setting one up mate....

Did you see Carol Vorderman on Question Time a couple years ago? She has a very high IQ but it didn't stop her spouting a load of ill-informed nonsense

There's a big difference between IQ and knowledge.

Maybe 120 or higher I'd say.

Let's play a game of "where's the decimal place meant to be" :D

Decision just announced.

The police officer to face a manslaughter trial.

Edited by Common Sense

Call me a cynic but I can't help feeling that it's not a coincidence that this is announced on the day that news coverage will be dominated by news of Barack Obama's visit.

That's probably correct.. I note there's still no news on the Smiley Culture "incident"... That's received little or no press coverage at all..... The only place I seem to hear about developments on that is on the Justice For Smiley Culture Facebook group... The media in this country is, by and large, so pathetically pro-Police to be almost blind to their faults....

I wouldn't say it's necessarily as simple as just being pro-police. I think it's also a matter of laziness. It's easier for them just to print what the police tell them rather than putting in a bit of work to see if there's more to the story. Obviously you'd hope that the blatant lies told about Ian Tomlinson's death would lead to more cynicism but I won't be holding my breath.

The case of David "Smiley Culture" Emmanuel isn't all that far removed from the London Journalists' "M25 Comfort Zone" though.... -_-

I do tend to think a lot of the mainstream media is Pro-Police. You just have to look at how the shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes was reported... Even though you had people coming out of the tube carriage on live TV SAYING that the cops didn't issue a warning and just opened fire, it still became reported as "De Menezes was acting suspiciously" in many of the papers......
