May 16, 201114 yr I wouldn't be at all surprised if she manages 200k+ first week now, especially with all the publicity/hype she got over the weekend.
May 16, 201114 yr I wouldn't be at all surprised if she manages 200k+ first week now, especially with all the publicity/hype she got over the weekend. I think that the promo singles, and visiting and promoting in the UK is going to have a massive difference in the sales now. I predicted 140k, I now predict 180-190k.
May 16, 201114 yr I'm upping my prediction to 225-250k. I think she proved she just needs promotion to do well in the UK. BTW may have underperformed, but now 13/14wks after its release it is back to #13 on iTunes after 2 performances.
May 16, 201114 yr I have a question to ask. On Amazon, Lady GaGa is at #1 and #2 on the Pre-Order chart. On the overall chart, she is at #7 and #17. Does anyone know where Adele was on each chart before her release? Here are her UK Pre-Order positions: Amazon 1. Born This Way (+2) (At #7 on OVERALL Chart) 2. Born This Way (Special Edition) (+3) (At #17 on OVERALL Chart) HMV 1. Born This Way (Special Edition) (=) Play 1. Born This Way (Special Edition) (=) 2. Born This Way (+1) Edited May 16, 201114 yr by Darren-5-08
May 16, 201114 yr Everyones spent their money on Adele albums this year...lol I reckon +200-250K first week though, But Im not sure about the longevity.
May 16, 201114 yr I reckon over 200K I've liked Born This Way and Judas but Edge of Glory and Hair or something else - they are amazing - they've convinced me to buy the album
May 16, 201114 yr I predict 160+, but it will no doubt have HUGE longevity, especially because of the supposed 8-9 singles that could be released. If it does half of what TFM does i will be happy
May 17, 201114 yr Am I the only person who prefers Judas over the other two songs? No, I think Judas is far, far better than BTW and TEOG.
May 17, 201114 yr I predict 225k. She's very clever, just as I feared she would produce an album that was over produced and a bit of a racket, along comes amazing pop songs like Edge of Glory and Hair. Plus Judas has won me over and she does an amazing live version of You And I. Adele will definitely put her in the shade this year sales wise, but Gaga is still the most exciting pop star on the planet!
May 17, 201114 yr I think Zynga could help a lot too. WW as well as UK, of course, but they picked the perfect song for the first GaGaVille release. Marry The Night is PERFECT.
May 17, 201114 yr :o Just read that Interscope shipped 2million copies in the US! Born This Way's Unprecenteded Sales Campaign INTERSCOPE GOO GOO FOR GAGA Promotion for Born This Way Release Next Monday Includes Massive Retail Presence, Performances on American Idol, SNL, Letterman May 17, 2011 If it seems like Lady Gaga is everywhere next week, that’s because she is.The one-woman marketing machine is ready for an all-out blitz for the release of her new Interscope album, Born This Way, next Monday (5/23), with a comprehensive launch plan that includes shipping 2 million albums to a variety of retail outlets as well as a flurry of TV appearances. The unprecedented campaign is being orchestrated by the label’s sales and marketing guru Steve Berman and manager Troy Carter, and no stone has been left unturned. Among the 21,000 non-traditional retailers who will be carrying the album are pharmacies CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens, the latter with a circular ad, as well as Whole Foods, Costco, Nordstrom, Hot Topic, Radio Shack (with circular), Guitar Center, girl’s fashion chain Mandee’s, women’s clothing outlet Dots, Starbucks and a Gilt coupon promotion (an online Groupon-style discount offering). That’s in addition to a massive direct-to-consumer push. Gaga has been ubiquitous on some of TV’s most popular programs. She appeared as a mentor with Jimmy Iovine on last week’s American Idol, giving advice to the four finalists, and will perform on the show’s finale a week from Thursday (5/26). Gaga will also appear on this weekend’s final Saturday Night Live (5/21) featuring host Justin Timberlake. On day of release (5/23), Lady will be featured on The Late Show with David Letterman, with several morning show appearances also on tap. The title track to the album became the fastest selling single in iTunes history, selling one million copies in five days, when it was released in February. The fourth single from the album, "Hair," hit yesterday, following the title track, "Judas" and "The Edge of Glory.” Gaga hit Europe last week, performing briefly on the sidelines of the Cannes film festival, was the guest editor of the London-based global free newspaper Metro, appeared on Radio One and has teamed up with Zynga’s popular online social game Farmville to create Gagaville, stream select songs and offer special promotions. Starting today, Farmville players can access a Lady Gaga-branded farm decorated with themes from the “Born This Way” music video. Players can also unlock and stream one new song off the album per day between May 17 and 19. Between May 20 and 23, players can unlock and stream “a significant portion” of songs from the album. Non-Farmville Zynga players can also access Gaga-branded items through Rewardville to display across Cityville, Frontierville, Mafia Wars, Zynga Poker, Café World, Treasure Isle, Yoville, Petville, and Vampire Wars. The promotion continues with Zynga’s $25 game cards at Best Buy. Customers who purchase the card automatically receive an exclusive Gaga unicorn animal, a free download of the Born This Way album on street date, and the chance to win a pass to watch Lady Gaga tape her next music video. There is also a wide-ranging Yahoo campaign on tap. Early estimates of first-week sales range widely from 500k to 750k.
May 17, 201114 yr With THREE songs in the top 10 and FOUR in the top 15 and all on new album its highly anticipated, could sell 175,000+? Not quite sure really could be more could be less but i'd say no less then 150,000.
May 18, 201114 yr Hopefully she'll flop. I voted for 100-150k though as it's the most realistic in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if she hit 200k at the same time. There are lots of chavs buying music nowadays.
