Mutya had more talent at 3years old than Cheryl Cole will ever have. Mutya Buena is one of this countries greatest ever singers and she has a beautiful, soothing and distinctive voice. Whether you like her or not, you have to be delusional to the point of living in a padded cell not to be able to admit that Mutya Buena is more talented and is therefore more suitable to judge a talent show.

It's not all about looks, Mutya is an extraordinarily talented young woman.

Why, even when I try to take your criticism with humour, do you reply back and make it all seem so serious ? Chill out, there is no need to put this thread at war.

I totally get that you think Cheryl will be an awful judge, and ok if it's your opinion, so now maybe you could as well accept that some people, including me, think she will be absolutely fine. Because that's the kind of things we will never agree on, it seems.

And it's been discussed a million times before, a great vocalist don't necessarily make a great judge. You often hear big artists saying in interviews that they couldn't be a judge on a talent show, because that's not in their nature and it's basically not their job. Singing and judging/mentoring have very little in common. And in that respect, J Lo and Dannii aren't great vocalists neither, still they have proved to be good judges. Cheryl's long and successful experience on talent shows and in the music industry is a good enough reason to have her on any panel.

I beg to differ. Both J-Lo and Dannii have better voices than they are given credit for, Dannii especially. They are more than capable of holding a note, they don't

have the power of someone like Celine Dion but they don't need to for the type of music they do. But when it comes down to it, they can dish out the power :P

Humour? Really? I don't take put downs of Mutya's talent lightly. Her vocals got me through some pretty tough times and that woman is one of my idols and points of inspiration. She doesn't care what people think of her, she just gets out there and lives life the way she wants to live and releases some amazing music while doing it.

Mutya = Reaction. There was no need for that slam, you could easily have removed it and you would have had me agreeing with you on it being amusing to read.

I posted it because I saw it and found it amusing, Mutya uploaded the photo with the caption "Errrrrrr" so this was never about me suggesting she'd be more suitable. Mutya made a brief appearance at #98 in the US charts 8 years ago, she's as well known as Cheryl and isn't as camera friendly.

But talent knows talent. Why do you think they ask the likes of JLo and Xtina? People in the industry who are well respected and have serious talent make for great judges.

If you remember back to her debut on X Factor I was impressed by Cheryl's ability as a judge. My criticism is her recent lack of critical comments, she's become cliché with her comments and that irritates me. As much as I can't stand her singing I was in favour of her position on the UK Panel. I just don't think the American's are going to take to her in the way Cowell and she hopes.

I have heard Keisha say she couldn't do it as she couldn't bring herself to be mean to the really bad ones.

I am going to offer a rare apology for the slight overreaction, but I have no intention on putting this thread at war. If I wanted to do that there is a word I could have used :heehee:

Simon isn't a singer :P

"Cheryl shouldn't judge people on their singing abilities, when she can't sing herself".

Okay. Then why are Simon, Dannii, Sharon and Louis allowed to? The same applies to them. Even Dannii. If Cheryl's bad, then she's not good either.

Cheryl >>>>> Mutya, on every level except voice. Songs/likeability/looks/celebrity/personality. As if US X Factor would want a tired old trout of an ex-band member who can't even maintain a solo career in her own country (good voice, or not) over our biggest star. And I ain't no Girls Aloud or Cheryl loon, I just see facts. I don't expect Cheryl to go down well in the US but she's got a FAR better shot than Mutya ever would.

If Mutya was worthy, she'd be considered to appear on the UK version of the show and she never has been as far as I'm concerned. (The very fact this appeared on her Facebook page proves she's kinda bitter about that too.)

Mutya is probably the last person in the country who'd want a spot on the judging panel on the X Factor. It appeared on her facebook because she was puzzled by her name being mentioned. Hence the "Errrrrrr" caption that it appeared with.

Simon and Louis are aware they can't sing- its not their profession, this does not apply to them- if you were to say to them, 'well you can't sing either', they'd happily admit they can't- they are judges, you don't have to be a singer to be able to judge vocal ability

with people whom singing is their profession, its different, the reason some people criticise Cheryl is because she's judging on singing when she isn't the best of vocalist's herself, so some would see it as hypocritical- not my views here, just what people say :P

Danni's not the best of singers, but I think she's decent enough not to get any criticism

I was laughing at the Mutya mention in that press scan, I wasn't laughing at Mutya herself or at her singing abilities, sorry if it wasn't clear. I do like the girl, if only for "Song 4 Mutya"

But it was a bit random to see her name mentioned by one of her fan in a X Factor US related article, it was a bit out of topic, as she was never considered to be a judge on X Factor US.

And I think Cheryl has moderate ambitions for the US. People keep fighting about if she's going to be A FLOP or A HUGE HIT in the US, my guess is the truth is probably inbetween. As you say, she isn't known there, so I'm sure she's realisticaly aiming at a moderate success, which would already be good for her. She won't be the nation's sweetheart of the USA as she was in the UK.

Danni is barely any better than Cheryl (if not worse; they both only hit about 50% of the notes correctly when singing live). Just she's not as pretty, and wasn't labelled "Nation's Sweetheart" by the media, so people hate her less.

I'm sure Cheryl is fully aware she isn't an amazing vocalist. But I think it's ridiculous that you expect her to go on TV and say "I'm not a good singer" infront of 10 million people?! Everybody in the country knows, anyway. She's been employed, so I think it's best that she just does her job to the best of her ability.

To be honest, I can't imagine Cheryl doing well in the US, since she's not urban enough really. But her chart success in Europe and Australia proves she doesn't need to be Nation's Sweetheart to do it. In all the other countries, she got her top 10 hits simply from people hearing the songs on the radio and buying them.

And whats your point neither is Cheryl :P

Mutya would never take a judges role but the woman is fire and has more personality in her fingertip than Cheryl. She is though really brash and overconfident I imagine she would rub people up the wrong way but her voice is pure Gold.

*ALLEGED.

We have Libel issues to look out for

That sucks.

Do you know, I'd quite enjoy it with Cherly sued Buzzjack. It would be our collective claim to fame. We'd go STRATOSPHERIC.
And whats your point neither is Cheryl :P

That is quite clearly untrue. She has a pop career and has a decent singing voice, therefore she is a singer.

I know :( I've already had to do a major spring cleaning to this thread.

Do you know, I'd quite enjoy it with Cherly sued Buzzjack. It would be our collective claim to fame. We'd go STRATOSPHERIC.

It would be rather amusing to seem them try to track down all of the members.

Sorry to butt into a non-serious conversation but as Buzzjack moderates the site, I believe Buzzjack is responsible for all content - so the buck stops with the site owner. The threat to the actual poster who commits the libel remains small whilst we are actively moderating all forums. This is why we insist on keeping everything as libel free as possible!
