There was no directors' version edited together. They scrapped the footage of the bits that did get shot.

Gaga better realize this and someone better slap her face that the video is a disaster or recycled concept, dance moves and repeated parts in the video.
Had to force myself to watch the video, so boring! Disappointing because its the best song on the album.
I am waiting for a tweet from Gaga surrounding the negativity of the video, or an interview where they ask Gaga about the fans reactions to the video.
It's a good video, I was just expecting something a bit more. I'd have accepted from someone like Ciara/Keri Hilson but from Gaga I just expected more.

*Sigh* , I do have my hopes up because there are some songs which have 2 music videos and hope she will reshoot a better one....

Just as I want Gaga to clarify on the negativity on twitter, she tweets nonsense -_-

Thank you so much for your sweet messages about The Edge of Glory Video! I love it so much, and thank you to everyone involved in making it.
Interesting, how many copies they can sell when the video is crap and the song is good

Reading that and seeing the set's is like rubbing salt in the wounds :( Sounds and looks like it could have been so much better if she hadn't had been so controlling. Completely agree that she has too many yes men around her. I'd love to see her explaining this in an interview. Though no doubt she's just revert to the old "It's about being halfway between reality and fantasy at all times" which she always seems to bring out recently when she hasn't got a clue.

I feel like the only person who really enjoyed it. After disappointing videos like Alejandro & BTW, I'm happy with it, not extended for nothing, just as long as the song itself. Thought she looked pretty good too.

I don't mind the change, I was very unsure about a 'fishy' theme.

In what way was the Judas video not watchable?

Personal taste. It was FAR superior to BTW and Alejandro however. It just wasn't a music video up to standard with, say, Bad Romance.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't like it much, but it was undoubtably a step in the right direction.

So are you saying the Gimme More video was BETTER?

I wouldn't argue with that.

I'd say Britney edges it out just because of the nipple tassles.

I think the negativity is being taken too far. Its disappointing, but not awful, not awful at all.

Yeap, just boring and cheap

UGH. So disappointed! This song deserved an epic video (something which matched the song - from the sounds of it Joseph Khan WOULD have done that!) and we get left with something half arsed and so lazy.

I agree. It's ridiculous. I'm starting to believe the people that said she believes her own hype way too much now. Khan's idea sounds like it could have been a career highlight.

Then again, not a lot of videos are on par with Bad Romance

I kind the like the fact that she dances alones in the video, it's a nice break from having her always surrounded by dancers.

Yeah, it's a bit boring and lazy, but I don't mind it.

I'm actually appreciating this video now, it reminds me of retro 80s videos; early Madonna but more specifically Billie Jean. The lighting and smoke is fabulous at creating an otherworldy tone, her last moments of celebrating her "glory" in the place that she truly loves before she crosses over to the other side; celebrating in the place that gave birth to her literally and creatively, and the place where she will most likely die. And when GaGa does die, I can see this being the video that is shown on news coverage, and the video that is looked on most fondly and iconically; for the fact that it's just her.

The video clearly has faults: it's rough round the edges; there's no progression to a big climax, only a subtle end; GaGa's prancing around can be a bit eye rolling at times, and the whole debacle surrounding the shooting taints it. Regardless, I can appreicate what GaGa is doing with this video and it's actually quite beautiful in its simplicity. It wears its heart on its sleave and it's the most honest thing GaGa has ever done.

It didn't need mermaids and doctors to get this across, she changed her mind. Sometimes a cigar is a cigar.
