May 9, 201114 yr The Matrix confused me for years when I first saw it (although admittedly I was 9 years old when I watched it for the first time.

May 10, 201114 yr It has to be Eraserhead for me. I have no idea what it was all about. I got fed up with people telling me how great Eraserhead was ... I watched it and thought it was a little bit pants to be honest! True ... I didn't understand it ... but not understanding a film isn't always a barrier to enjoying it (as well as Frailty there have been lots of films that I've not understood - but I still enjoyed them) Have you ever seen a film called 'Last Year in Marienbad' ... if you get the chance - DON'T! One of those films that you actually DO understand but you wonder why the hell the film-maker made it. He wasn't even on drugs ... so he had no excuse. Kath Edited May 10, 201114 yr by Kathyp

Can't see why it's so confusing personally but you do have to pay attention

Can't see why it's so confusing personally but you do have to pay attention I understood that the 'God's Hand' killer wasn't the brother you thought it was ... but I couldn't tell at the end which one was which! And to be honest - it wasn't so much confusion - as there were too many discrepencies in the film itself - and too many untied loose ends. May 11, 201114 yr Blade Runner. I must admit it took me several times to watch it to understand it. Well, considering there have been several different cuts of the film, I can understand that..... :lol: :lol:

They're all pretty logical... AVATAR???? That's one of the most f**king braindead films I think I've seen in the past several years, honestly, I could predict where everything was heading in that film... Mainly because I'd already seen Dances With Wolves, Aliens and The Abyss..... -_- Donnie Darko, similarly has a logic to it, and it one of the most poetic films.. Vanilla Sky is a sh*t American remake of a brilliant Spanish film (Open Your Eyes), the original is perfect, Vanilla Sky tries to be all "bat-sh"t weird", with Tom Cruise ludicrously over-acting and just generally being a c**t as he always is, and misses the emotional core of the original film....
May 11, 201114 yr MULLHOLLAND DRIVE /thread THIS! I can't think of any other films that have confused me but a lot confuse me in the sense that I'm like did they seriously end it like that?! Burn after reading switchblade romance especially!
May 12, 201114 yr I ADORE Mulholland Drive because it's so confusing. The first time I watched it was such an emotional experience -- I remember being terrified, deeply sad and laughing hysterically at different parts. I watched it two more times over the next two days to try to figure it out. Of course I eventually realized it's not a matter of "getting it" but rather drawing one's own conclusions, which is what is great about Lynch's films and what is so missing from 99% of Hollywood films. It's shocking that Naomi Watts wasn't nominated for Best Actress. But perhaps its Rebekah Del Rio who really steals the show: AIpkMg9sh6Q
