Technically if they actually did vote in Eurovision a jury vote would also have to be included. Since there's no australian version of a jury vote we can't tell how Australia would have voted.

When Australia watched the Eurovision, they already knew Azerbaijan had won, as they watched it several hours later. I heard about it on another forum, from an Australian who watches Eurovision.

I suspect it coming last was a form of a protest vote. I guess most of them thought it was a mid-table song , and didn't vote for it.

Can Australia ever send a song to Eurovision? They must be part of the EBU to be able to show the tv show?

True, they already knew the winner!

I dont think they "protest vote", but when you know the winners, its just not funny to vote on it again.

But most Australians who vote on SBS are fans who would rather watch it live without knowing the winner... I didn't know Azerbaijan had won until it was shown on Australian TV

No because they are thousands of miles from actually being in Europe or even Eurasia.

I believe SBS [Aus] has a special agreement that allows them to broadcast the event [They pay of course] because there is a high demand for it to be shown in Australia.

But they are still paying to broadcast the event... imo if a country like Israel can participate, then it should be open to anybody who is paying to broadcast the event or be exclusive to just European countries.
