http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=115827 BTW did quite well on the international South Korea charts :kink: as did her other songs

Wow. Why was Abracadabra by Jessie J #6?

But yeah, getting to #1 in the International chart over there is like getting to #100 in the overall chart.

Last year Tik Tok by Ke$ha and Nothin' On You by B.o.B/Bruno Mars were the only songs to be big hits "overall" there, if I remember correctly.

Beyonce got to #2 there, so she's quite successful. I think Run the World would've done better in South Korea, but South Korea is currently still waiting for an apology from North Korea for last year's deadly attacks for the sake of the resumption of inter-Korean dialogue, so I think that might've hindered its chart performance.

WHO GIVES A f***?! Totally off topic and a moot point!

On the topic of South Korean chart, Diana charted there too :D Once at #39, The Boy Who Murdered Love at #16 and Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree at #15!!!

I'll use any opportunity to do some Diana looning ;)

Here's the year-end top 20 for South Korea from last year with sales:

1) Tik Tok - Ke$ha 1,412,653

2) Nothin` On You (Feat. Bruno Mars) - B.o.B 1,228,455

3) Love The Way You Lie (Feat. Rihanna) - Eminem 1,213,252

4) Telephone (Feat. Beyonce) - Lady GaGa 1,027,342

5) Because Of You - Kelly Clarkson 1,002,302

6) Nothin` On You (Feat. Jaebeom) - B.o.B 870,990

7) I`m Yours - Jason Mraz 823,820

8) DJ Got Us Fallin` In Love (Feat. Pitbu... - Usher 801,627

9) Honesty - Beyonce 778,941

10) Slow Motion Karina 749,710

11) Baby (Feat. Ludacris) - Justin Bieber 695,505

12) Poker Face - Lady GaGa 673,219

13) Shots (Feat. Lil Jon) - LMFAO 644,331

14) Like a G6 (Feat. Dev & The Cataracs) 614,712

15) Blah Blah Blah (Feat. 3OH!3) - Ke$ha 585,536

16) Beautiful Monster - Ne-Yo 578,050

17) Not Afraid - Eminem 567,119

18) Take A Bow - Rihanna 537,407

19) 3 - Britney Spears 506,954

20) Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas 501,191

Beyonce had 2 songs in the year-end top 2, so whatever you want to believe, she IS massive there. The only artist who had 2 songs in the UK's year-end top 10 was Rihanna, so use that for comparison.

Also interesting that LMFAO were big in South Korea before in the UK. Hmmmmmmmm.

And good to see Take a Bow by Rihanna is still big 2 years after it came out. And Love the Way You Lie at #3. Rihanna is amazing.

Does the fact that Love the Way You Lie is a million-seller in South Korea, but not in the UK make anybody PHYSICALLY SICK!?!? They can't even understand the lyrics over there. We should be ashamed. :(

Oh, and also, the #91-#100 of the overall year-end chart.

91 Bye Bye Bye Hwayobi Hwayobi 1514905

92 Because Of You Because of You [single] After School (After School) 1514728

93 Separation comes The Bridge Eight (8eight) 1512816

94 Hair today, gone 3rd Album Part. B - Growing Season Younha 1494719

95 Ppiri bye NARSHA (EP) Narsha 1489583

96 Magical Girl (魔法 少女) The First Mini Album Caramel Orange (Orange Caramel) 1488907

97 Laughter .. Difference (EP) Zia (Zia) 1487539

98 Love Ballad Browneyed Soul Brown Eyed Soul (Brown Eyed Soul) 1485003

99 Shining star (☆ ★ ☆) `Run Devil Run` The 2nd Album Repackage Girls 1480417

100 They're Road Number OST IU (IU) 1477767

So the #100 there sold more than the #1 in the International chart.

And the year-end #1 sold 3,352,827. That makes Someone Like You's sales seem kinda pathetic, huh?

And Ke$ha wrote their year-end #2 (it's called Run Devil Run, and it's REALLY GOOD, search it on youtube, and if you don't like the song, the girls in the music video are really hot, so it's worth checking out anyway), which might explain why Tik Tok was so popular.

Eric, do you genuinely not get it or are you just being a troll?

Timeline of events:

1. I say RTW(G) hasn't been massive anywhere.

2. You say South Korea is an example of somewhere it's been massive.

3. This is pretty much conclusively shown to be incorrect.

4. You completely change the subject from RTW(G) to GaGa and some random stuff about South Korea for no reason.

(Also, I never said Beyoncé isn't massive in South Korea, I said Run The World (Girls) wasn't massive in South Korea. Which it wasn't.)

I think The Saturdays might go in at #11 come tomorrow. They are down to #18 now with everything combined. Going to be tough for them to hold on.

Yeah, they might miss the top 10. Anyway, back on topic:

You forgot a KEY EVENT in your timeline. North Korea's attacks on South Korea last year, which as I explained above, are probably responsible for Run the World only getting to #2 in South Korea's International chart.

And you said South Korea doesn't matter, but songs sell more in South Korea than they do in the UK, as I've shown above, and the sales figures are compiled by Gaon, who estimate all music sales except physical sales by the digital chart, which is a combination of the mobile chart (which estimates the best-selling ringtones) and the online chart (which calculates downloads and bgm sales as well as streaming services), so the figures are accurate.

No I didn't.

Songs in South Korea are sold for a ridiculously low amount which is why sales are so high. And I didn't say South Korea doesn't matter anyway? Of course it matters, all countries matter. That doesn't change the fact that RTW(G) hasn't been massive in South Korea. :drama:

Anyway, this argument clearly didn't get enough oxygen at birth.

just a note, Born This Way got to number 1 in South Korea despite you claiming she fails to go top 300 :kink:

thats the last I'm saying on this rather random discussion

There are some places in South Korea which sell songs for expensive, I believe, just there's a few sites which sell them really cheap (or let you download like 40 songs a month for a tenner or something), so people opt for those. If people want to buy sound for 1-Korean-sterling they can do if they go to the correct place.

And this has nothing to do with Lady Gaga. This is the iTunes thread.

It got to #1 on the International Chart. I gave sales figures above. That usually puts you well out of the top 100 in the overall chart. And Beyonce got #2 in the International chart. So if Born This Way was a hit, so was Run the World. They were both hits, or both not.

This conversation is so boring. Is it really necessary? We all know that "Run the World (Girls)" hasn't been successful, can we move past it now?
South Korea don't even get iTunes.

Which is why it doesn't have anything to do with the iTunes thread. The UK iTunes thread.

Anyway, can we actually get on topic now? The last few pages have been ridiculous.

Run the World has been successful in some places. Like it got #1 on the Hate Chart, I believe.

Yeah, SHUSH about South Korea already. I don't want to close this bitch. Well, I do, so give me an excuse!
Beyonce mighn't've done well in South Korea - but Kim Jong Il's cover was huge in the North.

The woman in your avatar that is deep-throating a banana reminds me of Rihanna from the S&M video.
