Oh wow! :o Go Riri! Really surprised she's managed another top 10 hit (on iTunes at least) (and it's deserved!) from a million selling album, that hasn't been re-released! :o Please climb and go top 5

EDIT: Oooh and a second entry at #581! I don't think that was there earlier/a few days ago! :D

According to this Someone Like You has a tempo of 132:

Whilst Russian Roulette has a tempo of 82:

I hate Russian Roulette though, so I don't really care. :(

Eric, it's not a ballad. Full Stop :cheer:

Russian Roulette IS a ballad. Not important anyway (as a lot of the discussions in this thread aren't).

I'm Into You still #8 :D Must be top 15 officially tomorrow!

Well, tempo is clearly not an arguement! It's a VERY slow song imo. Slower than Someone Like You, evidently.

But yeah, it's maybe not a ballad in terms of the lyrics. It like a suicide song, more than anything! :o

EDIT: I know it's not actually a suicide song btw. But that's what I thought when I first heard it. All I can remember from it is "pull the trigger".

Russian Roulette is a ballad. There is no question about that whatsoever. I guess you could call it a murder ballad or a funeral march if you wanted to. Still a ballad.

yes it is  its a slow tempo and mainly piano led- its more of a ballad than California King Bed imo

It's probably more boring than a funeral march tbh.

No it's a ballad because I SAY SO! :D

Russian Roulette may be depressing but its a f***ing tune imo. ^_^

Rihanna is probably the most popular artist in the world right now i'd say. (Lady Gaga/Justin Bieber both huge yes and huge social network wise, however for as many fans you have as many haters) but with Rihanna i know very few people who dont like her or her music, like Beyonce (however Bey isnt having the same success Rihanna is having now - but can anyone really say they dont like Beyonce?) ;)

California King Bed top 10!! :w00t:

Really been wanting it to get top 10.

Love every Rihanna ballad. , so always great to see them do well.

Oh, and just to defend it, Russian Roulette is amazing!!

Rihanna is catching up with Lady Gaga in terms of facebook fans, even though Lady Gaga has a new album out. :kink: And Eminem has already overtaken Lady Gaga!

I would say Lady Gaga might be the most popular in the world though. I hate to admit it, but I think if I went to random people on the street and asked them who the biggest pop star was, I think most of them would say Lady Gaga.

Also, with Rihanna and everybody liking her music, I think you'll find most people like some Rihanna songs. But I think that's because she does a bit of everything. Like the dance fans will like Who's That Chick? The RnB fans can like Take a Bow and What's My Name? The hip hop fans can like Run This Town and Live Your Life. The pop fans can like Only Girl and Disturbia. And so on.

But you'll probably find whilst a lot of people can name a few Rihanna songs they love, most of them could also name a few they hate. Look at me! I love Rihanna to bits, but I'm saying Russian Roulette is more boring than a funeral march atm!

It's without a doubt Lady Gaga is the worlds most known and popular artist at current times. Those who argue that is just..... -_-

I wouldn't say "without a doubt", but yes, if they were going to poll everyone in the world on this, I'd place my bets on Lady Gaga winning.

Neither Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Britney Spears at the moment is bigger than Lady Gaga in terms of fame. Britney back in her peak days, yes she is but not now.

Current Pop Megastars.

Rihanna: 34,945,076 :o(Twitter followers - 5,360,140)

Gaga: 35,976,952 :o(Twitter followers - 10,506,838 :o)

Eminem: 38,002,007 :o(Twitter followers - 4,447,169)

Justin Bieber: 28,273,182 (Twitter followers - 10,010,602 :o)

Beyonce: 21,994,158 (Twitter followers 1,232,749)

Katy Perry: 26,274,008 (Twitter followers 7,574,254)

Black Eyed Peas: 19,087,530 (Under 500,000 twitter followers)

Legends.

Michael Jackon: 34,087,455

Madonna: 5,262,226

Elvis Presley: 4,008,254

The Beatles: 18,155,858

FB Fans. Great promo!

ofcourse FB wasnt even around when the legends were so obviously current popstars have the upper hand. :P

SLY #20

RITD #25

Wonder if SLY will soon be overtaken by RITD..

Edited by Karma

I can't see how Eminem is bigger than Gaga tbh..... but who knows :P

However, a better way to tell who's popular right now might be in terms of daily growth though, where it's ranked:

1. Rihanna

2. Shakira

3. Eminem

4. The Black Eyed Peas

5. Katy Perry

6. Lady Gaga

7. Akon (I assume Lady Gaga fans feel obliged )

8. Beyonce

9. Usher

10. Avril Lavigne

So the whole top 5 are gaining on Lady Gaga (or in Eminem's case, he's distancing from her, since he's already overtaken her :D).

But if Facebook was popular since like, 2000, Lady Gaga wouldn't even have been ahead of Shakira, Eminem, Rihanna and Akon anyway. Especially Shakira, Eminem and Akon, since their "glory days" were before the facebook boom. The top two would probably be Britney Spears and Eminem, judging by who I felt were the most popular, by MILES. And people like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera would probably be very high too.

Of course it's a ballad...
