Posted May 28, 201114 yr I read here that people wondered that there's so many European music in today's UK chart. So let's talk about it! I think it's something not always quality, but almost always very interesting from a musical point of view. It's quite unlike to classic British and American pop. What do you think guys? Is it entitled to live? Edited May 28, 201114 yr by FunFan
May 29, 201114 yr Author Ok, with a few examples it would be better i hope. Benny Benassi, Robyn, Inna, even Alexandra Stan (low level though), Martin Solveig (it's French, but good, isn't it?), Sweedish House Mafia, September, Cascada...... and so on. -jqg0mSzVcU BXpdmKELE1k 83vhhEQIRy0
May 29, 201114 yr I am a proper loon for Scandipop. Tone Damli Aaberge, Maria Haukaas Storeng, Eric Saade, Mans Zelmerlow, Mira Craig, Sanna Nielsen to name but a few of my favourite artists. I am also loving Romania's emergence as a Dance/Pop power, Caro Emerald of Dutch fame and some of Germany's more quirky pop.

But I can't agree about Romanian music. Dan Balan, Vika Jigulina, Alexandra Stan... That's all is beneath criticism. Inna's a bit better but not so much. I have the impression that it's being produced in one room by one team who just changes performers. Perfomers are sexy, it's true :D but music is a very low level.

I don't think (apart from Robyn), that the above mentioned arists are really 'pop' though. European pop isn't really big though is it? I can't think of any acts that are HUGE anywhere outside their own country. We do have a few FANTASTIC pop singers in the Netherlands that are worth checking out though
May 30, 201114 yr ^^ Who are you referring to 'cause I got none lol (except our lovely Caro of course).

But all genres mixed up now (not only in music btw), they're popular, so why don't call them "pop"? :D Yeah, EP isn't really big, and there are many interesting but not so well-known music in Europe, so let's post here something. Not obligatory pop (without trash metal though :P ). G-PtcVegvcI What do you think? Sounds familiar? :P
June 7, 201114 yr Remember Belgium's DOMINANCE from 2000 - 2004? I don't care if Ian Van Dahl, Dee Dee, Lasgo, Sylver, Kate Ryan, DHT and Milk Inc. all sounded the same... I WORSHIPPED them all. PS: Sylver's Turn the Tide is some kind of high point in popular music. Edited June 7, 201114 yr by Consie
June 7, 201114 yr ^^ Who are you referring to 'cause I got none lol (except our lovely Caro of course). Anouk is (or used to be) amazing, and had international class tbh. Lisa Lois is also a singer that could do moderately well outside of the Netherlands. A singer like Glennis Grace would also have a shot with that incredible voice
June 7, 201114 yr I love all the ones Silas listed, plus Ola and Danny are two faves! I also have a soft spot for Inna, Elize and loads of others! Just far too many too list
June 13, 201114 yr I am so so pleased a song like 'Mr Saxobeat' has entered the UK charts at such a high position! Hopefully this will be the start of change to our chart without the usual american rap stuff. I'm also a big fan of inna and i'm also so pleased she has had three top 40 hits at least in the UK and she had been over here in the last few days and even performed somewhere! Hopefully we can have a romanian artist like inna tour here - i have a feeling it will happen now. But hopefully this is the start. And I hope now that Inna, edward maya and Alexandra have been successful, artists like elena will also follow in their path. But my question is, how did Alexandra stan get known over here and how has she entered at such a high position? This is a first right? I'm sure inna had got more publicity and had been known the past year or so but i haven't heard of alexandra before she entered the chart. Hopefully this is a change now and I hope more european music enters our charts. I am pretty bored of the other songs in our chart at the moment and I feel european artists are a lot more diverse. Some of which are very talented. Edited June 13, 201114 yr by Ruslana
June 13, 201114 yr Author How about Scooter? Once it was presented in Britain and stably took top places of the charts. I believe Scooter still has got a lot of fans here. Their best song 5aTSjhAy9Tw Their last weird video  hRqAOyXL15Q
June 22, 201114 yr I prefer European Music (pop, rock or dance) to most of the stuff churned out from UK & USA with a few exceptions. Europe's Dance/Techno/Hardcore from the mid-late 90s was brilliant. Acts such as Scooter - U96 - Westbam - Blumchen - Mr. President - Culture Beat - Sqeezer - Mark'oh - Members Of Mayday - Marusha - Pharao - Masterboy - DJ Hooligan and loads more I also love acts such as Silbermond, Within Temptation, Culcha Candela and many more. True. It's a pity that only Culture Beat could take the first place in UK charts and Scooter could climb just to 2nd place. It's understood, however. There were enough good British music that time  I can say that now it's appreciable crisis of dance-pop music in the UK. Just Calvin Harris now is still making quality things  Btw, did everyone see last Benny Benassi's video? It's hard to mix up his sound with something else :P High quality track. Won't take 1st place in Britain, though... 8k01lcSB0-g

PS: Sylver's Turn the Tide is some kind of high point in popular music. Me too, Belgium rocks! Really sad Kate Ryan became less popular as she's one of my favorite artists... Paris Avenue started big as well, but haven't heard nothing about them recently, sad.. Danzel has released "Under arrest" and "Outta control" recently, and well, Stromae is playing big at the moment.... Romanian music is great, though a lot of arrangements are really similar
