BILLBOARD: 'Idols' Scotty McCreery & Lauren Alaina Top Hot 100 Debuts, Adele Still No. 1

June 01, 2011 4:05 EDT

Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" banks a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, to be released tomorrow (June 2) on Billboard.com, while this year's "American Idol" champion and runner-up roar in with top 20 debuts.

"Deep" ascends 2-1 on Radio Songs (144 million in audience, up 6%, according to Nielsen BDS) and 3-1 on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart. With it having topped the Triple A adult alternative airplay list (for 14 weeks), the song is the first by a woman to have ruled all three radio-based rankings and just the third among all acts, following Shawn Mullins' "Lullabye" (1998) and Goo Goo Dolls' "Slide" (1998-99). On Digital Songs, "Deep" registers a fourth frame at No. 1 (254,000 downloads sold, down 14%, according to Nielsen SoundScan).

Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," featuring Ne-Yo, AfroJack and Nayer, rises 3-2 on the Hot 100 with Airplay Gainer honors, advancing 6-4 on Radio Songs (100 million, up 16%). The track holds at No. 2 on Digital Songs (210,000, down 1%).

Katy Perry's former Hot 100 No. 1 "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, dips 2-3; Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor," featuring Pitbull, rises 5-4, swapping spots with the Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" (4-5); and, Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" holds at No. 6, while Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" maintains its No. 7 rank.

As Lady GaGa's "Born This Way" blasts in atop the Billboard 200 with the biggest sales week since 2005, "The Edge of Glory," the album's third radio single, rebounds 19-8 on the Hot 100 with the chart's Digital Gainer award (after debuting at No. 3 two weeks ago). The song storms 14-4 on Digital Songs (165,000, up 74%), while jumping 37-24 on Radio Songs (39 million, up 31%). Two other tracks from "Born" enter the Hot 100 on the strength of digital sales: "You and I" (No. 37; 83,000) and "Marry the Night" (No. 79; 35,000).

LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, retreats 8-9 on the Hot 100, while DJ Khaled's "I'm on One," featuring Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, rockets 78-10 (159,000 downloads, up 798%).

2011 "Idol" champion Scotty McCreery scores the Hot 100's Hot Shot Debut with victory ballad "I Love You This Big" at No. 11. The song, which McCreery sang on the Fox show's May 24 and May 25 finale-week episodes, starts at No. 3 on Digital Songs (171,000). As previously reported, "I Love You This Big" logs the highest debut on Billboard's Country Songs chart (No. 32) for a brand new artist's first single since the survey adopted BDS data the week of Jan. 20, 1990.

"Idol" runner-up Lauren Alaina charges onto the Hot 100 at No. 20 with "Like My Mother Does," which begins at No. 11 on Digital Songs (121,000). Alaina likewise enjoys early support from country radio, as the cut, which she performed May 24 on "Idol," starts at No. 49 on Country Songs.

The "Glee" cast sends five songs onto the Hot 100 from the Fox series' May 24 second-season finale, led by two songs written specifically for the episode: "Light Up the World" (No. 33; 86,000 downloads sold) and "Pretending" (No. 40; 79,000).

After she performed the song on the star-studded May 25 "Idol" season wrap-up, Beyoncé enters the Hot 100 at No. 57 with "1+1" (57,000 downloads). Her "Run the World (Girls)" similarly benefits from her performances on the 2011 Billboard Music Awards May 22 and the first half of the two-day "Oprah Winfrey Show" all-star celebration May 23, lifting from No. 50 to a new peak of No. 29. The track had debuted at No. 33 five weeks ago.

Other notable Hot 100 debuts include Reeve Carney's "Rise Above 1," featuring Bono and the Edge (No. 74), after the star of the Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" performed the song with the members of U2 on "Idol" May 25; Kenny Chesney's top 25 (27-21) Country Songs hit "You and Tequila," featuring Grace Potter (No. 92); and, "Man Down," the fifth chart entry -- which concurrently rises 40-34 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs -- from Rihanna's album "Loud" (No. 94) (as her new pop single "California King Bed" pushes 80-66 in its second week).

YAHOO: He Was In It To Win It

June 1, 2011 6:29pm PDT

Scotty McCreery's "I Love You This Big," the first single by the new American Idol champ, enters the Hot 100 at #11. Lauren Alaina's "Like My Mother Does," the first single by this year's Idol runner-up, debuts at #20. These songs have already outpaced the singles by last year's top two Idol finishers. Lee DeWyze's cover of U2's "Beautiful Day" peaked at #24. Crystal Bowersox's reading of Patty Griffin's "Up On The Mountain" stalled at #57. McCreery and Alaina scored even higher on Hot Digital Songs. "I Love You This Big" ranked #3 on that chart (171K). "Like My Mother Does" ranked #11 (121K).

Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" tops the Hot 100 for the fourth straight week. This marks the second time in the past few years that a song by a female British artist has logged four weeks at #1. Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" achieved the same feat in the spring of 2008. "Rolling In The Deep" tops the 3 million mark this week, as digital sales swell to 3,219,000 copies. "Bleeding Love" has sold 4,168,000 copies. "Bleeding Love" received a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. "Rolling In The Deep" is certain to be included in that category when this year's nominations are announced in December.

Pitbull's zesty "Give Me Everything" (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer) moves up from #3 to #2 on the Hot 100. It also logs its second week at #1 in the U.K. It's vying to become the second song to top both the charts in both countries in 2011. Bruno Mars' "Grenade" was the first. "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock dips from #8 to #9. "I'm On One" by DJ Khaled featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne vaults from #78 to #10 in its second week on the Hot 100. It's DJ Khaled's first 10 hit. It's also the first top 10 hit for Ross; the sixth for Drake and the 14th for Lil Wayne.

Taio Cruz's 2010 smash "Dynamite" this week becomes the first hit by a British artist to top the 5 million mark in digital sales. It edges out Coldplay's 2008 hit "Viva La Vida," which has sold 4,977,000 copies. "Dynamite" is the 12th song overall to top 5 million in digital sales. The top-selling hit by a British artist ever (counting the pre-digital era) is Elton John's "Candle In The Wind 1997," which sold more than 8 million physical singles in the U.S. in 1997. You thought maybe I was going to say something by the Beatles? They did pretty well too.

1. Adele, "Rolling In The Deep." The song holds at #1 for the fourth straight week in its 21st week on the chart. This is its ninth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (254K).

2. Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer, "Give Me Everything." The song jumps from #3 to #2 in its ninth week on the chart. This is its fourth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (210K).

3. Katy Perry featuring Kanye West, "E.T." The former #1 smash dips from #2 to #3 in its 16th week on the chart. This is its 14th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #7 (148K).

4. Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull, "On The Floor." The song rebounds from #5 to #4 in its 14th week on the chart. This is its 13th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #9 (130K).

5. The Black Eyed Peas, "Just Can't Get Enough." The song dips from #4 to #5 in its 15th week on the chart. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #13 (109K).

6. Bruno Mars, "The Lazy Song." The song holds at #6 for the second week in its 14th week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #8 (138K).

7. Britney Spears, "Till The World Ends." The song holds at #7 for the second week in its 13th week on the chart. This is its eighth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #12 (117K).

8. Lady Gaga, "The Edge Of Glory." The song rebounds from #19 to #8 in its third week on the chart. This is its second week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #4 (165K).

9. LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, "Party Rock Anthem." The song dips from #8 to #9 in its 10th week on the chart. The song spent four weeks at #1 in the U.K. in April and May. Digital sales rank: #6 (154K).

10. DJ Khaled featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne, "I'm On One." The song jumps from #78 to #10 in its second week. Digital sales rank: #5 (159K).

Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. Lupe Fiasco's "The Show Goes On" drops from #9 to #12. "Look At Me Now" by Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes drops from #10 to #13. Lupe Fiasco's new song, "Out Of My Head" (featuring Trey Songz) debuts at #98. Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" jumps from #15 to #14 in its fifth week. It's vying to become Minaj's highest-charting hit on which she was the lead artist, topping "Moment 4 Life" (featuring Drake), which peaked at #13. Digital sales rank: #10 (128K). Jason Derulo's "Don't Wanna Go Home" vaults from #92 to #18 in its second week.

Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" jumps from #50 to #29 in its sixth week, which is its highest ranking to date. The song debuted and originally peaked at #33. Beyonce also debuts with a new song, "1+1," which opens at #57.

Five more Glee songs enter the Hot 100. All were featured in "New York," the final episode of Season 2. "Light Up The World" bows at #33, followed by "Pretending" at #40, "For Good" at #58, "I Love New York/New York, New York" at #81 and "As Long As You're There" at #93.

Two more Lady Gaga songs enter the Hot 100. "You And I" bows at #36. "Marry The Night" bows at #79.

Rihanna's "California King Bed" vaults from #80 to #66 in its second week. The song is vying to become the fourth straight #1 hit from Loud, following "Only Girl In The World," "What's My Name" (featuring Drake) and "S&M" (sometimes featuring Britney Spears). This would make Loud the second album of the past year, following Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, to generate four #1 hits. Will it do it? Place your bets. (Yet another Rihanna song, "Man Down," debuts at #94.)

Lil Wayne's "How To Love" bows at #69.

"Rise Above 1" by Reeve Carney featuring Bono and The Edge bows at #74.

Mac Miller's "Donald Trump" bows at #80.

Anyway, great to see Adele at number one but Pitbull really deserves it as his song is great!
