This is a 21st century number twos rate using every song that hit number 2 in the 2000s and 2010s. What will happen is there will be 11 rounds, round 1 being 2000, then 2001 etc. up to round 10 which will be 2009. Round 11 will be 2010 and 2011 combined as there are not enough songs from 2011 to have its own round. The top 4 from each round will go straight to the final, and 5th to 7th placed will go in a "wildcard" round. But, to spice things up we will not go in order of the years. Now you know why this isn't round one (I haven't missed it out, but will go back to it later)

 

The top ten songs from the "wildcard" round will be put into the final round to make a top 54 of the decade. You will vote from 54, but four unlucky songs will miss out on making the top 50 in the results thread. After the final the next rate will be xxxxxxxxxx (edit - this will be the last game in the series)

 

How you rate the songs; exactly the same as last time, you do not rate every song that hit number two, you just rate your ten favourites and your least favourite. You give +15 points to your favourite song, and the rest are as follows; This is to hopefully stop ties from happening inside the top 3.

Argh, 2006! I was mentally prepared to vote in 2000 already :cry: Instead of a glorious year where I like almost every #2 we get THIS. Ah well!

 

Anyway, in all seriousness, considering how much I've said openly on this forum that this year was crap for chart music, this list of #2s isn't as bad as it could have been. Still not good though when I have to give points to songs I flat out don't like!! The top 7 are okay, but it's a massive drop-off after +3.

+15 The Killers - When You Were Young The Killers are just an outstanding band, I've absolutely loved every song they've put out. WYWY is actually among their less good singles but still massively outshines everything else on this list. I still hope they can one day get a #1 but Human was probably their last chance gone :(

I'd like to hope that BJ can be discerning with their Rihanna looning, I remain confident that it wouldn't!

 

I thought it was awful, a really cheap sounding 'flop' song and I thought it would definitely signal the end of her career and leave her as a one hit wonder like Lumidee two years before her. #11 was a bit higher than I expected for it though. And then of course SOS happened and it was up all the way from there... :lol:
