Personal bests in BJSC and UP

Whilst this thread is used mostly for BJSC successes, it is worth mentioning that Danaelanda won our first ever contest in UP. The song in question comes from T.O.L.D. with his debut single 'Lucifer's Eyes'. It has peaked at #17 in our chart so far and may still climb.

Our luck doesn't end there though and in BJSC we get our highest ever finish to date, with Shadow Child & Doorly finishing in 11th, further proving that we've been put under a curse to never have a top 10 to our name in this contest (the curse doesn't seem to apply to UP though where we've had 3 top 10 finishes including a winner).

The stats of the two entries are summarised here:

Entry #032: BJSC 70: November 2014: Altyr Muunilinst

Allies Republic of Adonia Score Debut Win

Another contest means another winner, and keeping up the trend of countries getting debut wins it is now the turn of Republic of Adonia. Regular readers of this thread will know that this country is a member of the dance-bloc. Despite that they've gone ahead and won with indie-pop, but we're still very happy for them as the song is great (scoring 7.5/10 on the relative vote scale).

Predicted winner Aeroche didn't quite make the top but still finish at #2 with a healthy 188 points, enough to ensure their stay at #1 on the EOY chart. Finishing the top 5 are #00274E, FSR Rontvia and D'yermak'er in that order. We expected these countries to do well except FSR Rontvia far exceeded our predictions.

Ajanaeda were the favourite to win at one point but in the end "only" make #6, still an amazing achievement for them. Altyr Muunilinst sell out to the Danaelandan public by entering Porter Robinson, despite the cheapness (not as cheap as last month's Blonde though) it still made a big impression on us and we're happy that it's top 10. Other countries in the top 10 are Fljotavik, Trifoski and Daehun. We voted for Trifoski and not the other two.

Just outside the top 10 of course is us. It is our personal best and our seventh entry to finish top 15 (eighth top 20) without a single top 10 to our name. In other news sadly N DNTN and Aquafina underperform at #18 and #25 respectively.

Political Alliances Update

N DNTN has been added to our alliance list, also known as the BJSC dance-bloc due to mostly dance music being sent from these countries. The country has been sending great dance music recently so is a great addition.

Thanks for your continued support #Danaehesi

Ooh shocked but very happy to have an entry in your top 10! My attempt to get the dance bloc on board really worked with Anna :kink:

Hopefully Danaemak'er can have more crossover hits in 2015!

'Seve' Finishes Top 10 in Rejects Finale

In recent news it has been announced that 'Seve' was voted the 10th best BJSC entry of the year that failed to qualify in its original contest. It was one of three Danaelandan entries that DNQed, the other two did not make the final but 'Man x Woman' did make the semi-final. This is not the first time we've gone top 10 in Rejects though, we of course came 2nd in the 2011 contest with Elena's 'Disco Romancing', losing out only to the iconic kpop entry 'I Am The Best' (2NE1). If only we could go top 10 in a regular contest -_-

We do have Skall and Isconia to thank though for not voting therefore receiving a deduction which lost them top 10 places.

The winner was Ethanola with their amazing entry 'You Too' (Para One) and Aeroche were the runner up with 'Howling' (Frank Wiedemann & Ry Cuming) so justice was served all round. Full results here for future reference.

Our votes were as follows

12 / Republic of Adonia // Andy C and Fiora - Heartbeat Loud {LXIX}

10 / Tartford // Nicky Romero and Anouk - Feet On The Ground {LXX}

08 / Aeroche // RY X and Frank Wiedemann - Howling (Âme Remix) {LXV}

07 / Ethanola // Para One - You Too {LXIII}

06 / Isconia // Hudson Mohawke - Chimes {LXVII}

05 / Republic of Adonia // James Bay - Hear Your Heart (Tontario Edit) {LXVI}

04 / Kluminican Republic // Hannah Diamond - Pink And Blue {LXVIII}

03 / Skall // Todd Terje - Inspector Norse {LXI}

02 / Cadelicia // Tritonal - Now Or Never (feat. Phoebe Ryan) {LXII}

01 / Yehesi // Charlotte OC - Strange (Ten Ven Remix) {LXVIII}

Now it is ACTUAL TBO season so remember to vote for our entries in that :wub:

No entries in TBO

DanLanNews was disappointed to learn that out of our seven entries in TBO this year, none of them went into the semi finals of the contest, which obviously means we have no representatives in the TBO final. It doesn't help of course that we didn't make the top 10 once this year, allowing for more popular entries to make it through ahead of us. Here's how we did:

Danaelanda LXI: 4 Strings feat. Neev Kennedy "This Heart Is Yours" (13th, 15 points) (OC: 13th, 93 points)

Danaelanda LXIII: Oliver Heldens "Gecko" (6th, 25 points) (OC: 26th, 62 points)

Danaelanda LXIV: Laurel "Fire Breather (Nexity Remix)" (11th, 19 points) (OC: 12th, 155 points)

Danaelanda LXV: Ferreck Dawn & Redondo "Love Too Deep" (6th, 24 points) (OC: 15th, 97 points)

Danaelanda LXVIII: Jenny Mayhem & The Fuzz Orchestrator "Bad Girls (SLO LOV Remix)" (28th, 6 points) (OC: 25th, 79 points)

Danaelanda LXIX: Ruffneck feat. Yavahn "Everybody Be Somebody (Lucas & Steve Remix)" (29th, 5 points) (OC: 31st, 53 points)

Danaelanda LXX: Shadow Child & Doorly "Climbin' (Piano Weapon)" (13th, 15 points) (OC: 11th, 108 points)

note that the winners autoqualified, so in reality the positions should be one place lower.

OC = placing and points in its original contest

Our best performance was Oliver Heldens' Gecko, which missed the semi-final by one point. It also had the greatest improvement, from finishing at a lowly 26th in its original contest, to 6th (7th) in its TBO re-run. Also finishing in the same position was Love Too Deep which originally finished in 15th. It's likely that the boosts the two songs got were due to them having received a UK commercial push, allowing the song to grow on some countries. The others finished in nearly the same position as in its original contest and therefore did not challenge for a place in the semi-final.

We'll be back with a bang this January hoping for our first top 10, see you shortly :cheer:

Danaelanda LXXI: Sandy Rivera - BANG! (feat. April)

http://s23.postimg.org/cp9232pbv/danaelandalxxi.png

About Sandy Rivera

Sandy Rivera is an American record producer, House music DJ and label owner. Born in New York City, he is now based in New Jersey.

-x-

The 33rd entry comes from Sandy Rivera, who has been around for a while, even charting a few times, most notably in 2001 with 'Finally' as his alias Kings Of Tomorrow. He's back now and has produced a really good deep house song with the vocals of April, not to be confused with the Buzzjack poster of the same name. It was released on Ultra records last year and now represents Danaelanda in the first BJSC of 2015.

DISCC President Daniel Thermometre says "it's great to continue showing the world our favourite songs, and whilst this is yet another deep house entry from us we really believe it is something special and hope it makes an impact". The song has spent 4 weeks at #1 here so far and could possibly claim the top even longer. Do take a listen and tell us what you think :wub:
