Everyone probably realises that they should have bought it this time last year and are making up for lost time.

#21 peak = ridiculous. Hopefully it will go on to become one of the all time biggest selling non top 20 hits to prove the point of how stupid its underperformance was, in fact it probably already is.

I never understood how it was absolutely massive EVERYWHERE in Europe except for the UK. It seems the only people who actually bought it were those returning from their holidays where the song was probably everywhere.

So, The Edge of glory video set for premiere today. :w00t:

It's currently at #33 on UK iTunes. Let's hope the video is not as bizarre as Born this way and fly high again!

Yeah, that does seem to have been the case. The song was getting very little promotion here, but had really good longevity, so that really is the only explanation I can think of.

Wow. Although, to be fair, DDAO did have the advantage that it got released twice.

But it did practically nothing on its first release (it only got to the low top 100).

I thought it did roughly the same as the 2nd time it was released. Because I remember people being all like "Haha. They re-released DDAO but it couldn't get a new peak", and then I remember saying that it's not exactly a failure, because the re-release practically doubled its sales.

I've probably just got it mixed up with another song.

That would be 3OH!3's Don't Trust Me which got to #21, then re-released got #22. Which incidentally I think was the last time a proper 're-release' propelled a song back into the top 40 :o You don't really get re-releases these days apart from flops released before an artist got big (like Two Door Cinema Club's Something Good Can Work - which thankfully got to #56 second time around and is now their biggest hit as it should be :D)

Oh yeah, I remember that. It can make sense to re-release really. Like if you have a really good song which didn't get big, after you've had a hit single, people might actually pay attention to the song the second time around.

Also, in other news. KATY PERRY HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! Last Friday Night is #1 on US iTunes!!!! :o I can't understand how she does this! :o Gosh, maybe even Peacock could get to #1 if she released it!

She does it with ease. You do realise that it's a brilliant song  Plus the fact her exposure over there must be HUGE seeing as all the radio stations and TV music channels news keeps harping on about her breaking records in America, I'm sure they are talking about it even more over there...So Katy fans and people are moe inclined to buy, to see the records be broken.

Obviously this and the clever video featuring one of the most talked about new stars(Rebecca Black) and its relevance to Friday are all having an impact.

Katy/The label have been so clever this era...Especially with LFN (T.G.I.F) using all the elements to make the song even bigger than it probably should be after selling god knows how many albums.

DDAO entered the chart at #23 at the beginning of the year (not sure why? however it was when YGTL was being promoted) and soon fell down between 40 and 60, but 3 months later on official release could only manage -24-25-27-24-27

Bounce is extending and is finally gonna reach number one on itunes :yahoo:

I think this has been debated before - I don't consider any of its 2010 chart run to be part of its 'original release' so AFAIC it originally got to #89 then got #23 on re-release.

But regardless of that Eric was definitely talking about 3OH!3 anyway.

191. Bear Hug - The 2 Bears

Love this song :D The 2 Bears is Joe Goddard of Hot Chip and someone called Raf Rundell.
