Take That progressing back to number one

The top end of the singles market is also busy with new releases with Calvin Harris’s newly-issued Columbia single Bounce, which features Kelis, the week’s top seller so far, just ahead of Asylum/Atlantic’s Ed Sheeran with his Top 40 debut The A Team.

Ministry of Sound’s Example is in third place with Changed The Way You Kiss Me, having debuted at number one last Sunday, meaning the top three sellers at this point of the week are all British. That is something of a rare achievement these days and comes just a fortnight after the homegrown presence in the Top 10 was the lowest since the UK singles chart started in November 1952.

The arrival of two new tracks in the top two effectively pushes the top end of last week’s chart down two positions with Example at three, J/RCAS’s previous runner-up Give Me Everything by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Afro Jack and Nayer fourth, Interscope/Polydor’s Nicole Scherzinger dropping 5-3 and 3 Beat/AATW’s Alexandra Stan slipping 4-6 with Mr Saxobeat. The big casualty is Parlophone act Coldplay’s Every Teardrop Is A waterfall, which entered the chart at six last Sunday, but is now the 16th seller at this point of the week.

Albums

Take That’s Progress is heading back to the top of the UK artist albums chart this week following the release of its expanded version, while Calvin Harris and Ed Sheeran are boosting British fortunes in the singles market.

Sales of the Polydor album, which came out in an expanded version on Monday with eight additional tracks, are 762% up on the week and more than double the total of its nearest rival, XL act Adele’s 21, according to OCC data. Progress was number 11 on last week’s chart.

The album’s revival comes as the band’s Progress Live tour moves from Manchester to the first of two dates tonight at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium before heading to Dublin, Glasgow, Birmingham and London and then onto continental Europe.

As Progress’s sales rise those of Arctic Monkeys’ chart-topping Suck It And See are heading the other way, down 74% at this stage of the week to leave the Domino album as the new chart week’s third biggest seller.

Just behind it at number four is So Beautiful Or So What, Paul Simon’s first album for Hear Music/Decca since he left Warner, one of four brand new albums showing up among the Top 10 positions. Interscope/Polydor’s Bad Meets Evil are seventh with Hell – The Sequel, indie label Mascot’s Black Country Communion are in eighth place with their second album 2 and Polydor’s Nerina Pallot ninth with Year Of The Wolf.

Lower down there will also be Top 40 entries this week from acts including Sophie Ellis-Bextor (on her EGB’s label), Reprise/Warner Bros’s Neil Young, the Universal label’s Black Veil Brides and Close Harbour’s Emmy The Great.

PLEASE READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING

[01] Any member that is caught spamming, or trying to cause an argument to get a reaction will be severely warned with a ban for 7 days from posting on the forum.

[02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute.

[03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away.

[04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard.

[05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude.

[06] Do not use Text Talk.

[07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision.

[08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see.

[09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures.

[10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.

Calvin and TT (or SEB :kink:) for #1 pls

Strange that two years ago I saw Calvin Harris live with Example as the support and now they're battling for #1 in the chart! I can't think of any other support act I've seen that's gone on to become so huge!

Anyway, hopefully the best Brit destined for the top five, and one I haven't seen live thus far (no I'm not talking about Tinchy Stryder and Dappy) will be at least #4 on the opening mids. Come on Ed :w00t:

Ed Sheeran has just tweeted he is #2 in the official midweeks and not that far behind #1 with sales apparently aswell :o :o :o :

http://twitter.com/#!/edsheeran

So this must mean that Calvin is #3

Yes, I saw that as well. :o

An all British Top 3! (assuming Calvin is at 3)

Whatever Next :D

And if Tinchy & Dappy are at #4 then it will be a British Top 4 ;)...Gutted Calvin aint gna be #1 though :(

:cheer:

Next step #1! The A Team is so much better than Bounce and Spaceship imo - completely deserved.

Nice to have a different style of music doing so well towards the top of the chart.

That would make the best #1 of the year :w00t:

Oops, apparently there is a problem with Calvin Harris's physicals, so when they are added he could be #2.
