WOO FOR THESE! And yay at Keri. Even if it will never go top 75 again. :( (Release is in 2-3 weeks! :()

Thrilled to see Foster the People doing so well, I think a top 40 position is looking likely now!

As for Parade and SoundGirl, I'm not a fan of either - but for the benefit of the UK top 40; it'd be nice to have some more UK groups do well - especially for SoundGirl on their debut.

My prediction for the top 5

01. Example

02. Pitbull

03. Jason Derulo

04. Calvin Harris

05. Ed Sheeran

Hopefully she comes over and does some decent promo then!

Wow Derulo doing so well, not 6pm yet and #4 so top 3 at the least is more than likely.

04. Jason Derulo - Don't Wanna Go Home

14. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night

21. Vato Gonzales - Badman Riddim

46. Parade - Perfume

69. SoundGirl - Don't Know Why [Woooo Climbing Fast Now]

I hope Jason goes to #1, I know that's an unpopular opinion on here though! :)

Also, I can't open the top 1000 link, so could anyone tell me if Britney's I Wanna Go is top 1000? Video premiere on Wednesday - summer anthem! :D

Soundgirl are climbing quite fast now!

Alexis Jordan - Hush Hush is 59p and has failed to get any higher on iTunes oh dear!

The thing with 'Party Rock Anthem' and 'Give Me Everything' though is that these two tracks progressed up the chart before hitting the no. 1 spot. If anything, it's a true reflection of how the tracks grew in popularity.

Surely if a track is popular enough it will eventually top the chart in a similar way too? :D On the flip side, I do wonder how tracks like 'On The Floor' and 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' would've done had they been given the OA/OS treatment. I think 'Grenade' was a surefire #1 hit though - it would've gone to no. 1 anyways I reckon. 'Price Tag' was given the OA/OS treatment and went straight to no. 1 albeit in a very close race to the no. 1 spot.

I think On the Floor would've definitely got #1 with on air, on sale. Changed the Way You Kiss Me though, probably not (although it still would've charted quite high I think).

And you might be right about how it reflects the tracks growing in popularity. I don't know really. I think I'm a bit biased, since I think Give Me Everything and Party Rock Anthem are extremely average (bordering on to "poor"), so obviously you people that love those songs won't mind, but it's annoying having them at #1 for a whole month if you don't like them. I'd rather them be frontloaded and have 1 or 2 weeks at #1 with massive sales like Grenade and On the Floor did.

Realistically do you see singles which go On Air/On Sale planned release gain sales? Judas didn't, Run The World (Girls) didn't, Notorious didn't, San Francisco won't and many others...

Judas and Run the World did badly because they were bad songs, not because they were released through on air/on sale. They bombed in America too, and there hasn't been a sudden change in release strategies there. And the Saturdays have always been a second-division act... entering in the top 10 before freefalling is pretty much the norm for them, so I don't understand why you're saying OA/OS affected that.

It makes no logical sense whatsoever to say OA/OS would decrease songs' overall sales. Whenever someone hears a song they're able to buy it; whereas before, they could only buy it from a certain date. Like, I literally can't figure out how anyone could think it would decrease sales? Some acts will get lower peaks, sure, but that's all to the good as far as I'm concerned - it'll show that girlpop acts like the Saturdays didn't deserve their artifically-inflated chart peaks in the past.

This tbh. I want to save this post and quote it whenever we have this discussion. :D

Especially the US thing. People need to realize they've been doing on air, on sale for years there. It results in a slower-moving chart, and some weird chart runs. But it's just normal. People there don't really panic if an artist they like enters the chart at #53. They start panicking if it's 5 weeks later and it hasn't climbed yet.

Although the bit about The Sats entering the top 10 and freefalling. To be fair to them, they have had a few very impressive chart runs, and even a song that climbed up the chart to actually quite a high peak in the end (Issues).

How do you know if on air on sale isn't working? How do you know how much Notorious or Run the World would've sold if it had been held back? How do you know how Change The Way You Kiss Me would've sold had it been OA/OS? YOU DON'T!!! There is no real reason to suggest it isn't working, if a song manages to sell less than it would've (using the same promo) then yes, something has gone wrong somewhere.
