Posted June 18, 201114 yr Not including those already the charts, who has a shot of getting a number album in the next few months. Week Sunday could be a surprise album number one maybe Bon Iver or Def Leppard, in the up and coming weeks I'd say Beyonce, Dr Dre, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Will Young and maybe Cher Lloyd are the only contenders of the albums with release dates
June 18, 201114 yr Bon Iver should get top 10 with ease, I've heard quite a lot of hype behind it. Looking at the release schedule, I can see Adele getting it back by default next week. Then Beyoncé, then it might change hands between Adele and GaGa depending on whether "Edge of Glory" does better than "Set Fire To The Rain". Dr. Dre could get a week, maybe Nero the week after. Then there's another three weeks until RHCP and Cher Lloyd the week after might have to settle for #2.
June 18, 201114 yr This week: TT obviously. Next week: TT again or a 'default' reclaim for Adele if their sales plummet. After that: Adele again. I can't see Beyoncé's album doing that well, if IA...SF performed so poorly (initially) after IIWAB, I can't see 4 getting to #1 off the back of RTW(G)... After that: Adele yet again, or Blondie if they've still got the fanbase for it. After that: The Horrors could be an outside challenger, but probably Adele again (!) Not enough information on the NRS to go any further than that. I don't see Born This Way getting back to #1 to be honest, Adele will be back on the up with SFTTR already starting to get hammered on radio and already top 20 on iTunes and GaGa's POG boost will be short-lived so she'll have to rely on TEOG after that. June 18, 201114 yr Dr Dre  Like it will ever be released Was it coming out first in March then in April then in June and now? Beyonce will without a doubt sell maybe 60-65k, enough for number one position. She has Glastonbury too. I don't think Adele can sell over 30k per week throughout the summer. EDIT: Detox has a release date in July but wouldn't count on that. Edited June 18, 201114 yr by SKOB
June 18, 201114 yr Dr Dre  Like it will ever be released Was it coming out first in March then in April then in June and now? Beyonce will without a doubt sell maybe 60-65k, enough for number one position. Well, Dr. Dre's album was first coming out in 2004, then 2005, then 2007, and yeah... Apparently his next single is due for release soon, and is with 50 Cent. Although I think he might end up releasing the entire album as singles before the album itself gets released.
June 18, 201114 yr Why on earth would Dre get a #1 album now, when he never has before, especially given the tendency for rap albums to underperform?
June 18, 201114 yr Bon Iver could challenge for number 1 next week, most likely not though - I think Beyonce will get number 1 the week after, its been getting some decent pre-order sales and I'd imagine it would do over 50k I'm not actually sure for the next few weeks - the release schedule is pretty dry atm, although apparently the Red Hot Chilli Peppers have a new album out soon, I'd imagine that will be an easy number 1
June 18, 201114 yr Why on earth would Dre get a #1 album now, when he never has before, especially given the tendency for rap albums to underperform? Well, hopefully all 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, etc. fans will buy it, in which case it would certainly go to #1. Really, all Black Eyed Peas, Timbaland, Lady Gaga, Nicole Scherzinger, LMFAO, Nelly Furtado, Far East Movement, Keri Hilson, Skylar Grey, Natalia Kills, La Roux, etc. fans should buy it too, but I bet they won't. :( But if they have a heart, and can show gratitude, then the album will sell well. :) His album will definitely go to #1 in the US anyway. I don't think he cares about here. And his previous album was sooooo long ago. I think he's more popular now than he was when his previous album was released, at least with mainstream people. June 18, 201114 yr I think Gaga's album could go back to number 1 following the paul o grady special or at least when Edge of glory establishes it's self more.
June 18, 201114 yr Why on earth would Dre get a #1 album now, when he never has before, especially given the tendency for rap albums to underperform? There's been a 12 year wait, it's one of the most anticipated albums in recent history. Plus, he's already had a top 10 single from it.
June 18, 201114 yr Dre should easily get top 5, seeing as it's relatively quiet on the release front I don't see what's stopping him from number 1 either. I'd love Adele to have a few more weeks though
June 18, 201114 yr After that: Adele yet again, or Blondie if they've still got the fanbase for it. Blondie out of the question, I've got it, it was given free with a mag priced at £15.00, the mag spanned their career to date. The album is ok, nothing really stands out.
June 18, 201114 yr Author Just remembred Kasbian coming out in September, that should do well, also some Pink Floyd reissues in September, shall be interesting to see if they could challenge for the top spot
