Well there's pop and then there's trashy pop, which Warpath very much is. It's usually the trashy pop that you pass negative comment on more than anything, but then you did like Smack Me so it's not unheard of!

 

Take those people (I've seen Jonjo, Freeze, Sugabloke, JamesP, Liam and I'm probably forgetting a few), add yourself, add Ashton's usual 3 or 4 ardent supporters, add the other countries that have sent lesser trashy pop songs this month who will surely love it and that's already about 100 points wrapped up. I don't see how you think it could finish bottom ten :o Low top ten at worst...

Warpath is unexpectedly great, probably my favourite Ashton song in a long time. Surely top 10, but I couldn't say better or worse.

It's catchy in a fairly similar way to Whiplash but with less of a melody. Not that I dislike Warpath (as that makes it sound like I do!) but I don't see why that factor would work so strongly in its favour at the same time that everyone thinks Whiplash will do mid-table at best.

I will openly admit that the first time I heard Warpath it had no effect on me whatsoever, but it's been in my head a lot over the past couple of weeks and definitely grown on me to some extent. I don't love it like I've loved other Ashton entries or like everyone else does but I can see why it's being tipped for the win and I do like it a lot.

 

Whiplash has been shown up by the rest of Selena's album I guess which is the danger of sending an album track from an artist relatively well known/liked by BJ's pure pop contingent who are likely to have heard the album by the time of voting - first time Tirren showed me it I thought it was pretty decent but then in the context of the album it's a bit different as it's preceded by better songs :lol:

Yeah sure, but it can't stop you enjoying the one that's being sent - the most baffling example I heard was when Boyan said Popular wouldn't do well for Eric Saade because it wasn't as good as Manboy!

I think 'Warpath' will finish somewhere in between #6-#10, I can see it doing well, but I don't think it's a winner. Personally, I think 'Whiplash' does trashy better :P I think there will be an 'unexpected' winner tonight, as there are so many songs who have a chance of winning this contest.

I actully really really like Whiplash.

This is so close. I hope I sneak top 5 as people are predicting 7-8 but Get Back Asap is brilliant.

I see your point, I don't think I expressed what I meant properly. For example I rate everything out of 10 and my points go to the ten songs with the highest marks. The best tracks on Selena's album would feature relatively highly and safely in my votes but Whiplash - well I can't say exactly but it is/was in contention. I wasn't so much as saying that it's perhaps a reason for this not to do well as much as an argument that other Selena songs might have done better. I feel like a few of the people that didn't vote (one in particular considering who wrote the song!) probably would have been big fans of it so it might lose out a bit there. But it's obviously all objective anyway, Popular's FAR better than Manboy after all!

Oh please, no way Whiplash is better than Warpath.

 

Whiplash doesn't really fit with Selena voice and that is the reason why it makes unbearable to listen to.
